Fab work! I think sometimes people can be guilty of thinking this old, vibrant style was just a bit naive and specific to the time, but it really has a lot to do with these things being tiny and often viewed on a tabletop. Even very well painted modern styles which are more subtle tend to look like a bit of a grey-brown blur on the tabletop. This old style creates enough vibrant contrast that you can get a clear sense of the scheme on these tiny toys from a few feet away.
Got a load of gitz at Xmas so may give this a bash for the squigs. Oh and the tip of using a cocktail stick for glue has been a game changer for me. Kind of annoyed with myself for not thinking of it 😂
You should experiment with some contrast red paints. Some have some super vibrant results so for instance the red squig would have been so simple (and a better result) using contrast for the base coat. Save time as well with so much layering/highlighting. You've doomfire magenta so expand the range! Also, Black Legion contrast is amazing. Flows like contrast, covers like a base paint. Off to the patreon now!
As a new painter, I appreciate you showing mistakes- I.e. getting green all over the teeth, and showing that isn’t the end of the model, just keep going.

Thanks so much mate! Definitely! You’re not wrong about that 👏
“Angry veiny meatball” sure is a phrase 🤣🤣
I really like the Bad Moon illustration you did for this episode 🌜
Thanks so much dude! Glad you liked it 🙌
So great! Thanks for sharing. Skarsniks funny outfit is dwarf beards!
I thought that the hairy belts were dwarf beards.
Love the mini and the results! I finished the newer version of skarsnik not so long ago.
Nothing better than bright and colourful goblins. Love the old snarsnik too

Glad you enjoyed it dude! Thanks 🍻
Fun sculpts and great paint job
You should check out Bright Pyrole Red from Pro Acryl. Most vibrant, saturated red I've ever worked with.
Another great vid mate. ❤
These are beautifully painted.
Thanks mate! 🤝
Just awesome dude, wow

I feel like the final yellow highlight on the squig's skin make it read as orange instead of red. Just my opinion of course.
Got such a rush of nostalgia seeing those models in the bare metal! Fantastic paint job. Love your style!
Thanks mate! 🍻🙌
I'm going to paint an old metal squig the way you painted Gobblah! thanks for the deets ;)
Nice!! More green skins 🤙🏼 keep it up big D!
Thanks my dude! Will do! 🤝
This channel goes hard, I’m inspired!

Yeah dude everything can be fixed, it’s just paint at the end of the day :)
Hairy belt is actual dwarf beard
Of course! Now that makes sense
What color do you use for the bases?
You mention dark green when painting the skin, perhaps you mean vulkan green?
I use Vallejo Dark Green but you could definitely give Vulkan green a go :)
I'm pretty sure that's a dwarf beard not a hairy belt....
GOBBOS!
