I confess the only thing I am uncomfortable with is the fuel gage, but overall there is a LOT to like about this plane. Love the monster tires. Great that a plane like this can be had for around $15K. Cost is the thing that keeps most of us on flight sims and dreams.
I am very impressed with the flight performance of your airplane. Much better performance than a 65hp Piper J-3 Cub. The wingspan looks so short to perform that well. The empty weight must be very low. Less than 300 pounds is my guess. I do not like that fuel system and tank location at all. That plane needs wing tank(s). If you have an accident you will be doused with gasoline and likely burn to death. I never cared for nose tanks in my Cubs either but at least the fuel is in front of a pilot. That type engine is prone to forced landings. Belt drive too. But it sure flys well. Short landings are impressive too.
Take off can be anything from 90 to 225 feet. Landing can be 70 to 200 feet. These are typical for me and probably not for anyone else. It is going to vary greatly depending on pilot skill, wind speed and direction, density altitude, fuel amount on board. It's about 19 feet long wings folded.
Oh what the freak!? I go to your belite vids for ultralight stuff but have been following the highlander build... had no clue i was watching the same dude! Dang bro. Love your ultra cub. Bummer you sellin it! Wish i could buy it!
I would buy an enclosed trailer to bring it home to North Carolina. You said it is "8.5 to 9 feet wide" with wings folded. I take it that the maximum width is determined by the width of the tail? I would need to get a trailer wide enough.
What a nice little plane. I could really go somewhere in something like that. The price is right. Not a real pilot tho. Lol. Last thing I flew was a hang glider in 2005.
I really enjoy both. Each one is its own type of flying. I have flown PPG for 19 years and fixed wing for 22 years and I cant get enough of either one.
The $14k price might be fine for me but I wouldn't need your dolly and spare parts. When could I pick it up? Looks like your're a farmer so this is your busy season? Please respond to my other comments below when you get a chance.
I am very curious to know if you, the seller, would benefit from making all those repairs right before selling the plane as opposed to just leaving that work for the buyer and charging less. Is it reasonable to expect that the increase in price will cover the cost for parts replacement? Or did you mainly do those repairs because the chances of someone buying the plane is a lot lower if it's due for all that maintenance?
Repairs/maintenance/ annual was done to keep the aircraft airworthy and safe. In my opinion it has nothing to do with aircraft value or trying to negotiate less or more money out of a sale. I did the repairs and routine maintenance for myself, so I am completely confident that I am operating a safe aircraft. I have this airplane for sale but it is still something I am going to fly. I would not feel comfortable handing over an aircraft that I had built to anyone else if I did not feel it was 100% airworthy and safe to operate.
The bends are too tight. It should really be formed on a mold in an oven. I see it on all kinds of kit planes and ultralights. My replacement windscreen is already starting to stress crack.
@@kevincamp189 I'll have to read about Bayer. I've never heard of that. How thick is the lexan/ polycarbonate? I ask because I normally cold bent it like sheet metal and never had any cracking or checking develop.
@@joewoodchuck3824 I was told Bayer is just a different brand then lexan. It's supposed to be the same product. I think its .060 thickness. I dont have too much experience with polycarbonate windscreens, any tips you have I'd love to hear..... I didn't know about colt bending it.
I have a 2018 Vittorazi 185 Moster dual start, with nano trike, nice Smart Glider, and a Gopher training glider. I would trade you. Full Paramotor setup, worth over 18k$. Helmet w/com, etc low hours. Carbon fiber. Top of line pluma comfort harness. With emergency parachute
Sad the company is out of business. With exception of Kolb and Aerolite, seems like most of these ultralight aircraft manufactures go out of business. Does anyone have plans for this aircraft? I noticed it has a Hirth F23 engine. Not cheap but probably worth it.
im interested in it but want to know what your going to want for it to know if i could afford it or not. please let me know what you want for it and then i will know if its even a possibility. thanks
The one thing that you neglected to say after you said you would be willing to sell is the asking price I am in the market for a little airplane but I'm not sure if I want ultra light right now or light sport if you would get back with me and let me know the particulars more in-depth especially the price I would greatly appreciate it thank you.
I have had a lot of distractions now that it is spring time and the weather is nice. About one more week and I will be done with painting all of the steel parts and I will have the next video out.
Where are you located? If you are within a few hour drive I would like to inspect it and discuss a price. Are you on Facebook? Did you purchase your engine from Recreational Power Engineering? I'm about 1/2 hour from them.
Great Job on the build, & impressive 70'L/90'TO,, Don't know how well it would fly the 1500miles to Oregon... but what an adventure trying...
Be Safe
I was thinking the same thing........ to Jacksonville.
Kevin - Just found your video AGAIN! Wish I could have flown this beauty ;)
I could have watched that all night. Thanks.
Watching motor pitch forward at 9:02 I should remove my Avid cowling & film it. You have a fun plane !

