Chalkboard would give you the option of having both, “to do list” and florals with colored chalk.
Suggestion....top half of each box, one top with chalk and line one top with cork board (bulletin board type). Paint the bottom halves of each with your floral designs. You will likely "use" the top halves more for utility purposes, but this way you can add your flare as well.

1000% chalkboard. You can change it, and draw florals when you want them, but I think it would be awesome to have the flexibility for UA-cam videos.
As soon as you showed those blank panels I thought “oh she needs to decorate those”!! LOL. How about doing the florals mural in chalk and change them up for each season? Whatever you decide to do though it will be beautiful!!

Well i myself am a practical type of person so i would do Chalk Board at both sides.
But why not do both; like one side be ChackBoard and the Other be Floral Design with your name. You also can tape Cardboard on one side to draw your Floral Design and whenever you got tired of the design just change the CardBoard. 😉👌😇💐
I'm not so enthousiastic about the chalkboard. What you'll write there, you can put in your bujo too. I once chose a chalkboard instead of a 'dry marker'/ magnetic board. The chalk was very dusty (always dust on the ground) and it just wasn't what I needed. I ended up taping papers and drawings on the chalkboard...
So I would paint florals, and add some calligraphy. It'll be beautiful!!
Ok. Firstly, I am insanely jealous lol. Now that's out the way, I would go option c, which is 1 panel chalk board, 1 panel floral. Win win.

I personally love the chalkboard idea. My husband and daughter are artist and we painted one wall in our living room with chalkboard paint. It has been wonderful for our family. I am sure a floral mural would be amazing as well. Have a blessed day.
Hi Becca - Definitely your Chalkboard for a good portion of those panels... but nothing is stopping you from adding florals or other personal touches that makes it all you along the bottom or a portion. What a fun storage box!

I like the floral idea because that would make for a pretty background, but a mix of both would be practical too.
Yay! Welcome to the club. It’s amazing isn’t it? I was so elated when mine was delivered... I think I was just as excited as my wedding day or close to that. It took us 8 hrs to build ours but we were tired from painting the room in preparation. The box the day before. I had to pay for mine but it was worth every penny and the company is great to work with if you have questions or issues. Mine was just fine without any damage.
Ok so here's an idea...chalkboard paint that is surrounded by florals.....ie partially painted in the center in each side with chalk board paint. And then surround with your beautiful and colorful florals

I kid you not, when you said “these panels are what I need your opinion on” I thought “chalk board ... or something true to Becca’s brand... like her awesome floral illustrations! Black and white, how pretty would that be?!” And then those are the two options you gave! 😂 My vote is for florals!

Yay. Thanks for the review/set up video. PoorRyan did a great job! (And of course so did you!) my vote for the panels is to paint them with chalkboard paint. That way your background will change depending on what you have lettered or drawn. That would be awesome! Do it. Do it. Do it!! (P.S.: my vote counts for 1,000 votes BTW!)
I like the idea of option 1, as not only can you use it for practical reasons, e.g. to do lists but you can also decorate it, which means it can be changed depending on your design style of the moment.
Option 1 would be fine as if the box is like it is behind you we will not see it much and maybe you as well. Paint, draw, write what you feel like you want but don't stress over it as you probably will not see it much if you leave it open like it is behind you. Nice box and congrats on the upgrade and artistic storage and access. Thanks for sharing Becca!

I saw this Dreambox about 6 weeks ago in an ad. And when I recently found your channel and saw how many supplies you had I thought the Dreambox would be perfect for you! And today I see your video! It looks amazing. I’m so jealous! I love organizing and this truly is a dream. Unless you already have a large board that would, say, track ongoing projects, my vote is to decorate the perimeter of the panels and leave some room so that you could write on them. That being said, I’m not sure there’s enough room to do that? It’ll be great whatever you decide!
Hi Becca. You are a creative soul, so at least with chalkboard you can alter your designs at will. It's all about dreaming and trying new things. Also, when you are using the room for your kids, the chalkboard can be the connection the little ones have to "working" with their Mom.

