Yeah having the lyrics would've been a lot better here. Especially for like Doom Dada and Born Hater. Doom Dada is a very complex song, "Doom Dada" referring to Dadaism. The MV is weird and unusual just like the track but that's the beauty of T.O.P. He's an oddball who doesn't really fit in to the whole Kpop Idol niche. As for Born Hater, the MV shows the 7 sins, each rapper personifying one of them: Tablo is Pride, Beenzino is Envy, Verbal Jint is Lust, Mithra is Gluttony, Mino is Wrath, Bobby is Greed and B.I is the Pure. The lyrics itself are obviously about their haters but also about themselves and there's some really clever wordplay in there. The track itself sounds like a cypher with the traditional Boom-Bap beat. It's supposed to remind of Epik Highs beginnings in the early 2000s.
Personally, I think you're a little off with what sins each person is portraying. DJ Tukutz is Sloth, Tablo is Envy, Beenzino is Greed, Verbal Jint is Lust, Mithra Jin is Gluttony, Mino is Wrath, and Bobby is Pride. And then, as you said, B.I. is supposed to be the good/sinless/pure person.
@@AjunebuggybugK Actually after reading some articles and reviewing the Video i've come to this conclusion: Tukutz is Envy No one else is in his stall, he's hunched over, not really looking at the camera, which could indicate he doesn't feel entirely satisfied with his position. Also him being Envy would resonate with real life as he's always in the background in Epik High and never really in the spotlight. Tablo is Pride His stall is full of paintings by famous artists but they are crossed out, alluding to how he thinks of himself as the best or better than them. It would relate to his real life in that he's a very highly educated person which could make ppl believe he thinks he's better than others. His lyrics also indicate this. Beenzino is Sloth Sloth is described as someone not utilizing one's gifts and talents. This would resonate with Beenzino because he is often accused of only being famous due to his good looks and that he relied on his "pretty privilege" to become famous instead of his skills, in turn making him appear lazy. B.I is the Pure Not really any explanation needed. He's wearing all white and is cleaning the other guys stalls so it makes sense. Verbal Jint is Lust Again this one seems pretty obvious due to the x-rated magazines he's reading. Mithra Jin is Gluttony He's seen eating fast food and literally stuffing his mouth so again, pretty self explanatory. It also resonates with him personally because he used to be mocked for his weight for years and bullied for being "the fat one" in Epik High. Mino is Wrath He's seen with a baseball bat, tearing up things and overall showing destructive behavior, hence him being Wrath. Bobby is Greed He's wearing gold chains, has money strewn all over the floor, holding several gold trophies. In his lyrics he also talks about how people notice he's changed and he agrees. He wants the fame and money. This is the most accurate conclusion i could make out. Obviously this is just my observation but this is what makes the most sense to me based on the MV and lyrics.

You miss the point with 'Joke' by RM. English in not my first language to explain well. There's a line 'This is a meaningless wordplay' sums up the song pretty well. It's a massage to haters who think they're the real rappers and look down on idol rappers. So basically showcases the rapping skills (wordplay, end rhymes, speed etc) pleasant to the ears, which gives big impression but in reality is just Gibberish. It's a reference how some rappers calls themselves the real ones while rapping nonsence. The title 'joke' is there for a reason. Thank for the reaction, these are some good artists!

