Jesus doesn’t only reference hell, he describes it in great detail. He says it is a place of eternal torment (Luke 16:23), of unquenchable fire (Mark 9:43), where the worm does not die (Mark 9:48), where people will gnash their teeth in anguish and regret (Matt. 13:42), and from which there is no return, even to warn loved ones (Luke 16:19-31). He calls hell a place of “outer darkness” (Matt. 25:30),
@@hintoflimetostitochip79782 years later I'm thinking the same thing. Is there a version of this without music? I just feel it takes away from what Rodney is saying.
There are more people like him than you know, but they are all usually isolated always bettering their craft and not seeking fame or attention for the sake of freedom, progress, and love for their craft.
“If there is anything, just find joy in what you do for the sake of it, and then recognize how you are being shaped through in the process. Hopefully you can become a better man through it.”- Rodney Mullen

I did so many amazing climbs... the eiffel tower... the pyramid of kheops... oratoire st-joseph... the old champlain bridge before it gets destroyed... la tour totale.. It goes on and on and on.. When he said "when you land a trick... everything lights up... its crazy.. but its hollow.. it cant drive you" So many people I love think I am crazy and suicidal or I just want to flex with these amazing pictured we do.... thats not what I want... Bro I just experienced the same. I almost lost my leg 17 years ago in a motorcycle accident, today i am 34 and came back to skate. I have cried every time I land a trick. This is insane❤❤❤
I’m not crying, you’re crying.😭. For real though. To understand this man’s heart. He doesn’t claim to be the inventor of skateboarding. He talks about passion. Those endless nights with friends, trying to hit those tricks. This great man invited all the tricks.
Even though he inventened almost every single street trick out there, and is the GOAT, he's the most humble person around. We need more Rodney's in this world!
He is the only person I have ever seen that actually made his passion his life. Most people including me, just move on to the next hobby. Or they abandon their passion after a while. I’ve never seen his level of passion anywhere. I think he won at life honestly.
But if you look at someone like gsp he doesn’t fight anymore but he still trains and stuff just for fun. There are others out there, look at slash, he never stopped playing guitar, neither did Keith Richard’s, why would they stop? But I hear ya, I used to love skateboarding, I was good, wish I kept going but other stuff got in the way. He’s still amazing though, there’s different styles just like everyone has their own signature.) but the way I skated definitely had a limited window. At least I thought it did, nyjah has been hitting huge handrails for decades so I dunno maybe he’s paving the way for what seemed impossible too. Sorry for the rant! The video got me going lol
This guy's a true artist. I clicked on this because it had so little views. I feel kind of bad for people that miss this video they do themselves a disservice. Legend.
Rodney is a Savant' You can hear his passion when he speaks, this is why he cries by the end of most conversations, He also forms pictures with his hands and mind when he speaks, so when he sk8's he truly is creating the art in his mind first, then bringing it to life through his body. This is the definition of a true artist and his canvas is the world, and his brush is the skateboard, there will most likely not be another Rodney Mullen of our time.
He’s part scientist as well. The way he describes each tiny part of nailing a trick, he stacks tiny parts together until he knows all he has to do is make sure his eyes are on the right spot and his back shoulder is at the proper angle…and the rest does itself.
I agree. If any it might be Andy Anderson. He reminds me a lot about Rodney by the way he thinks about his board and his tricks. Another scientist on the streets.
Its insane that one person invented so many tricks that never existed. Rodney is pure creativity and an inspiring spokesperson for pursuing authentic passion in life
This, and i also think he was in the very first few to come up with the baggy street skater's cloth style, often associate with 90's rap music wich had a huge influence on street skateboarding... even his globe shoes models were pretty stylish. I remember buying his Rms3 model for 130$, wich was very expensive in 1998, the shoes i landed 10 staired 360 flip 😎 I can barely olly today
I would say it is more about the process actually. A journey usually ends a process can go on and on and on and it can adapt to changes around just like Mr Godfather Rodney Mullen:)
When he was invited at Tom Bilyeu, at a certain moment Rodney became immensely emotional. In that moment I felt like I have to stop the clip and think about my life for a few minutes. I was thinking what in my life would make me as emotional as he was about the story of his life. Such a brilliant soul!
Outsmart & Outwork I agree with your opinion on his outspoken conviction, .... aside from being at the top of the mountain so to speak; unless your trying to climb it ,...consider yourself lucky. I crave less craziness and normalcy like a vampire craves blood, so unless your chasing something big, consider yourself very lucky.
Copernican Revolution 2.0 I love listening to Rodney speak. I feel I learn more from him speaking, than just watching him skate. He opens my mind; loosens my mind. I’m less tense because of his words. It’s okay to be vulnerable and different.

