    This is one of those movies I grew up watching with my mom and sister. Whenever one of started getting upset it was always, “are you crying? There’s no crying… there’s no crying in baseballlll”

    Fun (or not so fun) fact: that massive bloody bruise on that one girl’s leg was not make up. It was an actual injury the actress endured while filming. Took a year for it to fully heal.

    I agree, I've never seen Hanks play a character quite like this in any other movie - and it's amazing. Really wholesome and wonderful movie overall!

    I love this film so much. Some great quotable lines and excellent performances. The ladies shown playing ball over the end credits were real players who the story is based on.

    Apparently, this role goes down as one of Hank’s favorite performances. He said it was lots of fun plus he was able to have his family around for the summer while they were shooting so it was one of the easier shoots as well as his character not being the traditional “good” guy role he usually plays

    My kids are always confused when I tell them "Don't run. You'll scare the chickens." We don't have chickens. Just a throw away line from the farm scene, but now my kids are stuck with it.

    She totally dropped it on purpose! I have four younger sisters and we would watch this movie all the time. We all agree that we would NEVER throw a game for each other, lmao! We are way too competitive with each other.😏

    • @that.ll_do_pig
      @that.ll_do_pig 3 дні тому +2

      Strongly disagree. No way she dropped it on purpose. She's not throwing it for her team because of her little sister after making her little sister work her ass off to earn it.

      I can't believe there are people who seriously think Dottie would come back for the World Series and betray her teammates just to make Kit feel better. Never mind that there is NOTHING in the entire movie to indicate that Dottie is the kind of person who would do such a thing. Kit won fair and square -- that's why Dottie is so proud of her.

    • @FestivalFacePaintArtist
      @FestivalFacePaintArtist 3 дні тому +1

      @ disagree, they specifically show a scene in the movie of the same play where Dottie gets railed by a girl twice Kits size and girth and she holds on to the ball no problem. Dottie is the best player by far and Kit even says early in the movie after their softball game in Oregon “you can’t even LET ME walk faster than you”? This indicates the only way Kit could ever beat Dottie is if she let her. We even have the scene with her grandsons and she tells the older one to give the younger one opportunity to shoot the ball. She is very conscious of giving the younger sibling the appearance of confidence. Like when I let my five year old nephew beat me in air hockey so he can feel good and confident in himself. It’s sweet.

  • @Catwoman-111-b2z
    @Catwoman-111-b2z 2 дні тому +2

    Dottie did not drop the ball on purpose. Why even come back to just throw the game? Why give Ellen the heads up on the pitch to get her to strike out? Remember in the beginning when they were walking? Dottie just had to walk faster. It’s called competition and that’s what helped Kit fight back and finally beat her sister.

  • @JPuReTaLeNt
    @JPuReTaLeNt 4 дні тому +19

    Everyone has their own opinion and theories. I personally think she dropped it so her little sister can finally get out her shadow. She was never coming back after that game anyways. She set her sister up for life. There’s a reason why it showed the catcher from the other team plow through her earlier and she held on like nothing. Kit didn’t hit her near as hard

    • @that.ll_do_pig
      @that.ll_do_pig 3 дні тому +1

      Kit hit her _way_ harder and there were _just_ as many signs that she did not drop it on purpose and that Kit earned it in her own. *including the scene of her not dropping it earlier. Depends on perception of the individual for sure.

    • @JPuReTaLeNt
      @JPuReTaLeNt 3 дні тому +3

      @ that’s why I said everyone has their own opinion. It’s left for us to assume whether Dottie dropped it on purpose or not. There will be no right or wrong answer. Just assumptions

    • @atmorb
      @atmorb 3 дні тому +2

      I have the same opinion as u. Even in the opening scene u could see how her heart is for younger siblings when she told her oldest grandchild to go easy on the younger one. Nothing deep but added on top of all the other hints I feel they added throughout the movie. But it could just be the way it was. As a younger sibling, I feel she dropped it on purpose 😂

    • @ruxin12
      @ruxin12 3 дні тому +2

      Yeah, Kit may have been running faster but she’s a third the size of that other girl. That combined with other hints including their relationship dynamic the entire movie lead me to believe it was on purpose.

    • @JPuReTaLeNt
      @JPuReTaLeNt 3 дні тому +2

      @@atmorb no I totally agree. Her telling her older grandson to take it easy was almost an exact comparison to her and Kit. Kit was a good player but nowhere near the level Dottie was at.

    I'm glad they left this out but there was a deleted scene right before Dottie says that she needs to leave the league, it shows her and Tom Hanks kiss. Definitely changes the whole context of why she was so distraught and wanting to leave.

    I don't think there's any chance she dropped that ball on purpose. There's no way that her ethics would allow her to do that to her team and I don't think she would make her sister work that hard for it just to give it to her in the end. All of the signs that one can use to point out that she dropped it on purpose can just as easily be used to show that she did not drop it on purpose.