just a small comment; RM grew up aspiring to be a poet before getting into musical producing/writing and when he released joke, he was getting tons of hate from the k-hip hop community for his flow. he was always v inventive w his flow imo, but at the time the khiphop community thought rapping fast=good. so he made this response, with a continuous instrumental, no chorus etc, JUST to showcase his lyricism/flow/wordplay. if you dive into this mixtape of his, and even his future mixtapes/albums, youd know he's always prioritised a cohesive musical experience in each song. but i think joke meant smth different for him, it was targeted, not meant to be mainstream, not even really meant for the fans, even the title captures the 'joke' of the way hip hop is perceived and interpreted in korea. theres actually a bar in thus that's literally just speaking gibberish as namjoon emulates the 'fast' rapping that k-rappers love to put out without it actually having any meaning also, circling back to the production, i genuienly really enjoy it. music tends to be a holistic experience for me and i always deep dive into lyrics; namjoons lyrical and narrative stream of consciousness almost reflects the looped instrumental. however i can acknowledge that this can be perceived differently ofc, yet i feel like the only production that would've matched joke's message, would be if the insturmental gradually became more chaotic/noisy/overwhelming. yet, as namjoon wanted to highlight his delivery, i think the aggression in his voice and the 9 different flow switches conveys that perfectly, his frustration is so evident, i dont personally need more from the backing track. i just feel like the unbreaking rhythm creates this sense of urgency/relentlesness and it enhances the emotional impact of the song, its very eminem, very jcole, very kendrick at times, idk. taking namjoons music as a whole into account, i think joke was a suprising yet nice addition to his catalogue, i think you guys would enjoy his latest solo album - his most alternative work yet i would say. (quote from RM regarding this song “I normally enjoy Run The Jewels (american hip hop duo). There were a few songs I had recorded on the beat for Run The Jewels among the songs that weren’t placed on the mixtape. I believe that they make beats really well where the El-P is minimal, but is able to emphasize the auditory effect of raps.”) side note: if you two wanna explore namjoons music a little more from a producers perspective, grammy nominated SleepDeez has a series on youtube where he really dives into the influences/call backs namjoon throws into his music, hes worked w jungkook from bts before but not the entire group, yet has taken time to appreciate namjoon specifically's work, the series is very informative (about musical production in general, and black american roots) and i'd recommend to check it out in your own time
Antes de ser un idol bajo YG, T.O.P. era ya un under rapper y transmitia por radio, era un xhic Chubby y lo obligaron a bajar de peso para que fuera idol.
It's EXTREMELY important to note, and I'm surprised nobody mentioned it yet, but Big Bang originated the whole deep voice rapper/high pitch rapper dynamic in K-Pop. With T.O.P being the deep voice rapper. There are some rappers who came after him with naturally deep voices, but many try to emulate his style and pitch their voice down. Same with G-Dragon for high-pitch. A lot of rappers try to emulate his style and pitch their voice up. I feel like the newer groups for the most part have stopped trying to copy that, but it was extremely prevalent in 3rd and 4th gen boy groups to try to copy that dynamic.
Epik High brilliant, RM joke is iconic the diss track to the Rappers who said he couldn't rape fast and he made fun of them say yeah anyone can rap fast if they use bibberity bobberity and mumble. He call's them a Joke and say's his own rap is a joke. He uses a lot of word play but you'd never keep up trying with reading the lyric's hard you have to keep stopping. The gibberish is on purpose to say anyone can do that. It's meant to lazy to show anyone can be lazy like you guys. He's throwing it all back into their faces.
You do not do Epik High justice without looking at their wordplay. The song Born Hater plays on all the shit people day about every single one of those rappers. It is not a rap battle. It's very personal to every rapper. For example, people say Mithra is unattractive and fat, so he's gorging his face with food. There's a short scene where he is in the shadows while his groupmate Tablo is beaming in the forefront. That's because everyone feels Mithra is overshadowed by the more famous, English speaking Tablo. Tablo speaks about Taijinyo, the group that spearheaded the nationwide witchhunt that attacked him for his Stanford masters degree, saying it was fake (much like Obama's birth certificate mess). It caused Tablo to withdraw from society and we almost lost him. Instead, he came back with the most amazing solo album ever. Basically, that was a bad "Epik High" song you picked. Try Fan or Mr Doctor or anything from Remapping the Human Soul, Rosario, Home is Far Away, Screen Time, Umbrella, Lesson 2...
obsessed with born hater ever since it came out, and personally, it actually was a daily listen for me haha it's a seven sins type of thing per rapper. i wasn't tired of it, i think it's one of their most iconic tracks and you guys should have watched the lyric video instead because it does have the music video playing in it alongside the words for you to follow along in both english and korean :)
RM's production on Joke was a sample - Run the Jewels - Oh, my darling don't cry. It was a message to the haters, and the gibberish was RM mocking the rappers that gave him a hard time, from predebut and on. This was a song on his first mixtape in 2015. They debuted in 2013, so RM was about 19 or 20 here. He was a rapper in underground for a few years before from age 13 to 15, then he was signed with Big Hit Music, then debuted with BTS as a HIP HOP IDOL group. He's group leader and Main Rapper, and one of the main songwriters. He looks back on his first mixtape and cringes, but this song shows his rap skills, which was the goal. There are so many other great rap songs that he produced himself that are much better than this, production wise. I linked the version with the English translations. There is a lot of Korean references and word play in the song. You should check out BTS's rap line. together and apart, they are all amazing. RM has a song called changed with Wale, and a song called P.D.D. with Warren G. and those are his early years. He has two albums that are more recent (INDIGO, and Right Place, Wrong Person). RPWP has gotten positive notice by critics and the recording academy. It's being talked about as a contender for Album of the Year. Rap Monster - Joke w/Eng. The lyrics make a huge difference to the RM track. And the reason he made the song is why he made the choices in the music he did. Some songs make more sense when you know the artists choices the repeating is needed for what he is trying to say.
RM has 9 flow switches in Joke however you explained the issue of the Run the Jewels loop really well. The song was designed to be technical as a FU to haters who said he couldn’t rap. Loved the discussion about the other songs. I learned a lot. I am new to rap thru RM. I like BeWhy and VannDa too.
Really appreciate the analysis with music production, and what you hope for in krap from a professional standpoint and I’m glad you enjoyed some of iKON cuz they’re one of my favs. When it comes to hip hop and rap even in western music where it stems from, you really can’t expect much 😅 beats are repetitive and songs focus on flow and lyrics, albeit a lot have alr mentioned this and you as well at the end of the video, some songs are just there to serve it’s purpose of hyping or just spilling the artists mind into lyrics and these selection of songs we’re definitely just that. It’s a genre many people come for just for those characteristics but either way I’d encourage you both to check out more khiphop and krap even if it was just in your own time! I’m sure there are many experimental rap songs that may interest you!

