I really don't understand how some people prefer the american accent than the british. British is 100x more beauty and i feel he is more easier to understand. (I'm Brazilian, so, i speak portuguese)

I quite agree with you. The American accent, especially with its rhotic 'Rs' is more ostentatious and demonstrative, and seems to me a tad more 'aggressive' to the ear, whereas the British accent is more humble, flowing, soft and harmonious.

Not really this is just one British accent…many other British accents are worse the American accent which is more “standard”

Maybe is your sweet voice, maybe your impressive beauty, maybe your delicate way of talking about learning a language, with music, beauty, even poetry and literature. These are your lovely touch, your signature! You make things easier! Thank you!

She speaks like water from fountains
Like the morning on the mountain
Almost as clear, she has the eyes
As the white walls deep Spain inside
The night-blue of her dreams attracts
She knows the words that mesmerize
    I know another dawn's coming
When in her dress, fair, she appears
One day I'll write a lovely poem
With all the delights she teaches me
So that I am never parted again
From that girl who accompanies me
She knows the islands I think of
And the other half of my delusions
She already knows that between her and me
The more space there is, the less I breathe.
    😘🌹❤

Essence of sweetness and pristine melody
None 'fore her e'er sounded so utterly lovely
What is harmony, music, chirp of birds
What's a melody if Katharine be not heard
What's a dawn, the light, be she not in sight
What is joy? I ask...If Katharine be not by.

I have been learning to speak with an English accent for two reasons: 1.) I have always loved listening to all different accents spoken in the UK and wished I could speak like someone from England. 2.) I am auditioning for community theatre plays in my area and love British plays, so I want to be able to audition for these.
I shadow you while listening to your videos to help improve my accent in connected speech.

    Hello, Katharine! ❤️
That's a great lesson for all of us! ✨️ I had been struggling with my pronunciation, I always sounded like a robot or my language was always so mechanical.
But, these tips are so life-changing for me, I especially was confused about how to pronounce the word, 'But' to make my speech a little smoother, and here's my solution! 🥰
You are classy, and elegant, like Princess Diana, as I always think, as well as you're doing good at technology, I am sure about that, otherwise, we wouldn't have got you on UA-cam, right? 😊
Loved that desk, I spend most of my time studying, so I guess this helps! ☺️
Thank you for your amazing lesson, Katharine! 😘😘😘

Hello, Katharine.😊 Now I understand Connected Speech is all about peace, love and unity(not division), which we definitely need at this moment. I totally agree that unity is the future.
I particularly find the helping R or the linking R quintessential British English, which sounds more lovely like music than, say, American English. Plus, it's such a fun for us to romanticize the process of learning English.

I'm very glad to see you address this topic, Katharine. I am trying to address these same issues, even if in a different way. I find that connected speech is sometimes purposely abandoned by some speakers in the belief that a multitude of glottal stops (filling speech like a street full of potholes) somehow makes individual words more understandable. You are teaching in a very simple way and I applaud you for it. I've spent a number of years analyzing and refining my own speech habits, and came up with my own long list of practical steps to improve speech. I also include voiced consonants -- in particular "m" "n" and "s" (as the "z" sound) as connectors in addition to "r." Surprisingly, many English speakers speak as if they don't know any of this. Generally, I think most people think it doesn't matter and there is no reason for a native speaker to have to work on it.

I see on the UK news that
you have the opportunity, as a UK citizen , to go to the polling station to vote today , Kat ?
I still dont know exactly what parties you can choose from, 2 or maybe more parties ?

I was surprised when the desk came up.
In fact, tea is also important for Japanese people. I drink a cup of green tea every morning and a bottle of barley tea during the day.
I also like coffee, but tea is still better.