That thing is so cool man! I would really love to get into this stuff!
Beautiful build, I had been looking for one but not right now. Thanks for the info
any build progress video, many of us pulling for you and love to see the build progress. Nice landing, by the way, err touch and go..
It will be another week or two. Then I will have the painting video out
Good flying. Nice 3 point landings.
A STOL Ultralight. Very nice!

Fuel cells can be made to fit anything.....No Spill.... No Leaks.... Made in Oregon and on UA-cam.
Dang, looks like a fun machine! Not in the market thanks to finances but I'm interested in something like a tail-dragger.
Very good and nice UL congratulations!
Очень аккуратный самолёт! Качественное и интересное видео!
How long is the typical Take off roll? How long is typical landing? What is the length folded up approximately?

Apparantly he is shifting to the chipper SS "Single Seat" and quit the cub line
It helps to have your own airstrip like this ....it can be hard to find one that will take a ul these days
What a powerful engine sir
Man, she comes up quick!
I'm a PPC pilot looking to get into fixed wing.
How much length you have on your strip to be comfortable?
Nice Work Kevin, keep it up.
Cool flying Jeep 😂💗
Nice plane👍
Kevin, can a starter and battery be added? If it's an easy hand start ok but I'm not as young as you so pull starting is getting harder for me.
The Belite looks nice!

Takes off like a STOL ...LOL Nice !
It's beatiful all I need is the money to buy it...
That is so cool that you built. That is neat I want one actually I want to learn to fly one of the little Ultra Lights if you know
It’s beautiful well done!
I love this !!!!!!
beautiful aircraft!!!!
How many hours on engine? Hobbs meter? When did you complete the build? How many hours have you flown it?
Oh, I see, you have logged 60 hours in a logbook or is there a hobbs for actual run time?
What's the trailer like for $1,600? Flatbed or enclosed? I have a car hauler flatbed? Photo?
Muy bueno te felicito es hermoso !!!!!

i would live to hear why you prefer paragliders over 3 axis ultralight! ppl trying debate what id rather have.. probably both

Классный самолет. Есть видео о его постройке? Элероны совмещены с закрылками?
Translation:
Красавчик!!! 👏👍👍👍
Меня интересует двигатель, можете написать его параметры, буду очень благодарен 👍😉
I have the Kitfox, beautiful plane. It almost looks like Belite spoiled the design, making it more generic UL and less classic bushplane look.
Beautiful!
What was the price? He mentioned it once and it was inaudible.
Ohh great work man

Did you sell it already? Looks sharp!
Is this part 103 compliant? And where do you live?
You have the engine cowl. Is it painted to match?
Folding wings?

Add another zero And can prob find something
Are the fabric and paint as good as it looks in this video?
Yes
wow, this video is on the same day as my birthday!
How mutch do you want for the plane
How much do these guys sell for?
I'm interested if it's the right price
Would like for you to tell me what the price is, I don't low ball so asking price would be helpful. Thanks

I wonder why the plastic got stress cracks. Ive never seen polycarbonate do that.

What is Max weight for pilot. I am 320. Is that to big for a ultralite cause I'm going to buy one if not. Just got a settlement n I wanna fly
Payload is around 300 lbs

Saludos desde República Dominicana me gustaría poder construir el mío propio pero no tengo los planos para hacerlo Cres poder prestarme lo
Yet?
Have you sold it yeat
Вы продали этот самолет?
Kool 👍 Can 2 fit inside ? And with an aircraft this small do we need a pilot's License ?
Ultralights are part 103 and you do not need a licence. You can not take a passenger in any part 103 aircraft.
Кевин, отличный самолёт! Где вы живёте?
Do the wings fold? Is there a trailer?
The wings do fold. I can include a trailer with it for another $1600.00.
So nice.👍👍
Is this still for sale? If so how much?
What's your lowest price
How much you asking

Are there any more uploads coming on your highlander? I am thoroughly enjoying them.
Yes there will be. I should be done with painting all the steel parts soon and that will be the next video.

Love your plane! How does the flaperons and the aileron's work at the same time if they're not split in half? Just curious I don't know
There is a mixer that combines the funtions when the flaps are deployed
