An update happened to contest. Now the "HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS" set which appeared at 3:43, it replaced the Karate Kid set. The vote will be restarted, in 24 hours I think
I guess that's because of all the controversy over Lego breaking its own rules to let two designs from one designer make it to the finalists. I suppose it's only fair and right that TLG have rectified its own contravention/error, but it's also a shame because that Karate Kid set is pretty awesome. Hopefully, it will get another chance. Still, I'm happy for the Honey I Shrunk the Kid set. I was surprised it didn't make the shortlist to begin with, seeing how it cleverly incorporates an iconic scene in the film that features a giant piece of lego.
For me personally, I look for a nostalgic set that I can share with my kids. We can build it together and watch the movie at the same time. Now I realize these sets are geared to adults, but I will vote for one that is moderately “kid friendly” for that reason.
Thank you very much for your review of my E.T. project. I tried to keep it as small as possible without losing detail, I’ve used less than 700 pieces thinking in a broad audience. I’m glad you like it.
Your designs are always amazing. I truly hope I'm able to get the Train Station in June and the House of Chocolate in December. I still really want to see that amazing Art Gallery set, one of my all-time favourite fan designs, go into production somehow.
A lot of nice mocs. The Gremlins one is my favorite but none of them work as movie sets for me. When I think of a Lego movie set I think of the diorama sets Lego has produced.. several of which reside on my shelves.. and these are more like homages to the movies. They are great - and both the Gremlins and Goonies could be sets I'd buy - but they won't have a place on my movie set shelf.
I really hope we'll get the Karate Kid set, it's the only one out of 5 we haven't gotten in some form or another in lego yet. I think for the next round the Goonies is probably my favourite, E.T. and Gremlins are cool, but we already have the most important figures. Beetlejuice is a close one though, especially with the new movie coming out. Although I think Goonies is just a bit more interesting looking.
I feel like Lego wouldn’t make a gremlins set now, but will then make one later near Christmas. Also, I could see Lego making an et diorama by themselves, but beetle juice, karate kid, and goonies feel more like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Also goonies scared me for life I don’t know why.
Great points! Yeah those do feel like a once in a lifetime opportunity. I was surprised to see all of these were allowed. Scared of Goonies for life here, too 🙂
The Goonies I remember seeing on a projector based home screen when I was about 15 years old. No playing to the gallery from me: I thought it was junk. Loved the box art, though. The ideas ship looks amazing IMO.
@@BrickedtoPerfection ha ha ha really appreciate it. This is a very special challenge and I am in the platform eight years. It is one of my favorite one!
Beetlejuice and The Goonies... I think my vote would be between those 2 options! But I'll save my vote for the next round for WILLOW!!! O.O I would also like to see sets from The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, The Secret of NIMH, Big Trouble in Little China... Man it would be epic! :)
I'd love a Neverending Story set too, but, unfortunately, I believe TLG has been refused the rights to that IP. A IDEAS submission during the regular contests had to be withdrawn on that basis. However, I understand that they're now rebooting the franchise, so perhaps TLG might get the rights to the new films/shows approved by the author's estate. Still, it's a shame because the original 1984 movie was one of my first movie-going experiences, and I loved it.
Really hard to tell. I think I'd buy any of them, but The Gremlins and Goonies set particularly excite me, the first because of the winter vibe and because it's a house (so, it'll go within my Lego City which is set in December/pre-Christmas), and the second because of how large and how much detail has gone into it. But I love them all. E.T. is one of my all-time favourite films, I'm a big fan of Brickester's designs, and this set will look good as a backdrop to my city (much like the Gotham City Skyline set that recently came out), and the Beetlejuice house is incredible, and offers so many display possibiities, and I adore the minifigs. Shame about the Karate Kid set being excluded, but The Honey I Shrunk the Kids set is genius.
The goonies DEF holds up. Honestly I’d love ALL of these, but that GOONIES set!!!!! Only reason I don’t think it will or I kinda don’t want it……. Is that price tag being so big and so many minifigs
The Goonies set looks awesome and it has Gurney, I mean Thanos on board! 🙃 I'm afraid it's to big though, it will end up in the Star Wars UCS price range and probably not sell that many...
Watching this made me realize how much anxiety I had as a kid trying to watch these movies😅 Since we only get one vote I’m voting for the gremlins set, that would be a fun addition to the rest of the holiday sets, all of these are good though.
They're all great, but on balance I think I'd be most happy if the Gremlins set made the grade. Still, I'm so spoiled for choice, I might end up not voting. They're all so brilliant that there's no clear winner in my mind.
I know it's been answered already, but to the question, does The Goonies still hold up? Yes, absolutely, yes. The magic is still there, and it packs a nostalgia punch. What a great movie. It is still a perfect film, and any remakes would simply besmirch the original.
It is odd that the moderators broke their own rules. 😐 The rules stated somebody could put on multiple submissions, but the moderators said they would only pick one winner max from each account. 🧐 So, Delusion Brick didn't do anything wrong by putting out more than one entry, but lots of people are giving him a hard time on the latest blog post on the platform. 😕 They are even going so far as to tell him that he should delete one of his entries or his morals are awful! ☹
@@BrickedtoPerfection I know, right?! And yet some people won't give him a break! If you read the blog, you'll see that there are lots of other creators taking his side to the matter, which is very nice, but there are also a lot of haters. One hater has commented this a couple times: "Well, one way to protest is to not vote for either of his entries. But, since Lego is not transparent about the votes, who knows if it would really make a difference." I don't understand how someone could blame Delusion Brick when he didn't have a say in it. 🙁
This is a very fair-minded and thoughtful post. 100% agreed that Delusion is not personally to blame for having the talent to make two outstanding sets, either of which would have been worthy winners. Still, I see from a new comment and checking the Lego IDEAS Challenge page, that one of Delusion Brick's sets, the Karate Kid house, has been replaced with another designer's submission (i.e. the Honey I Shrunk the Kid set).
@@reptibianbricks Now I'm thinking that I should vote for Delusion Brick's Goonies set to make up for the hate unfairly being thrown their way. FWIW, I think all of the final sets would make worthy winners, so it's hard to choose, but this might be a deciding factor for me (i.e. to counteract anyone 'boycotting' his designs because of TLG's mistake).
Honestly, the beetle juice set is kind of bland. Maybe it’s just the renders and the copius use of white, untextured bricks, but the whole thing looks really unattractive and doesn’t do the source material justice. Lego would have to make many changes. I hope gremlins wins because not only is it one of my favorite movies but also because it would be an affordable set compared to the goonies, beetle juice, or karate kid (which is my second choice).
Appreciate the feedback! I usually am more critical on these, as you can see in my other videos. I wanted to get this video out in time for people to vote, since there is a very limited timeframe. Also, the creators only had a month to create and submit these, so it’s a bit more challenging to critique. If I do challenges again, I’ll keep this in mind 🙂
@@Poppenntje I'm sure they'll be plenty of room for that when TLG finally realises images of the final version, but we're a long way from that yet, and let's just hope that the final version isn't tampered with too much from what we see here. That said, as spectacular as all these designs are, I can see where TLG might refine them slightly.
