YOUR STYLE. YOUR GEAR.
G112 standard is probably a great option if you want a specific kind of speaker. As opposed to spending $600 on another cabinet and then another $100-$200 for the speaker, you can just buy the G112, rip that muffled speaker out and put in the one you want for way less overall. I'm considering getting it and putting a Celestion Creamback in it.
I'm curious as to whether you ended up going this route, and if so, how it went. I'm considering getting one to put in an Eminence Swamp Thang, but I also noticed a review on the G112 product page that mentions that the cab is glued together.
If they're simply referring to a durability concern, that's not an issue for me currently, as this will be used mainly for practice and recording. If the back panel is glued on, however, that complicates swapping speakers.
I'm hoping that you might be able to provide some clarity if you ended up going ahead with the G112.
Higher power handling and the darker sound of the G112 hits the spot for me.
I do own the G112 Vintage and use it for running a Joyo Bantamp as well as a Fender Bassbreaker - pretty nice and versatile sound.
Thanks for sharing!
Loud enough to play in rehearsal space with other guitarists?
G112 sounded like it had a BLANKET over it! The G112V was open & bright sounding!
a BLANKET???!
@@Vashaco Yes, you DO know what a blanket is right?
Hmm, gotta say, I think the vintage sounds better. The other one sounded muffled in comparison. Obviously I don't know if there were changes in the tone settings on the amp, or even if the same amp was used for both cabs, but if they are then I definitely prefer the vintage.
The Guitar cab is the most important piece in the signal chain apart from the guitar itself so there is a huge difference between two speakers or just simple mic placement.
Yeah, absolutely my opinion too, though I think played clean, the "normal" G112 sounds a little clearer. One must keep in mind that the cab construction is totaly different too. Would be interesting to put the cheap speaker into the vintage cab and compare again
I have the G212 Vintage since over 10 years which is great, crazy value, cost less than just the speakers that is in the cab if i were to buy them separately. The G112 sounded really muffled, the Vintage sounded great though.
On youtube is review this speaker don't sound exactly the same as previous vintage 30.
V30 all the way!
With almost double the cost, it would really be a shame if you won't be able to tell the difference right?
I wonder how the cheap G112 will sound with a Vintage 30 in it
same
I've heard another comparison, there they sound near the same.
I was interested in the G112 as it has more wattage but compared to the Vintage it sounded muffled and very unimpressive. Vintage it is
Vintage for me.
V30 Sounds way better imo
Great amp
Keep in mind that nowadays v30s aren't the same as old v30s, old ones were made in the uk
Also there’s a video comparing uk v30 and chinese v30
Keep in mind that there is no difference in manufacturing method since they moved. Celestions has slightly changed over time, but that has nothing to do with where they are made. The problem with the UK vs Chinese videos is that they tend to use early 2000’s UK v30s vs New Chinese V30. A fair comparison would be to compare a new Marshall vintage(UK made) to a new chinese.
@@Ari_Calamari new uk made also suck, and there's also differences between older v30s and the ones from until 2003, the ones from the 90s were more like a greenback and the ones from the early 2000s found in overized mesa cabs are that classic metal sound we all love in a mix. Too bad that sound is not made anymore... There are videos of nolly discussing the matter.
@@Ari_Calamari That probably also goes for most speakers manufactured for a very long time, material and methods change, it is also the case for the Celestion Greenback which has also changed in sound through the years.
I assume I can use a Katana 100 head with the Vintage as long as the power is set to 50 then?
Vintage.
Can I just plug my guitar through my blues driver straight into the back of this?
nope.you need an amp
Can it be connected directly to a multi-effects pedal board?
no
Vintage to me. More open
G112 with a mighty 15th, along with an sc dlx gotoh. No need for pedals
I call "Bullshit" !!!! I've been playing since I was 15 years old, and I'm 60 now and can make every amp I've owned sound the same through tone settings regardless of speakers.........I'm not sure when people will learn the overated aspects of a sale.
g112 sounds like it's got a pillow pressed against it. Horrible.
maybe next time please show this with a real genuine guitar ^^ and not one of these super cheap ones
This is HB channel.
