Some of our mre's had a chocolate fudge bar in them that would put you three weeks ahead of schedule if you know what i mean so be careful Mav! It was ok though, we had an oatmeal bar that would counter act against the fudge bar.😁Some meals even contained mini tobasco hot sauce bottles but even tobasco sauce couldn't save that nasty tasting omelet.

I didn't think the maple sausage patty was too bad, I actually enjoyed it. But the granola with blueberries was by far the best component in that MRE. And the hash browns were enjoyable too.
Mav your hands down my favorite youtuber.. I recently just started my own trucking camper setup for my youtube channel. So thanks for the insperation!!! Also I would love to see this same video but with the best tasting MRE's, that would be cool.. Thanks man and keep on truckin!

Pretty awesome timing as I just finished the other MRE video, and we've got another one that's just as interesting! Thanks for all you do Mav! These videos have been comforting as of late.
The longest we went on nothing but MREs was right around 10 days, maybe a few days longer. Back then individual meals didn't include the heater packs and when they sent them out to us there were never enough heaters so we got creative heating them up. Usually involved burning something dangerous. seafour. If ya know, you know.
The worst canadian IMP (MRE) that I ate while I was serving was the ham omelet, aka, the lung in a bag. You couldn't scrounge enough salt, pepper, and ketchup to make that thing taste good.
Oh, you had the makings of a Ranger Reeses with that cocoa powder and peanut butter. Just a teaspoon of water into the cocoa powder along with the creamer and sugar, mix to a thick consistency, and then add the peanut butter into the mix. Stir and imagine it is the bestest thing ever. 😀 We used to crumble the crackers into the Chicken Ala King (when we HAD to absolutely eat it) and make it a little thicker. Definitely needed the toilet paper. Great vid, Mav!
Food reviews of the mountain house type meals would be awesome! Mav! Awesome, glad to see you got the Vomelette. I've had the sausage patty MRE wasn't horrible. My very first MRE ever was a 1990 chicken a la king, a friend of mine was in the US Air force and served in the desert. When he brought it home he made me eat it cold as a dare, also wasn't horrible. Keep in truckin!
USMC 2011-2015 3531 I had the great fortune to somehow always end up with the sausage patty and of course no one ever wants to trade and it was definitely top 3 worst to have especially when every meal for months is MRE’s so I would only ever eat the oats, drink & muffin/poptart (sometimes instead of muffin it would have a brown sugar poptart) ALSO eating only MRE’s gives the absolute worst, screaming, sweating & straining constipation especially when all you have is a hole to go in in the elements. Enjoy my friend! Subscriber for 4 years, Much Love from VA

I always went hungry when I got the veggie omelette 😂. Tried it once and had the same reaction you did. By far the worst mre I had in the 8 years I was in.
Feel you m8. No amount of Sriracha could make that one work for anyone ever i suppose ;) Bet you could make a tastier omlette eating raw veggies and an egg then ralphing it in a pan and fry it ...
Hahahahhahaha dude!!! I served in the Army during the Vomelette era, had the consistency and taste of wet styrofoam, definitely a terrible menu, but I honestly love everything else and still do lol. You do have to be careful with really old MRE's, if they weren't stored correctly the mains will go bad-- if you freeze MRE's they will last pretty much forever and only need to thaw them out to eat then (that includes all the old ones if whoever originally acquired them was diligent in doing that).
As a marine that’s been deployed to a combat environment. It cracks me up that people eat these things as an endurance or a suffrage thing. Typically you heat everything up and pour everything in the folded bag it comes in. I never drank the beverage powders.
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇸, Mav that pork sausage tastes like dog food, everything else is good inside the pack. My heater didn't work though, so everything was cold. The hashbrowns were good, need to add salt🧂, if you have pepper that too lol. It was blue, and I drank from the bag. Thank you to our service men and women. 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇲🇽.
Mav. We love you for your integrity, your passion, your friendliness, and your willingness to show us the world through your eyes. For the love of God, if something is called the Vomlette DONT EAT IT!
Mav, take that cocoa powder, mix the coffee creamer in, add a little water to brownie bater consistency, crush in some of the cracker, and you have a great dessert.
Great video. The chicken ala king brings back memories of me and my friends camping. We would take my dads MREs . And there would always be chicken ala king. We would warm it in water and break the cracker up in it. It was like eating wet cardboard. Lol. But when you were a kid in the 80s you didnt really mind it. 😂😂
I did not mind the chicken alla, we always put the hot sauce in with it from the accessories pack. The peaches were always good. Heaters rarely came with any of the mre's form the early 90s.
