First off thanks for the excellent show, I always enjoy watching the latest episodes. I'm originally from the north of England but have lived in Victoria, Australia since 1987. I was watching David's news round up and feel that I had to clear up a few points about the report of the issue of "feral" deer here in Australia. Apart from Victoria and Tasmania deer are classed as feral. Victoria and Tasmania differ from the rest of Australia by having public land hunting. There is a system of public land hunting available in NSW which you have to book for a particular area but deer are still classed as an invasive species there. In Victoria which has by far the largest areas of year round public land hunting deer are classed as game and can only be hunted during daylight hours. On private property you are allowed to control deer populations by both daytime hunting and night time, spot light or thermal. The latest figures for deer taken last year was approximately 150,000 here in Victoria (mainly Sambar) and that is by licensed hunters and doesn't take into account deer taken by landholders!. The report about one hundred land owners wanting the government to do something about "out of control" deer numbers smacks of something straight out of the misinformation book by the Invasive Species Council which also quote numbers of deer often plucked from unfounded sources. Having deer declared vermin will do nothing for controlling deer numbers, in fact it will make matters worse as hunters have access to the Alpine National Park for ten months a year and that availability will disappear. Having deer classed as game and having to have a game licence is more a control of hunters rather than control of deer. The deer eliminated from the Great Barrier Reef was on Duck island and the deer were released there illegally in 2005. On the mainland pigs are a far greater threat to turtle nests. Keep up the good work.
It would be more amusing to bye Chris Packham Print, then auction again to the raise more money. or just hang it on the office wall. Love to see his reaction to a Country person being the print.
There is more than one type of protein! All this BS grass protein is as good as protein from meat sources is just nonsense. Animals take the protein they ingest from the forage they eat and convert it into more beneficial protein humans use. Dale Vince can eat grass if he wants to, but inform people of the whole story of protein
Good evening FSB. An aspect of modern media that I detest is over-dramatisation of news. So I was dismayed to read your email flyer for this show which stated "Labour conference bans trail hunters" which had the effect of making me think Labour had actually banned trail hunting, instead of just declining attendance at their conference - which was all your article actually reported. To put this simply, when I feel someone is playing me, I do give them my trust and I generally engage with them less and less. I may be the only one raising a comment about this but I am not the only one that noticed. If FSB is truly interested in representing field sports in Britain then please play your audience with a straight bat and do away with the yellow journalism.

I appreciate the point but David did say "Labour CONFERENCE bans trail hunters". Yes this may be easily misinterpreted but it was accurate.