Shit yeah I'd rarely go out for the day with the skater before watching some of his parts (mullen vs song 1 and 2 back in the day for me), got me psyched and set a positive and fun tone for the day.
This interview broke down more walls than my parents, loved ones and people I looked up to have ever had. I don’t know Why I feel so broken in tears right now. Just thinking why I let people defer me for doing was drives me, what I love to do and care nothing about the fam and success it gives me. Why I pushed away the thing that speaks to me and defines me. I hope one day I get to meet him someday. Love you Rodney.
Darkcloud1983 This is good! This is true for so many probably most of us. Look for this yearning. As Mullen says: cultivate it. You probably have to work hard to give it space and priority since your brain is not at all used to it. What it’s all about: it’s intangible. May you (re)find your piano or harpsichord! The fact that he skates alone at the morning without any inspiration makes him think outside of that box that everybody knows and everybody sees .Thats soo interesting bcs he got the full potential of his creativity when he was alone with his passion his skateboard. Its like a baby that no one show him how to talk he just do it like he think it should be .Soooo cool huge respect from that person :)
Come 0:50 I was already tearing up, utterly moved by his words. This man, Rodney Mullen, is one of the two or three human beings I've come across that I could listen to and hear until the End of Time.
Rodney is such a gem. A truly beautiful mind and an incredible inspirational person, who brought skateboarding to another level. I could easily listen to him for hours. He's so humble and peaceful and lighten up something inside each of us. That mentor and friend most people need in life.
I absolutely idolized Rodney as a kid. My friends and I studied his tricks like calculous. But I had no idea what he was like as a person. I see now that his deepness and intellect runs parallel. This is amazing.
Great guy trapped under the weight of his own genius - Thank God he was able to express his genius in the physical form - Thank God for Rodney Mullen !
I met Rodney at an event after he gave a talk. He was once of the nicest, must genuine people I have ever met. I grew up with the Bones Brigade and talking to him about that influence he had on me as a skater back then and watching the Bones Brigade movies and then going out and trying to do those tricks, he was appreciative and honored. I felt like if given the chance he would have kept talking to me for hours. It was a wonderful experience and one I will never forget. I would love to sit down and talk to him again some day!
I skated from age 11-19, Rodney was always my favorite. I’m 31 now, haven’t touched a board in over a decade but I still watch his videos, he will always be the GOAT
I can’t get over how utterly well Rodney Mullen looks. What a picture of pure contentment and vitality. His levels of intrinsic motivation are off the chart - THAT is what brings joy.
Heard many motivational speakers from different walks of life, backgrounds, and professions over the years. Vast majority fall utterly short of his unequivocal and wholesome ability to speak through his heart and soul. A great skater, absolutely. Moreover, an exceptional human being that are few and far in between these days. God Bless you Rodney and thank you🙏🏼
I've watched this around 100 times over the last few years. Thank you for the awesome edit of this interview, your overlaying of music and clips truly make these speeches shine.
"I see people who have had success, I see boredom for the most part in them, and then I see a tombstone." The man understands being at the top, and articulates it well in his own way. I suspect he is well read. Especially in an age where we are struggling more and more to articulate our thoughts, and we connect on the most basic of common grounds. We have monalisa in our heads but only four colors in our mouths. We are missing colors when we speak and it's heartbreaking to watch each year.
It's exceptionally awesome to hear Rodney talk about the joy of skating and what it makes him and brings him. It makes me really appreciate that I have found something in my life that brings me that kind of peace, listening to him reminds me to cherish it!
I had a promising trajectory with a skateboard career.... was flow for DC. Watching this makes me realize what drugs robbed me of... not the potential game or "success" .... It took something fun, Intuitive, something that made me who I am away from me..... It has robbed me of ten years of my life.. just pushed my fiance away with my addiction last year. Still recovering. Trying to move forward and heal . The drugs have changed my life. I live somewhere totally different, no social life. I make music and art but I think one of the biggest missing pieces is my board. It's such a spiritual journey to be a human let alone a skateboarder.
What an amazing person. Not only was I inspired by his skating but you could just see the passion and enjoyment he got from skating in a lot of his clips. Then you hear what a genuine soft spoken, creative, inspiration and humble guy he is, like in this video and you’re like wow. What a legend you truly are Rodney. Bravo.
Rodney Mullen is the best street skater of all time. There's something special about him. When Plan B Questionable came out it blew my mind. I wish I could get another copy of it! It's cool to hear from him what he thinks of his career. So humble, but passionate.