I've watched a bunch of your videos, and I just wanned to say that you're videos are really relaxing to me. I'm not, but I appreciate you being straight edge it's very impressive. Keep it up, I'll keep watch'n 😎
As a vet it's almost hard to watch civilians eating MREs but it's also entertainingly comical, I meant that with love btw. I love the chanmel and love that you actually enjoy these nasty nasty creatures they call rations 😂
When I was in we were eating the canned rations. Gotta tell you these look like gourmet meals. I got a chance to try some from the 90’s. There were a couple hard to choke down, but looking at some of those cans, mainly lima beans and ham, that was enough there to make a person quit eating. The best had to be corned beef hash. Many times I just ate peanut butter or jelly on the canned crackers. One of the guys brought me in canned beef stew when you pulled the cord the can heated up. But those on occasion would just heat up without the cord. Had a mess in the shop to clean up. These new MREs really taste a bunch better, they need the corned beef hash though. I still buy it quite a bit. I now make my own MREs for my road trips. Like Mav got a fridge for my truck. I have both butane and propane stoves. I’m 64 now, but my survival mode still kicks in. All our rations were Nam leftovers. I had a couple of faves. My other half who passed away a couple of years ago had some stored under his rack at the cabin. He called it his emergency stash. His son took all that stuff.
@@deeisme1369 when I went camping as a kid my dad brought old 15-30 year old c rations from nam that he had left over, they were pretty bad. No ration can compare to actual food 😂
I served in Air Force 85-06 deployed to Kuwait during Desert Storm and the Iraq War - ate lots of MREs never had the omelet and looks like that was a good thing. The chicken à la king I thought was ok if you put the tabasco sauce in it. My favorite was beef stew and the spaghetti and meatballs.
a few summers ago I was out working on the wildland fire line, we got spiked out for 11 days fighting this spot fire. resources were pretty low and we had to rely on airdropped MRE's for food. I tried pretty much every single one, and i have a simple policy now: Any meal that comes with a tortilla is usually pretty good.

It was ok though, we had an oatmeal bar that would counter act against the fudge bar.😁Some meals even contained mini tobasco hot sauce bottles but even tobasco sauce couldn't save that nasty tasting omelet.
Frankfurters for the win. 😀
If you set the tortillas in the sun to dry and harden, you can shave the edges to a sharp knife edge and throw them like Frisbees at the enemy's necks. 🤣
I joined the Civil Air Patrol (Auxiliary US Air Force) when i was 14 years old in the late 1970's. I became the cadet commander for my squadron in 1981. We ate Korea and Vietnam era C rations in the can, courtesy of the US Air Force, as a gift to us.
Those MREs served us well when we were on exercises, or when we were called out of school for days at a time, doing Search And Rescue for downed aircraft or lost hunters (mostly found those guys dead) and for the subsequent cordon camping trip for up to a week while we guarded the aircraft. I ate literally HUNDREDS of MRE's before I actually joined the Air Force.
And then...
I ate Literally *1,000'S* of MRE's because of all the alerts, readiness calls and exercises we had. (And Cold war crap and a few TDY deployments).
I actually find current enlisted guys in the San Antonio TX area, and get them to give me their expired MRE's by the full case. I still eat them today, better than ever on the history of MREs. I've brought many here to my house in Mexico. I still have about a dozen left. Maybe I'll do a video of them?
The pork ribs in barbecue sauce are very good, some of my favorite kinds.
But they're all good and nutritious. (Except the Vomelette ) I grew in size from age 18 to 24 because of military food, gaining 3 inches and 35 pounds. And I NEVER had any fat. I blame military food and MREs. 👍🇺🇲 GOOD STUFF.
Military life was very good for me, and MREs, even better.
Seeing Mav enjoy them is a joy for me and a lot of us OG's, too.
I loved the ham slices, beef stew and dehydrated beef patties were my favorite. Camp Thunderbird 11th Signal BDE.
I didn't think the maple sausage patty was too bad, I actually enjoyed it. But the granola with blueberries was by far the best component in that MRE. And the hash browns were enjoyable too.
Camping/cooking date with Mav is the best part of my Sunday. You're the best Mav! ❤
Mav your hands down my favorite youtuber.. I recently just started my own trucking camper setup for my youtube channel. So thanks for the insperation!!!
Also I would love to see this same video but with the best tasting MRE's, that would be cool..
Thanks man and keep on truckin!
Literally LOL with the last mre! The m&ms that taste like a Facebook marketplace couch m&ms and the almost puking from the egg grossness! 🤣
Thank you for your humor and great attitude! 😁
Nice! Lets get this out onto a tray!
A man’s channel… trying old mres in a truck . A little bit of old USofA. Praise God baby!😎🤟🏾
The worst canadian IMP (MRE) that I ate while I was serving was the ham omelet, aka, the lung in a bag. You couldn't scrounge enough salt, pepper, and ketchup to make that thing taste good.