It allows for so much versatility. I did this is my work office (trucking industry) it allowed me to write quick to do's and upbeat messages to my drivers

I agree with the chalkboard since it gives you the option to decorate, teach, etc. I checked and Benjamin Moore has many shades of white chalkboard paint just in case you want to keep the white look. I am drooling with the possibilities.

I like the idea of chalk paint so you do designs and calligraphy for the sessions or inspiration quotes etc.

chalk paint....but rather than basic black take it up a notch and use colour chalkboard paint to create contrast.
I'm not sure of the functionality of this other option (how it works or application) what about magnetic paint? even just as a border or divider for the panels.....it might not be practical but could open options for display.

Chalk on the inside is an awesome idea. Floral illustrations would be great on the outside. I realize the florals wouldn’t be visible MOST of the time, but if you are having crafty company, maybe you could have it closed when they arrive and open it up after they have had time to soak in the beauty of the mural. I just read Kathy Lemke’s answer about the inside being chalk on one side top, cork board on second side top and painted on the bottoms. Even better!
I love the idea of florals and after reading others comments I like the idea of chalk paint with floral decorations when not needed for teaching and demos.
Chalk paint and then you could doodle floral illustrations on it until you decide to switch it up! Love the box and the organization.
I agree with a lot of the other people in the comments: go for the chalkboard and when you're not using it for a specific project, draw florals on it :) win-win!
I would do both! Maybe a nice Floral Desing surrounding a chalk board? ... Two chalk boards floor to ceiling is too much space

I go with floral illustrations bcoz the whole cabinet is white,so the floral illustrations give a nice look for the cabinet and your room.

Loved seeing this! I always wanted to get one. Maybe you could do both? Chalkboard on one panel and then a floral design on the other? That way you could have the best of both. If not, maybe only chalkboard. You could always draw your own floral chalk deco when you need a change. Thank you for sharing! Can’t wait till see more videos about this!

Thank you so much! This video is (and, I'm sure, the sequels will be) SO helpful. I've been lusting for a Dreambox for a couple of years, but I also suffer from terrible craft supply organizing paralysis (CSOP) and was afraid I'd never be able to set it up, wanting to have it perfect. I try to tell myself that I can always tweak it later, but I also fear to waste time. Knowing that the manufacturers include a plan that I can follow has significantly lowered bar that was preventing me from getting one. My husband was watching occasionally and even said, "you need one of those".
Since I mainly paper-craft, and don't shoot videos, I would cover the blank panels with magnetic sheets to hold my wafer dies. You could paint the perfectly blank panel with chalkboard paint and paint florals on the outside panels to show when it's fully closed.
I think you should do one of each so you can teach how to do chalkboard art and you have the beautiful florals to look at too! Or you can do both chalkboard and do your florals in chalk and change them out seasonally or when you are giving a class on florals. Now that I think about it, the chalkboard will give you the best of both worlds. Congratulations on this wonderful DreamBox and new house!
Chalk paint came to my mind the moment I saw those panels even before you suggested it. So yes, CHALK PAINT, go for it!
My suggestion would be to do floral on the top and bottom of each panel with chalk board in the middle. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. I’m sure it will look awesome. 😉
Definitely do blackboard paint, it’s more versatile. That way you can draw florals or whatever you’d like & if you change your mind, just erase it & draw something else & you can teach the rest of us all about that! I’m so excited for you!!! Love this - I have been thinking about getting one - price is a little high for me...but I love that you reviewed it. I would do the chalk paint....
I have thought about one of these myself. My art room is also our guest bedroom, so this would be perfect! I think florals would be great for now and then when the kids come along chalk paint...they love to draw and write on the chalk board!

