Great video! Thanks. I had to use a 15mm socket on mine today. Used the foil pan. It fits perfectly underneath.
One tip, I use a NOCO GENIUS1 battery charger/maintainer on mine using their quick disconnect and it is plugged in all the time. It keeps the battery ready and mine sat in my garage for 2 years before I needed it, but it was ready and started right up without resorting the yanking the starter string.

Thank you for the video. I have the Firman 7500 and just so happened to change the oil today. I didn't think to tilt it but will do next time. Ida kept us without power for 11 days and this awesome generator, kept us comfortable overnight with a portable A/C, medium fridge and 2 fans. I have it ready for the next go. Take care and I hope all is well with you and your family

We had a capped 1/2 inch black iron pipe sticking out of the wall on the back of the house. I figured.. hmmm, must be a natural gas line, maybe a previous owner had a grill? Well, we just got a Firman Tri-Fuel generator like yours and after a solid hour searching Lowes for the parts (1/2 Valve to 3/8 female outlet and a hose for a Weber Grill) it ran like a charm. Thanks for posting this video, all I need to stock now is a few quarts of oil and not store $500.00 of gasoline! We were only 8 days with no power from "Ida" here in Metairie, but those 8 VERY hot days and gas & ice lines were a living hell.

You should be using the 50 amp plug…
    Your cutting yourself POWER!!
You can not use stove or hvac.
BUT IF YOU USE 50 AMP plug you will have more power to use bigger things.
REMEMBER TO ALWAYS USE THE BIGGEST AMP OUTLET ON YOUR GENERATOR. BIGGER OUTLET AND CORDS SUPPORTS MORE AND STABLE POWER FOR YOU!!
You should also put at 50 amp outlet box with a interlock switch on home. 😉

you're right but everything was closed after the storm. used what I had to power a fridge and a window unit. it worked well. we hope to be more prepared next time.

That's true to a certain extent, but running it on a 30A breaker you are still going to get 96% of what this generator can produce. Yes, you can run in on a 50A but you will only be getting 31A out of it, so if spending about 300-500$ more on installation costs to get that ONE extra Amp (300w) of power from it or if you plan to upgrade in the future is fine with you then go with the 50a, if not stick with the 30A plug.

He is running it on natural gas, it can't reach 50amps... its max 5500 running watts. 30 amps is more than enough.

@Jeff, How long had U owned/used the generator before 25 hour oil change? Did U run it 24/7 during Ida? Did U use 30 or 50 amp generator connection? Did U feed your entire house electrical panel? Do you have manual or auto transfer switch? Thx for answering all these questions. Very helpful video.

It can only do 31 amps max. Good generator thou

Yes max running is 7500 watts, but you still have a 50amp plug.

I have one. But my mechanical aptitude is less than zero. You wouldn't believe how many things i have screwed up that everyone else said was common sense. Also good visual and information on the natural gas use (simple yes but refer to my inferior skills and knowledge as described above). I think there are other people like me that need these generators and could screw it up and then be without power (not to mention screw up an expensive piece of equipment). Thanks for thinking of those unfortunates like me.

What did you do with the used oil? I am sure you ran it for awhile afterwards the oil change. How long did you run it? I purchased one at Costco but have not had the occasion to run it yet. Great video. Thanks.

I appreciate to positive comments man. I put the used oil into some empty pint water bottles(2), and will drop them off at an autozone or Napa or a place that accepts used oil for recycling. hope you are doing well

Use 4cycle air cooled small engine oil, it does not evaporate and has helpful additives not allowed in automotive oil. I use amsoil full synthetic 4cycle small engine oil, it's good for 200 hours and for use in all temps.

You answer my question, it so hard to find out information if the natural gas service was available post Ida. I just had a whole home generator install that runs on natural gas here is Houston. So my biggest question was with the complete loss of electricity, we’re there able to keep the Natural Gas flowing. Thanks so much and good luck with recovery.

    • @kidjeff4304

it should be fine. I could imagine flooding or infrastructure shifts(earthquakes) cause the lines to either be filled or broken.

Yes, it was good. I live in Jefferson Parish (almost all of my major appliances & central heat run on gas) & my parents are in St. Charles (one of the especially hard/hardest hit areas during ida) & throughout every storm I can ever remember -ever-all of our natural gas services were up, running & perfectly fine throughout & afterwards. If it did happen to go out at some point, then it was def 100% back up & working again before anyone ever even realized it happened. 🤷‍♀️ you should be fine. :)

    • @jeffroman2352

So if you were running your heat that runs on gas you would still need to plug the electrical to this generator?

  • @artflorez1568

Did you have to let it cool down before changing the oil, also did you turn it off for any extended time or did you just let it run until you changed the oil? I'm in New Orleans and I have the Champion Tri-fuel that I got after Ida, hoping that I won't need to use it. LOL

    • @kidjeff4304

I called firman and let it run. I watched the hour meter and changed when required....25 or 50 hours. I did let it cool down before changing.

Can't you connect tee connector to supply gas to fireplace and your generator? Or it's not safe to do that? And what's the proper psi for this generator? I am getting one from Costco in 2 weeks trying to gather all the info I can. Thank you much!

You can buy regulator lines. I have a 100 pound propane tank next to mine the LP gas stores much longer than gasoline by like 30 years lol

it's an old dry erase board I had in my garage. had a metal backing, so I thought that was safer than running engine on grass.

@@kidjeff4304 why does these generators only recommend sae 30 or Sae 10w30 while petrol generators sold outside the US (mostly 220/240 volts 50hertz) recommend Sae 40 or 15w40?? I have a INGCO generator 240v 1.2kw and the only oils I have used since day one were Heavy Duty Diesel multigrade motor oil 15w40 that can be used on big Diesel and small air cooled petrol generator. I sincerely wouldn't recommend 10w30 oils especially passenger car motor oils in a hot climate and I will still go for a thicker oil

the book says to use 5w-30 synthetic oil.

Ur choice depends on where u r (elevation) & temperature outside >>
      10w30 for
      0C to 30C
      Synthetic for 5W30
      -30C to +30C
      5W30 for
      -30C to 0C
Elevation & temp affects max power output
      Nice videos, I have 4500w - 3650watts
      Gas/Propane
For my RV so weight is issue & every pound counts, plus lifting alone is enough :)
But weight stops would b thief though from just grabbing & run like happens if using 2000w Honda generator
Might b quieter than Firman but at least Firman will b there when I need it :)
I get 12 hours at 1/2 load with 20 pound BBQ tank
Just got pair 30 pounder today so I’m good for a while, runs everything in Trailer
Run at night with Solar during the day :)
So far Winter has been soft here in Ontario North of Lake Ontario
Haven’t even tried gas side of Generator yet :)
That’s my back up to my back up Lol

Book actually recomends 10W-30 synthetic, and that;s also the type that is given with the generator for the first run. But, 5W-30 can work too but it depends on your climate.