iKON - ANTHEM is rapline duo only
yeah, Bobby is awesome. always. react to Bobby last solo F. is basic a dish for YG cause now ikon is free.
TOP THE BEST!
13:41 Fun fact, that's Somin from KARD before she debuted.
AND I'm waiting for them to do KARD
@@deezumi Saaaame
Omg I never paid attention to that but in this video I literally was like "damn where else do I know her from" 😂
the lyrics for RM's Joke are top tier when you know the context!!
His songs are not for average music listeners.
@@wildlotus4339 right?? tbh for me when someone listen his songs w/o reading lyrics its just escutar por escutar... specially when its from these videos for kpopers
@@wildlotus4339cuz Namjoon music and lyrics is for people who care and appreciate music. I love his music. He doesn't make mainstream shi. He do wherever he likes. That's why he is artist. I don't consider him kpop idol. 😌👌🏻
Says the army lmao if the appreciation and compliment come from outside fandom or hip-hop but it's just his fan hyping him up. Army are also known for pretending to be local on twitter. Y'all so lame. "His music is for soMeone who have tAste and hoW to appreciate music" I saw that comment thousands times from army y'all be saying anything. Mostly from Indian girl army. It sounds like cope. Everyone don't like BTS music just accept it.
@@flymetotheup9904lol they have yet to listen to RPWP who has received high reviews from NME, Rolling Stone etc. And Kazinho himself has mentioned in their 2nd BTS reaction video that he has become a fan of Agust D's music but yeah sure only Army hypes them up lmao
T.O.P no solo es rapero, tambien es actor y recibio premios en corea antes que lo funaran, actuará de nuevo en la serie Squit Game.
I think rap is so lyrical so it's unfortunate y'all weren't able to see the lyrical play of the raps
"Epik high rosario" is good song. Search for it.
That wouldn't be a battle but a cypher.
Commenting on anything from a point of view of experts rather than simple listener requires a bit more knowledge.
I think they should stick to react or commenting to kpop cuz k-rap or Rap/Hip-pop need more knowledge on the subject
@@Stellaryz They don't seem to know much about kpop either tbh

Bobby broke the stereotype that rap idols don't have good rap talent who just sing fast without paying attention to good flow and so on. Bobby was even still a trainee at that time and YG sent him to SHOW ME THE MONEY 3 with B.I, and Bobby became the only rap idol who won SHOW ME THE MONEY (rap competition) to date which made him known by KHH (Korean hip hop) and he was nicknamed "king of youth" and the only rap idol who won SHOW ME THE MONEY and when he won he was still 19 years old and still the youngest when he won, and until now there has been no rapper idol who won SHOW ME THE MONEY
@@ikonic6666He is the epitome of all the negative stereotypes of idol rappers what are you even talking about. And that show is a joke at best lol. Also based on his answers interviews about hip hop culture and music he is clueless to say the least. I think he has gost writters because how else can you explain the nonsense he told there that made hip hop community ridicule him along with BP when it resurfaced on internet.
Not including G-Dragon and Jay Park in a k-rap video is CRINIMAL
Jay Park is a rat