The guy regarded as the greatest street skater in the world, who has the respect of all skateboarders worldwide, basically says that the admiration that came with his stature was exciting, but ultimately hollow and unfulfilling, and that the satisfaction of accomplishing what he set out to do, and loving every minute of it, even through the hard times, is what really fulfilled him and mattered the most. Lots of lessons to be learned in that.
Watching and listening to Rodney’s words always makes me emotional. Rodney is one of the rare few who truly TRULY understands himself and truly understands what life is about. 99.99999999% of the people have it wrong. Man, I admire this guy so much.
I once idolized this man. I had no idea he was so deep in thinking about the philosophy of life and so on. I'm actually glad I didn't find this until adulthood so I can really appreciate it. I never did meet my goals of the Casper to 360 flip but I did get pretty good for a while there.. Literally 20 years ago now but I still remember I always used an element centered Featherlite with tensor lows, red bones bearings and extra hard wheels. Those were the days
Greatest skateboarder/ person of all time dude just has so much knowledge and has peace and serenity in his life and in his heart. He is a god send. Every skateboarder in the world who finds joy in landing that trick you struggled with for so long owes this man. Much love to Rodney! It wasn't Tony Hawk who made me want to skate it was this guy!! So much talent wish he didn't age man for real the things he could do can do on a board I miss watching his tapes
A human like Rodney makes you want to remind those you love that you love them and apologize to those you have wronged every time he speaks. I am so glad and the world is so fortunate that Rodney ended up flourishing rather than in addiction and/or in other destructive outcomes which is what happens to so many brilliant and wonderful humans that don't feel they fit in and struggle at home when they are young. Thank you Rodney. You and those like you make life significantly less tragic and the day filled with more hope.
It's one the most important things in our personal journeys, not to get caught in what others think is prestigious and worthy of doing, but exactly what Rodney said, find something you want to do just for the sake of it, everything else is always gonna left you hollow.
My only hope is that Rodney understands what he has given to myself and other skateboarders like me.His gift to us was showing us through his brilliant innovative skateboarding the things that are possible on a board and giving us the understanding that we can keep taking skateboarding to new levels as individuals so that this great sport continues to progress and stay fresh!!!Thank you,Thank you, THANK YOU Mr.Rodney Mullen!!!!!
Pure love... An idol that will never die. An inspiration still at 45 and I started when I was 12. The second week with a plastic banana board I struck my front tooth bad. The dentist had to operate my tooth. After that I knew, it was still worth it it was so worth it. Many broken bones and a healing soul my love for skateboarding will live on til the day I die! Thank you mullen you are the godfather of what I fought for for so many years! Danny/ Sweden.
😭 this is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Been skating since 1988. I admired him back then and can’t believe the power of his words and the impact he has had on us today as skaters, but more importantly as human beings.
Oh man!!! I could likely go on reading and Thumbs Upping every comment on here, to be sure. Rodney was the shit when I was coming up in the 1980's, and still is! I only learned last year that he is autistic and that made so much sense as to his level of passion and devotion to his craft. He is an amazing and brilliant man! Love you brother!
❤ I wouldn't have understood this when I was 18 as much as I do now at 21 and that's proof I've grown❤ Thankyou Rodney for everything including inspiring me to be more spiritual and faithful
When people discriminate you for what ever you do. Just remember you find joy peace and happiness doing it. Even if you not master it to perfection. Love what you're doing, that makes you happy. 😎 And peace out to all the artist. 🤟
Thank you Rodney. When you performed to the theme of Charlie Brown back in the 80s.... my life changed forever. An inspiration to the skateboarding world... thank you so much.
I wish everyone could listen to rodney and really hear what he is saying, these men impacted my life immensely at 13 years old in 1988, then to watch my kids idolize some of these great people later in life ❤
Rodney is a jewel. A really rare one, very special. I’m stoked I got to skate and grow up learning from this dudes videos and seeing him grow and develop. Dudes absolutely a real one.
One of the few that can accurately describe what keeps skaters going. It’s an incredibly difficult thing to articulate to someone who doesn’t understand the time and effort and pain and suffering that skaters endure during their journey. I’ll always love his talks because there’s so much that can transfer into any aspect of life, whether you are a skater or not.
I'm the same age as Hawk, and I think Rodney is a couple years older, and what Rodney is saying is about remembering that you are doing something because you love it is so important. At 54 I believe that though you always want to be working on something and progressing, that you must also find ways to take life in and find enjoyment with everything you can along the way. In the past I'd bust my as&%, achieve, feel unfulfilled, then sabotage with drink, feel guilty, and start achieving again. Plan and work for tomorrow "while" enjoying today!
