Joe, I am so glad this video exists. It is truly Ded Bob and our dearest Clark at his finest and at his favorite festival during his favorite era of MiRF.
I saw the Ded Bob show every year at the Az Ren Fair for years. Same exact act as here, but he did it so well, and many in the audience knew it so well, that it was still a treat for everyone. Then one year I go, and suddenly Ded Bob has a distinctly different voice. One year when Ded Bob was out in front of the fairgrounds entrance, entertaining people before it opened, I asked him who he thought should portray him if they ever made a Ded Bob movie. Without a second of hesitation he said, "Brad Pitt". Funny at the time, but then it reminded me of the movie "The Greatest Show on Earth", which had a man who always wore his clown-face make-up because he was hiding out from the law. Thanks for posting this video.
I was 7 years old at the time of this recording. I saw him for the first time at the ren fair in Houston at the age of 7, and he was my introduction to stand up comedy. Almost 20 years later I would then be influenced to start my comedic journey too. I’ve been doin it for 8 years now and I owe a lot to the experience I had when I was a kid. He was crude, rude but most important, he was hilarious. You’ll be missed
It is crazy to think that I have been going to ren fest for over 15 years he was my first show around the age 12, yet this was made 1 year after I was born. R.I.P.
@@jage750 I know there are a few other puppeteers that do Ded Bob, the one at Carolina is Sluj - I saw him two weekends ago. I think there are four in all carrying on the legacy of the original Smuj
I would have been 8 years old at the time this was recorded, and I didn't live anywhere near the Michigan Renaissance Festival. I only got introduced to Ded Bob in 2017 when I took a road trip down to the Carolina Renaissance Faire. I think that one was done by Sluj who is still doing it, since I saw him a few weekends ago on my next visit to Carolina (it only took 5 years). It's like peering back in time, but also could easily have been the kind of show I'd see nowadays. One big difference though - in this video, the "Pay Attention" rule had no mention of phones... or even electronic devices. There may have been a few kids with Gameboys in the mix at the time but that would have been about it.
How does it feel to contribute some much appreciated historical footage!? Thank you so much, I was way too young for this show but I've definitely seen the more recent show as a now ye olde man. So fun seeing the ren fest 90s style :)

RIP. Genius. What a loss. We loved you Clark.
I was totally there for that! Clark you will be missed!

Great video Joe! Thanks!
I might have actually been at this sho! Truly sad to hear of Clark's passing. Best Ren Faire sho ever.
Can’t believe they were doing this 25 years ago. Just saw them today at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.
Must’ve been someone else. The actor in the video, Clark Orwick, died in March.
... I can't believe 1997 was 25 years ago. :D