If you like intestines it's edible. Sriracha helps. Vomlet still takes the cake hands down for me ;)
Oh, you had the makings of a Ranger Reeses with that cocoa powder and peanut butter.
My ex used to make that! I was looking through the comment to see anyone else mentioned it 😂
Mav Iraq Veteran here, the MRE heater is better placed upright and we used to use the packaging it comes in to hold it. Thanks for reminding us 😄 🤣
@4:13 was the "let's see what's in it shall we" a throwback to Steve1989, because if not it was too good!
I loved the maple patty meal. Wish MREs did more breakfast meals.
I really like your personal ads for your merch. I’d watch them over UA-cam ads any day.
Food reviews of the mountain house type meals would be awesome!
There's several different manufacturers of the freeze dried varieties👍
Peak is another one, I've had several of theirs and they've got a good selection:
Strawberry Granola
Mountain Berry Granola
Biscuits & Sausage Gravy
Breakfast Skillet
Beef Chili Mac
Three Bean Chili Mac
Sweet Pork & Rice
Beef Pasta Marinara
Chicken Teriyaki Rice
Butternut Dal Bhat
Cheesy Chicken & Broccoli
Chicken Pesto Pasta
Chicken Coconut Curry
Beef Stroganoff
Homestyle Chicken & Rice
Chicken Alfredo Pasta
Brownie Bites
Cookie Bites
Mountain House and Peak are both very good in their own right. But I LOVE my US military MREs.
The chicken Ala King is VERY good.
I liked most of the different menus from ALL the eras. The Mexican food (fajita?) one (I can't remember the name of it, I ate my last one last year) is very good. If you set the tortillas in the sun to dry and harden, you can shave the edges to a sharp knife edge and throw them like Frisbees at the enemy's necks. 🤣 Honestly I'd pull peanut butter and jelly from other rats, and put it on the tortillas, (with honey and mayonnaises if i could find it) and roll them up and make a delicious snack.

I ate literally HUNDREDS of MRE's before I actually joined the Air Force Security Forces.
And then...
I ate Literally *1,000'S* of MRE's because of all the alerts, readiness calls and exercises we had. (And Cold war crap, a few TDY deployments all over Europe).

I'm doing one today. I'll post it later.
The pork ribs in barbecue sauce are very good, some of my favorite kinds.
Pasta... Best.
But they're all good and nutritious. (Except the Vomelette ) I grew in size from age 18 to 24 because of military food, gaining 3 inches and 35 pounds over those 6 years. I kept gaining to 190 pounds (55 pounds heavier than arrival at MEPS) at age 30... And I NEVER had any fat. I blame military food and MREs. 👍🇺🇲 GOOD STUFF.
Military life was very good for me, and MREs, even better.
Seeing Mav enjoy them is a joy for me and a lot of us OG's, too.
I’d defo like that
A trick you can do to the heater if its partially working/ has issues is to grind it a bit with your hands like its hand warmers with the water.
So much Sodium to keep yuh going haha. Dont miss em but if apocalypse happens, you're g if you've got stock 😂
I'd like to see you give a speech to young adults about what it's like to do what you do in these videos.
You give us quality content, thank you
Love your videos! Also one piece is so good one of my favorite shows
USMC 2011-2015 3531
I had the great fortune to somehow always end up with the sausage patty and of course no one ever wants to trade and it was definitely top 3 worst to have especially when every meal for months is MRE’s so I would only ever eat the oats, drink & muffin/poptart (sometimes instead of muffin it would have a brown sugar poptart) ALSO eating only MRE’s gives the absolute worst, screaming, sweating & straining constipation especially when all you have is a hole to go in in the elements. Enjoy my friend!
Subscriber for 4 years,
Much Love from VA
Yes I remember eating the same more as a kid nothing else tasted like it and watching you eat it and open it up brought back memories man
Every time Mav uploads our days get better!
Mav you are awesome man I love that you zip tied your go pro mount to your hat instead of buying a hat clip lol it adds to your character 👍
Mav's so positive he can even see the good in the worst rated expired MREs lol
Combine certain parts of the mre to "cook" different things. A simple place to start is added crumbled crackers, salt, and hot sauce to a main dish.
15:37 NICE HISS……. @Steve1989MREInfo would be very proud of that hiss……..without the tray NICEEE😂🤣
Actually, I was in the Marine Corps during desert storm and chicken à la king was my favorite meal. I would actually trade for it.
Here’s an idea, your view count is astonishing, your content is worth every second. Have you ever been on any podcasts?? Man I feel like Joe Rogan would love to have you on his. Love you MAV, keep doing you
Please post a video of you taking the boat out and fishing on it. That would be awesome!
Thx for always putting a smile on my face Mav
As a marine that’s been deployed to a combat environment. It cracks me up that people eat these things as an endurance or a suffrage thing. Typically you heat everything up and pour everything in the folded bag it comes in. I never drank the beverage powders.