If hearing rodney speak makes you cry, it's likely the recognition of what you could have been and had it you hadn't sacrificed the most authentic parts of yourself like most of us do. Rodney is Rodney, and no one else, whether you like him or not, and because of that, he is truly humble.

The man understands being at the top, and articulates it well in his own way.
The Best Techical Skater In The World Rodney Mullen My Inspiration Me Running Skate In Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 1995 To 2008 💪🏽🔥🔥
What an amazing person. Not only was I inspired by his skating but you could just see the passion and enjoyment he got from skating in a lot of his clips. Then you hear what a genuine soft spoken, creative, inspiration and humble guy he is, like in this video and you’re like wow. What a legend you truly are Rodney. Bravo.
Listening to Rodney.. his message contains such raw and profound wisdom. So inspired.
Rodney Mullen is the best street skater of all time. There's something special about him. When Plan B Questionable came out it blew my mind. I wish I could get another copy of it! It's cool to hear from him what he thinks of his career. So humble, but passionate.
That Plan B trilogi was the shit. 2nd hand smoke
@@mhl4886And Virtual Reality!
I have so much Love and Admiration for Rodney. I can listen to him talk all day. He’s a true hero.
I could listen to him talk for hours
So inspirational :) God bless him
makes me tear up. skateboarding for ever. big up rodney!.
Watching and listening to Rodney’s words always makes me emotional. Rodney is one of the rare few who truly TRULY understands himself and truly understands what life is about. 99.99999999% of the people have it wrong. Man, I admire this guy so much.
His wisdoms as deep as the ocean that no one cares to discover.
I got chills listening to this.
You’re one of my childhood hero’s Rodney. Much love bro. Thank you for your insight!
Find joy in whatever it is you are doing and it'll mould you into the best version of yourself!
Beautiful words, beautiful soul and man
Not just love, but life also. Much respect and flowers for the legend.
One of the most influential people in my life, not just my sk8ing but they way I try live my life as well
So sincere, so honoust, so real!respect to you Rodney!so much love!
This interview changed my life. Thank you Rodney
"You shape it, it shapes you."
Wow...
You and those like you make life significantly less tragic and the day filled with more hope.
thanks rodney for opening my eyes again, seriously
It's one the most important things in our personal journeys, not to get caught in what others think is prestigious and worthy of doing, but exactly what Rodney said, find something you want to do just for the sake of it, everything else is always gonna left you hollow.
He is such a beautiful soul
Still my favourite quote
"I dont want to belong"
Thank for this Rodney
😭 this is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Been skating since 1988. I admired him back then and can’t believe the power of his words and the impact he has had on us today as skaters, but more importantly as human beings.
You rarely see someone speak so passionately so often this man is a treasure
The passion is godly
Honesty. I can't thank you enough... I stumbled across this, much like I have stumbled for most of my life. This truly opened my eyes .
Launching off the tombstone of boredom… Rodney Mullen the one and only god bless you brother thank you for everything... 🙏💜🗽🇺🇸🦅
Needed to hear this one today!
Simply the best! Thanks Rodney
That was way deeper than I signed up for, but so worth it. This philosophy can be applied to your entire life. Love y'all!
A truly beautiful soul. Such an inspiration
Truly an absolute legend
The song btw is "You and Me" by Borrtex.
Thanks!
Great interviewer, too. Listens quietly and intently.
I wish Rodney would live for ever! You will always be my favorite skateboarder and person!
A truly wonderful human being!
This man, Rodney Mullen, is one of the most down to earth, humble speaker that I have heard. He is very calm and open.
Great Words, an honor to hear them!!!
Thank you. Thanks a lot for sharing this with our world.
If hearing rodney speak makes you cry, it's likely the recognition of what you could have been and had it you hadn't sacrificed the most authentic parts of yourself like most of us do. Rodney is Rodney, and no one else, whether you like him or not, and because of that, he is truly humble.
❤Rodney Mullen❤ still in awe of this person, his creativity amazes me
Rodney Mullen is an inspirational person. Above and beyond skating. Drive, Focus, accomplish. but, fuck the accomplishments. On to the next. Great vid
Wonderful video. Goes far beyond just skateboarding. Take anything you want to do and apply the concept.
I taught Rodney many of the tricks he knows. So glad for his success!!
One of the more amazing pieces of insight I've ever heard. If not the most amazing.
THPS2 first time I discovered Rod. Watched his reels over and over. Not surprised a poetic skater is a poetic man and based man.
Thank you Sir Rodney !!!
One of the most beautiful speeches I've ever heard by far!!!! Holy shit
