@@nighthero7 They probably had it at a time to make this less likely, and either way he would at most be off by a city or so which can be narrowed down, far better than scouring the entire world, not to mention he immediately knew he was young and had to attend school/work due to the schedule of the killings so it'd be easy to time it to when in his schedule he would presumably be home. I would love if Light turned an entirely new leaf but was still so happy with how that potato chip trick went down that it’s still his main source of self-worth
Honestly, this would've been a foolproof plan for Light to win. Why would a high school kid confess to being Kira all of a sudden? I feel like L would just think Light is delusional in being Kira because Kira's so full of pride that the idea of straight up confessing his actions sounds ludicrous.
Man imagine the twist if the series just ended with this. Light tries something crazy and just Tells L, this happens, then Light just gets his "I win" face on as L leaves Japan and Light goes through a bit of therapy while still being Kira.
In retrospect, although this was an incredible flex on L's part, it was kind of dumb and unnecessary to tell Kira that he now knew he was in the Kanto region of Japan. For all he knew, Kira could have, and would have, immediately packed and moved to who knows where. It was pure luck that Light's living situation meant that wasn't an option.
You’ve narrowed it down to the people living in the Kanto region at that point in time which is pretty finite. If you can get good data on people who transferred addresses out of the Kanto region then you could get a very narrow list of high probability suspects. Still a bit of a goofy move though
Even if he didn't believe light was kira, he still would have had him committed to some form of detention center. When the killings stopped, L would be wary, but would likely accept that something about light being detained prevents more inexplicable deaths, at least until the shinigami tells someone else where the book is to keep the game going.
Meanwhile Light grabs the notebook again and goes back to killing as normal and he has just completely thrown L off his tail for at least a decade

Just as planned☠️☠️
Bruh, why didn't the real Light think of this. It 100% would have worked 😂😂
he's too proud to be willing to appear as a foolish and delusional man XD
Light actually did something similar in the series. He said to L that he believed he is Kira killing people unkowingly in his sleep and asked to be held in prison under surveillance (no surprise it was to let L believe he wasn't Kira)
@@verbugterherrderdunkelheit6086 it went further, he passed the death note to someone else to erase his own memory of anything related to Kira to avoid any behavior or suspicion. Scheeming the situation so him and L could catch the fake Kira and regain his memories as soon as he touch the death note again.
@@saparapatepeteit was the most far fetched convoluted plan that light legitimately just banked on the entire scenario playing out a very specific way that could’ve been altered if any of the mainly involved characters acted slightly differently. He literally confessed 😂 and L said "bullshit, prove your Kira!"

it truly takes a genuine love for the show despite it's many staggering flaws to create a narrative so outlandish yet extremely true to the characters. fuckin brilliant, this. 13/10 will subscribe 🍻
exactly ^^
come to think of it, the fact that kira didn't immediately leave the kanto region after L narrowed it down is an important clue - it means Kira cannot move around freely, so he is likely someone with a family they cannot easily leave.
But couldnt L assume that kira moved away and still kept trying to match the kanto region's timezone to throw everyone off?
"Light Yagami is just a moron with delusions of grandeur..."
That was literally my conlclusion after watching the anime. Parodies tend to make this character more profound, I've noticed.
😂
Light: “I am Kira”
L: “The possibility of you being Kira dropped to 0.1%”
3:07 DID L JUST PRETEND HIS PHONE WAS RINGING BY SAYING THE WORDS "RING, RING"-..??? 💀
ah yes, the one thing to totally throw off a pair of sociopaths: the development of a conscience
Okay but this is actually something that might happen in the show; L would overthink it, Light in season one might actually have given into the guilt, and keeping that potato chip secret is a prideful thing light might actually do.
I would love a spin off series where light wants to turn himself in but literally no one is willing to believe him
It could work if Light just forgets what part of the woods he buried the death note in. I mean, every tree looks like another, right? It would drive Light crazy to lose his super power, and therefore the only way he could flex his massive ego would be to tell everyone he is Kira. Then no one would believe him.

(A couple minutes later.)

My only grievance is I believe L would accept the death note as being real since the method Kira used to kill was always going to turn out being supernatural to some degree and he’d eventually come to terms with that fact.

Forget Japan. Just go to another city that isn't Tokyo and its gg
Most serial killers wouldn't have moved, because they have a sick mind full of compulsive behaviors.
The only real luck is he was in the biggest and first city he checked, but based on probability it was the most likely thing from the start.

The only thing with more convoluted bullshit plot than Death Note is Supernatural
Then you haven't watched Code Geass.
First five seasons though were somewhat planned out in advance (and those elements that weren't still fit in well enough that it doesn't overtly reek of retcons), so those seasons' plot at least is rather straight forward

Honestly, this would've been a foolproof plan for Light to win. Why would a high school kid confess to being Kira all of a sudden? I feel like L would just think Light is delusional in being Kira because Kira's so full of pride that the idea of straight up confessing his actions sounds ludicrous.
So Light's only purpose in life is protecting the brilliance of hiding a tv in a bag of potato chips?
He might be ashamed of his terrible actions, but eating those potato chips was the proudest moment of his life
Ryuk: *Panicked transforming into laughter.*
This is art. If Light actually did confess to L like this, there's no way L would believe him. The truth is just too unfathomable to possibly accept.

*6 months later when the killings have suddenly stopped after Light confessed.*
L: Oh my fucking God all he said was true
What sane person would believe in a notebook that can kill people?
The trick with the potato chip must be locked away.
And light, please look into getting therapy - this vid kills me

Even if he didn't believe light was kira, he still would have had him committed to some form of detention center.
