    Season 2 Vanya is so different from Season 1. This season proves how much important love and compassion is to someone. It literally took loosing her memories and meeting a new family to show that's all she needed.
    In fact, that's what all they needed. The Hargreaves deserved a better childhood than what they got and I'm glad they're starting to live and grow as a family.

    • @RunnyElephant44
      @RunnyElephant44 3 роки тому +4

      No she get the most character death in the series next to clause. And no before you say I don’t support the lgbtq+ I do but there’s a right way to write it where common audiences can enjoy it and it isn’t forced agenda. First vanya ruins this mans marriage. Where he has not beat her or his son in any way or abused her. He hasn’t left because his son has autism. Back then they were put in a ward and didn’t do that until she wanted to leave because vanya ruined their marriage. He also didn’t cheat or lie. He loved her and his son very much and accepted vanya as part of the family to be betrayed by someone he trusted and his wife. The husband is only made to look like the jerk once his wife, kid are taken away by vanya. As someone who has autism and the research I’ve put into knowing more about it. There hasn’t been much support for it till the last 5 to 10 years. So during the time before the Vietnam war you tell me that most parent stayed after that is unlikely or they put the kid in an institute or ward. I can go on but you get the point. I’m not saying there’s nothing wrong with gay characters in fact clause in season 1 has the perfect representation of it. It’s there’s, it’s normal, and not fantasized or in your face it’s treated as normal as being straight or bi or whatever you are. And it was in the background and not the defining trait of the character. We see that clause is a junkie and drinks and gets high to get away of his fear of hearing the dead. He has a mental problem along with drug addiction which he goes through by the end of season 1 which because it’s solved they use the only thing they could use which is his lover from the war and his weird cult. That at least has something that makes him slightly more then just the gay character where Vanya this season is just used to promote lesbian characters in shows and has no defining traits other then complaining, complaining, and nearly killing the world again. In the first season you Saw (not hear) how she felt like an outcast in her family, how her father treated her differently then the others, and how she used her passion for music as an escape from her childhood drama growing up feeling alone, to meet a person she thought understood her to take advantage of her trust because she’s never been understood and that’s why even when her sister comes and tells her that the person she loved lied to her she is in denial because she’s fearful of going back to being alone again and might make her shut the world out even more. And that’s in only a couple episodes in the first season what does she do in the second season, ruin a marriage, nearly kill a kid, give him powers which might or might not have changed the future and makes not sense because then can she give others powers or can the others do it how does it work. And it better not be because he’s autistic he’s special because I hate that media over glorify it to make it unbelievable. When in truth it creates bad experiences, hardships, family issues, hard time making friends, bulling, and many other things. This season has some good parts but it is not from vanya or clause. All the other characters even new characters get development but the only thing that clause and vanya get in character development is that they are gay and we know that but that’s a part of their character but not it as a whole. I’m a male but that’s not all I am I’m autistic but that’s not all I am. When you talk about a character like iron man, scarlet witch, black panther, or luke skywalker you talk about their strengths, weaknesses, fears, their path, their hardships, their victories, their losses, and how all of it defines them. You don’t define characters as a gender, race, culture, you define them as their actions for what they do then who they are. The reason why people love spiderman is because he’s relatable not in the way that we all have super powers but that we all have problems with money, love, family, loss, and many others. The things he does even though he loses makes him a great character. Vanya and Clause in the first season has things that define who they were which were gone in the second season. So please Lauren and the other 159+ people who liked this explain to me how she has any character development and not character death? Thank you and I can’t wait to see the amazing “critical and conductive criticism” at my response to this.

      @@RunnyElephant44 lmao dude. Sounds like you've got something personal against the whole story arc, if I must say. Character growth is not synonymous with moral compass improvement. When I said character growth I wasn't even referring to the fact that they revealed her to be LGBTIQ+, but rather that in season 2, her character faces redemption for what she did at the end of season 1 by rebuilding stronger friendships with her siblings. She also finally learns how to control her powers, which is something she was unable to do in the previous season. On the plus side, she also manages to land herself a healthy relationship this time. Granted, it's an affair, but at least it isn't with another homicidal maniac. Hence growth. Also as I recall there is no such figurative term called 'character death.' I should know, I was a literary major. I can go off about how the husband wasn't a good guy and that the marriage wasnt' healthy but I feel like you won't change your mind anyways, so, yeah. Take it or leave it, here's my response.

