Funny you brought up blending the Milky Way with a foreground. That is how I shoot the night sky. I also use a star tracker and the foreground blurs out anyways. I like to print big and that is the only way to get a clean, detailed foreground for large prints. But I also think that your art is just that. Do what you want as long as you like doing it. Who cares what others think. Good job on the podcasts. Gives me something to listen to while spending a month editing a black white cityscape of Seattle.

Thank you for tuning in, Randy! There is a blending technique that we teach where you can get sharp foreground images taken during the nighttime that are noise free. It’s pretty awesome to see the end results.

Thanks for the wonderful conversation, Matt. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to consider your thoughtful questions and add "another thing really quickly..." 😂 And what's interesting is that in watching this, I feel like my past self was telling my future self what I needed to hear! Bonus! Thanks for all you do to encourage meaningful conversation about photography and lift us all up 🙌

Ooof this was such a fun conversation. I was listening between meetings and couldn’t wait for the meetings to end to restart the episode. Loved the concept of “be average” and embrace it, it almost made me feel proud of the photography journey I’m on because being average and continuously pushing to learn new things is actually growth vs my earlier mindset that creeps in from time to time of “this image isn’t perfect so not a good photographer, maybe I’m not cut out for landscape photography because of all my fears”. Ps love that you include photos as a part of the UA-cam version of the podcast, I love to be able to see the photographers work during the conversation. (Sorry for the insanely long comment 🤣)

Drishti, I'm so excited that "be average" was a major take-away for you! Thank you for sharing that :-). I'm going to post a solo Pixels episode on my channel later this week, and one of my main points is about being average... and I JUST REALIZED that I've been dragging my feet in posting it because it's not perfect. How's that for irony!? Anyway, love your awareness of the value of where you're at on your journey and pushing through to new places. Here's to you and your continued growth! 🙌📷

Awesome! Yeah, I think I’ve been there before… it’s hard to be ok with imperfections but let’s face it, in an artform such as photography, one person’s perfect is another person’s average and vice versa!