I love these MRE videos lol... I'd like to see a series of eating strange new foods you haven't experienced before. You're reactions are amazing.
I know Mav isn't a cooking channel per se, but I would love to see a MRE/Mav cooking fusion. Where we maybe get a catch and cook MRE
i have been watching mav since he was at 100K im so glad he made so much progress from there
God bless our troops for keeping us safe and for having to endure this food. Thank you for your service (and I'm being serious). 🇺🇸 🙏
It's a good day, Mav uploaded!
15:37
I could hear Steve1989 say “nice hiss” at that exact moment lmao
I❤️ MAV!
I❤️ MAV more when he cooks!!!!!
Dude 😎✌🏻
It wasn’t gas it was sucking in air from vacuum seal. Great vidja! Thanks for sharing. As always keep on truckin’!
Retired vet from 90-06 mres are a like playing poker ya never know what ya gonna get but the best ones are the originals with Tabasco
Would love to see an overland type of video Mav! Take the F150 up in the mountains and enjoy a campfire 🔥
Mav. We love you for your integrity, your passion, your friendliness, and your willingness to show us the world through your eyes. For the love of God, if something is called the Vomlette DONT EAT IT!
mav is one of the best camping youtubers of all time
Bro that was amazing the video was funny as hell, had me dying with the vomelette 😂
Mav, take that cocoa powder, mix the coffee creamer in, add a little water to brownie bater consistency, crush in some of the cracker, and you have a great dessert.
Mav you are mine and my kid’s favorite UA-camr everytime I put one of your videos on my kids are glued
Okay Mav...now we need a video of you elevating MRE's on a hot pot to see what you get! .😊.
Amazing video Mav ❤
Finally stepped foot on the North America continent ❤ Enjoying my stay in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 woohoo ❤
I did not mind the chicken alla, we always put the hot sauce in with it from the accessories pack. The peaches were always good. Heaters rarely came with any of the mre's form the early 90s.
Suggestions for videos: current gear review/ truck clean out / truck maintenance
Mavnificent. The cult of MAV. Keep on thinging. Always bring Tabasco or Sriracha.👍🇨🇦
One of the funniest vids you ever Uloaded….👍🏼👍🏼
Mav, I thought for sure the Desert shield one was going to be gnarly but the vomit MRE was HILARIOUS!! 😂😂😂
best UA-camr out there love the videos keep up the hard work
I was sick just watching you try to eat those. 😂😂😂😂 funny.
Watching this video all I could hear in my head was steve1989 saying "let's get this onto a tray, nice"
What a trooper.. Going in for the second bite… Props
Ah man, the omelette scene got me in stitches 😂😂😂
The dried peaches are the best. They don’t use them anymore. Wish they did. Great video Mav. Do a video with all expired can foods.
Love the channel. Would recommend slowing your ads for your merch down just a notch.
mav im happy with any video you put out 😊
Love the SteveMRE impressions in there
Mani used to love when my dad brought the Chicken Ala King home! I loved those MREs
I've watched a bunch of your videos, and I just wanned to say that you're videos are really relaxing to me. I'm not, but I appreciate you being straight edge it's very impressive. Keep it up, I'll keep watch'n 😎
i watch your videos to keep calm, thanks mav
Mav should do some good old hippy camping lol!
Where’s the vw bug and the Hippys! You even have the Mercedes to say cool kid lmao!
Hey Mav.. Great video. Always a fun time watching you. Thanks, Enjoy!! ♥️🐞🤗
Mav …God bless your digestive capabilities!
Love your videos. Chicken a la king is a classic dish, kinda saw it around in the 70s and 80s, or might see it on a brunch buffet.
I used to loveeeeee those peaches and fruit cocktail. So yummy! The peanut butter was good too.
Mt House meals are some of the best meals you can take camping, especially that Blueberry Granola.
I keep remembering the fish tongues... omg... Your best vids are the funny ones!!! Great job!
LMAO, I agree with the others. You never disappoint. Sometimes you're even freaking hilarious. Thanks for putting yourself out there for us though lol
Hello! You have a new journey. Military rations are tasty, I probably haven’t tried such ones. Hugs to you! You are crazy!!😘😘😘💖💖💖💖💖
One of my favorites! Great video!
a few summers ago I was out working on the wildland fire line, we got spiked out for 11 days fighting this spot fire. resources were pretty low and we had to rely on airdropped MRE's for food. I tried pretty much every single one, and i have a simple policy now:
Any meal that comes with a tortilla is usually pretty good.
Bro what??? That pork sausage maple flavor one is bussing with that pound cake😋 Idk who told you that haha
You’re a champ for being open minded and giving the vomlette a second chance!
Interesting idea, great video 👍