    • @RunnyElephant44
      @RunnyElephant44 3 роки тому +1

      @@Lauren-dk3qv Thank you for the response, even though I do not agree it's a heathy relationship, I can agree anything is better then the homicidal maniac. I couldn't come up with something that is the complete opposite of character growth so I used character death. I wanted to put in my input on it not knowing what you meant originally. I respect your opinion and conductive criticism towards my comment and thank you for taking the time to read it where most people on UA-cam won't. I can see what you mean on some points and have to agree that her character faces redemption for what she did at the end of season 1 by rebuilding stronger friendships with her siblings. While also finally learning how to control her powers, which is something she was unable to do in the previous season. It's nice to see other's opinions on it and to be honest I thought I would get backlash for saying what I said because it's 2020 but was genuinely surprised you took the time to explain an opposing argument. Thank you for the response and I hope you have a good 2020.

      @@RunnyElephant44 Honestly, I can't help but agree with the fact that the show unnecessarily painted Sissy's husband in such an antagonizing light. I was very shocked and disgusted when I saw the show promoting the idea of sissy cheating on her husband as if just because the dude has some misogynistic and homophobic ideals and drinks sometimes after a bad day and is at work a lot that it justifies cheating on him and running away without even saying a word...especially when Vanya became so upset at Sissy for not immediately leaving her entire home and era and husband on the fly for some random girl who doesn't even know who she is and is being chased by the government, for all Sissy knows (the cornfield shootings). I felt extremely bad when the husband came home all giddy, talking about how he worked so hard to save up for them to go on some trip together, and tried to touch her, not even like without consent, you know, just normal romantic advances, and immediately stopped when Sissy refused and understandably got mad because he didn't understand why his wife all of a sudden was so cold to him. And yet the show made it seem like the husband was in the wrong.
      The way the show was going, I was full on expecting the husband to beat her (especially when she first told Vanya about the money jar) or the kid, and when he confronted Vanya about CHEATING, that he was going to harm her. But no, he just told her to leave.
      Honestly, I think Vanya was a bit selfish, and it was so messed up for the show to imply that her "gift" to Sissy, Harlan's powers and thus the ACTUAL DEATH of her husband, was the greatest gift ever...

He lied in order to get away from them, get drunk at strip clubs, and complain about his life; forced his wife to sleep with him when she didn't want to, which is rape; talked about his wife as if she were his property, telling her lover not to "spread a disease" by being in a homosexual relationship under his roof; called the police on his wife when she left him, as if she was doing something illegal by declaring she no longer loved him, rather than respect the fact that she wasn't happy; tried to get his child locked up like an animal in an asylum, where he only would've been harmed in that era; and got reckless with a gun in the presence of his child and grabbed it in a way that allowed it to go off and very nearly kill his child. I hate everyone this season except Five, why? They all seemed very selfish to me not wanting to help Five from the beginning justifying that they already had a life. To begin with, they do not even belong to the 60s and Vanya even with the loss of memory at least had to support seeing all her brothers recognizing her and trying to make her remember. The scene in the alley gave me courage that none of them came, at least with Vanya who wanted to escape with Sissy since the others had fights.
    So yeah, the Hargreeves family is a mess.

    • @noir4461
      @noir4461 3 роки тому +16

      I think it had a lot to do about the fact that they all stayed on that timeline not for 2 days, not for a month but most of them for years or at least a whole year thinking that the rest of their siblings had died. Five just stayed there for 1 week, he was the same from 1st season but the rest of them changed and adapted to that reality and it was hard to give it up quickly. They all are different individuals and had different dilemmas to resolve before going back to their timeline and that's why I personally loved it 💃

    Vanya's arc in season 2 is rather dull. In season 1, she had the most interesting arc of all of her siblings (even though Five's came really close). It just feels forced and out of character. I cringed everytime the episodes showed her arc.