just a small comment; RM grew up aspiring to be a poet before getting into musical producing/writing and when he released joke, he was getting tons of hate from the k-hip hop community for his flow. he was always v inventive w his flow imo, but at the time the khiphop community thought rapping fast=good. so he made this response, with a continuous instrumental, no chorus etc, JUST to showcase his lyricism/flow/wordplay. if you dive into this mixtape of his, and even his future mixtapes/albums, youd know he's always prioritised a cohesive musical experience in each song. but i think joke meant smth different for him, it was targeted, not meant to be mainstream, not even really meant for the fans, even the title captures the 'joke' of the way hip hop is perceived and interpreted in korea. theres actually a bar in thus that's literally just speaking gibberish as namjoon emulates the 'fast' rapping that k-rappers love to put out without it actually having any meaning
also, circling back to the production, i genuienly really enjoy it. music tends to be a holistic experience for me and i always deep dive into lyrics; namjoons lyrical and narrative stream of consciousness almost reflects the looped instrumental. however i can acknowledge that this can be perceived differently ofc, yet i feel like the only production that would've matched joke's message, would be if the insturmental gradually became more chaotic/noisy/overwhelming. yet, as namjoon wanted to highlight his delivery, i think the aggression in his voice and the 9 different flow switches conveys that perfectly, his frustration is so evident, i dont personally need more from the backing track. i just feel like the unbreaking rhythm creates this sense of urgency/relentlesness and it enhances the emotional impact of the song, its very eminem, very jcole, very kendrick at times, idk. taking namjoons music as a whole into account, i think joke was a suprising yet nice addition to his catalogue, i think you guys would enjoy his latest solo album - his most alternative work yet i would say.
(quote from RM regarding this song “I normally enjoy Run The Jewels (american hip hop duo). There were a few songs I had recorded on the beat for Run The Jewels among the songs that weren’t placed on the mixtape. I believe that they make beats really well where the El-P is minimal, but is able to emphasize the auditory effect of raps.”)
side note: if you two wanna explore namjoons music a little more from a producers perspective, grammy nominated SleepDeez has a series on youtube where he really dives into the influences/call backs namjoon throws into his music, hes worked w jungkook from bts before but not the entire group, yet has taken time to appreciate namjoon specifically's work, the series is very informative (about musical production in general, and black american roots) and i'd recommend to check it out in your own time
Thanks for this, I will watch SleepDeez for RM's sexy brain. 💜
You watched Bobby 3 times. .the last one, ikon anthem...was extremely early in their career... just boys bragging
I like RM and epikhigh and bobby’s work the most
No Zico and Block B
If its rap, beWhy is a good artist. Like I personally find his art very attractive
I was hoping it was a more recent bobby song
Epik High brilliant, RM joke is iconic the diss track to the Rappers who said he couldn't rape fast and he made fun of them say yeah anyone can rap fast if they use bibberity bobberity and mumble. He call's them a Joke and say's his own rap is a joke. He uses a lot of word play but you'd never keep up trying with reading the lyric's hard you have to keep stopping. The gibberish is on purpose to say anyone can do that. It's meant to lazy to show anyone can be lazy like you guys. He's throwing it all back into their faces.
He couldn't do what fast????
@@ilickgrandmas2854 They said RM couldn't rape fast
Try Fan or Mr Doctor or anything from Remapping the Human Soul, Rosario, Home is Far Away, Screen Time, Umbrella, Lesson 2...
how could u said rappers but not including G DRAGON
I’M SAYING

We need an agust D reaction
obsessed with born hater ever since it came out, and personally, it actually was a daily listen for me haha it's a seven sins type of thing per rapper. i wasn't tired of it, i think it's one of their most iconic tracks and you guys should have watched the lyric video instead because it does have the music video playing in it alongside the words for you to follow along in both english and korean :)
Highly recommend you check out Epik High song called AntiHero it their latest song it's phenomenal!!

The lyrics make a huge difference to the RM track. And the reason he made the song is why he made the choices in the music he did. Some songs make more sense when you know the artists choices the repeating is needed for what he is trying to say.
rm's mixtape track sample is by run the jewels - Oh My Darling (Don't Cry)
RM has 9 flow switches in Joke however you explained the issue of the Run the Jewels loop really well. The song was designed to be technical as a FU to haters who said he couldn’t rap. Loved the discussion about the other songs. I learned a lot. I am new to rap thru RM. I like BeWhy and VannDa too.

would love to see krnb and more khiphop!
If you did RM then do Suga too (a rapper from bts)
nah I was waiting for Epik high's Anti-hero ...

I would recommend Killing Verse of Justhis. Is just a bunch of bars of whole songs and it's really amazing the different beats and flows.
You should try watching/listening to TOP’s Doom Dada live performance.
Unfortunately the new rappers only focus on the MVs but when you go to their concerts they can only sing you half-hearted music and then they only talk or even sometimes their voice doesn't come out anymore (unfortunately that's what rap has become. 2016 onwards) it's just an opinion
