Oh, that's brilliant. I love the old-era miniatures' aesthetic of being _basically_ historic machines/troops as a base for the sculpt, with a stack of ludicrous and impractical fantasy flair added on top. All the little spiky bits and skulls, and the fantasy creatures running around in medieval get-ups. The paint job really goes well with it; I'm impressed.
it's really testament to how great the classic sculpts are when you get to see them painted with modern paints with better coverage and pigments. They're just so *neat*
Amazing video! I'd like to see 6th edition orcs and empire. Also what you do with the wood is not technically called a dry brush, it's a layer of small paint or pressed paint that can be archieved with a piece of foam, but yeah, totally doable with a big dried brush but you have to apply some pressure on it to get that effect and some brushes may deteriorate. According to white dwarf, a dry brush is a very little paint and a very little water with a small or medium brush, basically what you do with the blue over the teclis blue is a dry brush. The horror blue is totally a dry brush. But I call the other thing a dry brush too, so whatever. Cheers!
Yes!! Lil ratty friends :D Walnut and olive are SO cute, when I finally get some Skaven I will be painting 4 of them to look like the 4 rats I have had Naruto, Bean, Pork and Kakashi :')
ISTR that I used to have one of those, but most of my metal skaven guys disappeared a long time ago. I do still have my Skaven Blood Bowl team from back then though.
I love your videos! I wonder where you find all these pristine treasures! As for your Empire paint scheme. I vote for the old black and white Ostland scheme with the red bull head.🙂
About your timing, there are a ton of techniques you could use to speed things up for sure. I really never recommend priming black as its such a struggle to bring up normal colors unless something is mostly mettalic. Generally i think your painting order should change, you dont need to preserve the black unercoat, for example, the bell was lostly metallic, so it would have probably been faster to slopily base coat the whole thing metallic, then paint over that with the colors
Amazing job as always! Interesting to see the result of the Grey Seer painted over a black undercoat. Would you say it diminishes the brightness? Would the model be even more vibrant were it painted over white? Or are modern paints good enough to work over the black undercoat? It's an everlasting doubt in my mind...
Loads to love here. Really like how the gold came out - I put a liberator base on some minis a couple of days back and worried it'd end up too bright and clean, but this shows it doesn't have to. How did you feel the dry brushing came out? Don't think you said. Great to see a pet dedication and a chance for Walnut and Olive to live on 😊
Thanks my man! 🍻🙌 That liberator gold looks like it can go either way, I was a little nervous to try something different haha. Yeah it was great! But if I had my time again I would probably add some harder edge highlights. It’s great for speed though! Yeah I couldn’t paint some rats and not give them a mention 😊
@@anvilofdoomminiatures sounds about right. The wings on my Magnus are all dry brushed except the glyphs. I expect they could be brighter and sharper finished with some edge highlights but I think at current skill level I'd just have made them look worse!
WELL LOOKS GOod like it me the big think and do some time have the platic one is as move it like play hell bells from ACDC have one cards that you open up and record 10 secents of thing but just do think its work but i think nuther whay like what YOU do keep doing it and tune in
Great result, as always! I personally don't like old models, although I see the appeal to old-timers that have played since the early 90s or whatever. I started painting around 2003 myself, and I only started playing back in 2012 or something like that. So I never really had any personal experience with the REALLY old models, I only bought what I liked the look of and painted it, until some friends and I decided we might as well try the game as well, not just have the models sit on a shelf collecting dust :P And that said, you're still fairly new to the hobby and you're painting skills have already reached a very decent level! Even though I have TONS of theoretical knowledge I don't paint enough, nor do I actually try it all out myself, to achieve the results I know I should be able to. You're already doing a good job of it! That being said, seeing how you paint all these old models/kits very true to their old-hammer style, I'd also like to see you try to paint a more updated mini, similar to something you have already painted. There will be a lot of new stuff coming, but off the top of my head: try painting a modern age Grey Seer or something. Or some newer vampire model, something similar to an older vid that you can compare it with easily! THAT would be an awesome video/experiment from you! PS: I also love the way you use GIFs and memes in your vids!!
Great result! Anvil of Doom is my favorite oldhammer channel on youtube. :)
Thanks so much mate! I’m honoured! 🙌🍻

Lovin it. I can never decide whether or not to base these kind of models. They look a little small sometimes next to other based models.

Only reason Skaven won is because Orcs/Goblins aren't an option

Opening this is a sin, since you could have bought an already opened model to do exacly the same.
And that just for couple thousand views..
Lovely video, but the gifs are very annoying and distracting >.
