I decided to replace my Taurus rubber grip that came on my revolver with a bigger rubber Hogue grip & man what a huge difference!!! A lot less recoil a lot better comfort & I can shoot .357 magnum loads with no problem at all. Good video!!!
Thank you very much! I have looked at the G10 grips but they might sting a little more than these. 😂. I plan on putting the larger grip on the poly 605 soon.
I put Hogue grips on my S&W 642 as well as my Ruger SP101 and they made both guns MUCH better to shoot. And still easy to carry as well. Especially the 642.
I carry a Taurus 605 with .38 special +p jhp ammo. Great, dependable carry option. Owned it over a year and shoot it pretty regularly and it still functions like new.
Why buy a 357 only to puss out and shoot 38spl? They weigh the same. The 357 easily outclasses the 38 by a WIDE margin which is why someone chooses the 357 magnum - NOT to shoot 38 special ammo. Everybody acts like +P 38 is close to 357...it ain't, not even. It's MAYBE 2,000 psi over 19K psi which is WAY lower than 357 at 37.5-40 THOUSAND psi. If you can't handle the 357 then don't buy one and try and pretend the weak-ass 38+P is somehow "good enough" cause it ain't...ain't even close. About the time you survive your first gunfight you'll understand. Need to stop listening to all the self-appointed internet experts.
@@crspartans117kilibreaux8 haha as if .38 special and or .38 +p hasn’t put countless people in the dirt? I bought the .357 model knowing that if there was some kind of ammo shortage again, having the option of 2 different calibers would be a bonus. I don’t think anyone acts as if .38 +p is close to .357. Your hand tells you that when firing it out of a 2 inch barrel.
@@crspartans117kilibreaux8 Some of us, who have been shooting and carrying J-frames for 40 years carry .38 special+p ammo in our .357 magnums because we don't want to blow out our eardrums by lighting off a .357 magnum round indoors or inside our cars, etc... But by all means don't "puss out", go ahead and light one off without hearing protection in an enclosed space. You're a bright boy, I'm sure you can learn sign language in no time!

@@sacrificialscience4405did you find a upgrade grip for the poly ? I can’t find any aftermarket ones, only available ones are for the non poly
I put the hogue monogrip on both of my Taurus snubbies and it made a huge difference
You’re a boss my man!! Didn’t flinch a bit on the dry fires after you shot all the other rounds. Respect man!!
Great review! .357 is great and has its place, but I agree, .38 is what I would carry for defensive purposes. Look forward to the longevity tests!
Thank you Marc! I am too. Need to load up some more 357 soon. Not pleasant to shoot in these, but somebody has to do it. 😂
@@sacrificialscience4405 Yeah. I ran some of my full reloads through the Blackhawk yesterday with cold hands! 😳
@@marcthomas2482 a Blackhawk is definitely on my bucket list
I’ve found that .38 +P is a happy medium
Brother I have the 605defender 357/38 3" barrel sweet 👍🏿
I might have to check one of those out man. The ones with the g10 grips and stainless look amazing

That’s good to hear. I had mine out shooting earlier. Plan on shooting it a lot more. 👍🏼

I haven’t found any yet. I think any grip that fits the poly judge will work though.
On the Fiber optic sights on the Poly Protector did you melt the end of the sights to make sure that they didn't fall out?
Yes it did. Has held up so far
@sacrificialscience4405 thank you for responding.
The Taurus Poly comes with two grips. A long one and short one. You should have used the long one!
I used the smaller grip for concealability. Still wanting to try out the longer one though.
@Sacrificial Science if you're gonna shoot 357 rounds, I would definitely go with the larger grip
how is the Taurus 605 still holding? Any issues with cylinder timing etc?
I traded my steel one off, but still have the poly model. It’s holding up well. Have put probably 100 rounds through it since the video was made
158 grain .357 is not fun in this. Should have bought lighter leads for testing lol. I dislike the grip immensely.
So far all I have shot are 125 grain reloads. Might try some 158’s loaded up stout to see how bad they are. Lol.
@@sacrificialscience4405 I decided why not jump in with both feet haha. The 125 gr might have changed my review.
A digital gauge will go to 12ish
I need to look into a better one
The poly has a metal frame with a poly coating on it....when are you people going to figure this out ?
