Alan is underrated. I enjoy his reviews and I often relate to his takes.
Another great episode of Versus, the most interesting discussions came after the hour mark when you weren't talking about the ape film!
Might be a hot take, but I feel like the newer ape films have a bit more thematic nuance. I watched the original film recently and the ideas it was proposing were interesting at first, but very obvious and one note to the point where they lost all novelty for me, largely due to the feature length runtime (I feel like a 30 minute Twilight Zone episode would suffice to get the point across). The new films on the contrary don't hit you across the head with the philosophical undertones as much, but they're definitely there. I ultimately appreciated the more subtle approach to them they took, especially when it allows them to devote more thematic attention to the character development of Ceaser, which was honestly enthralling to me.
Chris Gore looks like Charlton Heston! How appropriate! The original POTA 68' will forever be my favorite, however, these new digital movies are more consistent in quality as a series. That being said, I enjoy both series. Go ape!
Another great episode! And it’s great to have Chris back!!!
Rob and Gore have some really think 'rose colored glasses' about the OG Apes movies.
Could hardly hear Chris over the music at the beginning
Chris is slowly becoming santa
Great to see Chris back and looking well👏
I was avoiding this video at first because I have no feelings for PotA franchise, but I’m glad I did. You guys covered some interesting stuff about the film industry.
Eye of the Beholder was my first Twilight Zone too!
Fighting Frank.
I wasn’t around yet when the planet of the apes films came out, however on the anniversary of the films release, my father came into my room and told me to come out and watch these movies with him. They were hosted by Roddy McDowell himself. It was amazing. I didn’t fully understand the in-depth meaning for being so young, but it’s power was never lost on me.
Chris Gore and Rob Meyer Burnett look alike in heavy beards 😅😅
I would have been perfect on this stream…. In Nottingham, in the UK we had it all, cinemas coming out of our ears… since the late 60’s, I have watched thousands of movies and television productions. Today, I think post 2019, it simply nose dived!
what is the music at the beginning while waiting? Sounds almost like it's from Big Trouble In Little China. Is it?
RIP Roger Corman!
Great to see you Chris, keep fighting the good fight!
I think RMB shaved his beard to halt confusion with him and Chris Gore. :p
Did I miss something? When did Chris Gore and Robert Meijer Burnett trade faces?
It was in FACE/OFF II.
@@steve-zk5zmdammit you stole my joke. :p
Chris Gore is a male model with his beard. J Crew Catolaugoe to start.. haha
great intro/outro music. sounds like john carpenter!
The gore is back, I thought you strayed away from being rated R
better with beard
The original Apes movies were far more superior. If I want to watch an animated film I'll watch the new ones.
I want to reiterate something Chris said to everyone in Hollywood.
Just try to make one good movie. If you actually do make something that’s successful, then and only then, consider making a sequel.
the discussion goes off the rails at 36:55 😑
I have no interest in these modern Planet of the Apes movies.
The problem isn’t that writers have moved to TV, the problem is that white men have been ostracised and there is too much corporate red tape that edits screenplays into oblivion/woke hell.
I agree with Dante. James Franco Apes was the best. 👍👍
Kids these days are being programmed to have ADHD and memory issues by watching tik Tok and UA-camrs shorts all day and having a million things pulling their attention in different directions this stuff is terrible for a developing mind
DANTE YOURE WRONG THE SPECTACLE MENTTALITY ISNT INDICATIVE OFCURENT AUDIENCE TASTE. THATS WHY MODERN MOVIES FLOP