I'm still chuckling at the one who said "keep the art studio & don't have the kids! :} They do change your life! but I can definitely see your little munchkins one day becoming budding artists like mommy at the bottom with their chalks having a blast! or as some mentioned a magnetic portion, which would also be great for letter magnets, etc. Happy Crafting...U are Awesome!!!
OH !!! Becca I've been looking at the Dreambox for over a year now. I was so excited when I saw that you got a Dreambox. I would love to have one but they are so expensive. I've also seen a knock off of the Dreambox on UA-cam. I don't know how sturdy it is. I do so many crafts including your calligraphy that my office/craft room is overflowing. I have been thinking of trying to make one myself by buying individual units and putting them together. As to your question about your two panels, I think that because you teach so many things to us, I think you should make them a chalkboard so you can demo your techniques. You could also do one side as a chalkboard and the other side with beautiful flowers and some of your fancy writing. You do need some flowers on there somewhere. If I had one I would make mine painted with flowers as I also do acrylics and oils and one stroke painting. I love your videos. Thank you for all you do for us.
To do list! You can change it up easily AND it looks pretty with your lettering
I read some of the other comments and I totally support the "why not both?" team. The lower half will be absolutely inconvenient to draw/write on unless you really enjoy squatting on the floor. So I'd say upper half chalk board, lower half decoration, maybe expanding into a frame for the chalk board panel at the top.

Becca, whoever created this HAS to be a crafter!! I'm curious about how the doors latch shut. I'm thinking if the doors are heavy and there's no way to latch them, that they will tend to slip open...also, if your floor isn't level. ???

I like the idea of the chalkboard. You can do florals on one side on the chalkboard and use the other side as a teaching tool. So jealous.

You could paint floral murals on both side, one in normal paint, one in chalk paint, so they match, and you still have the option of using one as a “camouflaged” chalk board! I’ve also seen some ppl put magnetic strips so they can keep their die cut moulds/ use as a magnetic board.

It is difficult to imagine how you would use the entire surface for the chalkboard purposes that you listed. Especially that very top and the very bottom would be difficult to write on and reference. For this reason, I think that you might enjoy decorating the majority of the area- - especially the top and bottom-- and then painting the center of each side with the chalkboard paint.

Omg, the Dreambox is so pretty! I would definitely say to go with the chalk paint idea...then you have the freedom to change it up and use the panels for whatever you want :)
My deaf/blind husband helped me put mine together. I love it. As those side panels, maybe do a combination of chalkboard and decorative borders.
I bought the magnetic sheets and have metal die cuts on them.
Definitely do the chalkboard paint on those panels! (With maybe a floral border?) You can sketch out your project ideas, show how a project came together, write inspirational quotes, or just doodle ideas or lists (that you could even take a snapshot of for shopping, blogging, etc). Love the DreamBox. It’s definitely on my bucket list! Lol

Becca you can do it all. Chalkboard on one side, a pretty monogram with flourish and floral on the other. Like the alphabet that corralled our elementary classrooms!
I personally think that the chalk board option will be good as u can change them up quite easily and it will be difficult to remove the florals from the panels..but whatever you do i am sure it will look great...and BTW i loveee your dreambox..it truly is a dream in a box ❤️❤️

As for the side panels: Chalk paint would be my suggestion. You could add floral illustrations around as a border to make it look like a picture frame.
Left side for personal: calendar, magnetic board, things to do list, etc. Right side for Business: to list your video suggestions, upcoming tutorials, etc.
yes, as said below, chalk board and then you can draw florals, and change them and use it for anything to demonstrate your ideas. Also Becca, you have legs!!!! always seen you sitting down, great video by the way! Love the DreamBox, if only I had the room for one.

If you paint it with chalkboard, you can draw floral to match the season or any other theme. Also much more versatile
You could paint the outside of it in florals, and chalkboard or dry eraser would be my preference for the inside panels. I have always wanted one of these!!!

Regarding panels customisation, as you said you will be keeping it in more of open position, then it might be better to have floral pattern...
Might not be great for TO DO LiST, as you got to close it partially at least to check it out, which may not be practical.

This is my dream box too 😜 and when we talk about panels you can decorate it in your own way like doing some calligraphy work and other art work, but option 1 (chalk paint)will be a better option
My vote is for the chalkboards. You can then draw your florals on them, but also use for whatever else you need/want. Flexability!
This dream box is amazing! I would go with the chalk board. That way you can paint florals on them if you want (or have permanent florals around the borders or at the top/bottom) and have space for other doodles/lists/decorations as well.
I vote for the chalkboard. You'll be able to change it up from time to time. I like the idea of not having the same illustration forever. I don't know about you, but I enjoy a fresh look from time to time.
I like both ideas. I think I would do both. Florals on one panel and chalk paint on the other.
