    This type of therapy FAR exceeds what one would get out of either Cognitive Behavioral or even Applied Behavior Analysis. I can say that with some authority because I used to be Clinical Director at a Drug Rehab in Miami that used a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Bioenergetics. The Bio group as it was called was by far the client's favorite, and yielded results that can only be described as transformational. We are fortunate that there are young mental health professionals like Leah, and a few others like Eliot Hulse that are carrying the torch...

      Thank you, John. Always appreciate getting perspective from folks who've had experience with various modalities and have seen the impact that Bioenergetics has in contrast to others.

    Thank you so so so much for sharing this practice. That was an EPIC class. I’ve never quite seen so many healing modalities combined together in one power packed session. I found it very effective! My perspective comes from a decade plus of yoga, breath work and meditation and a few years of inner work and I found this to be incredible.

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love this stuff... Bioenergetic exercise is indeed powerful. And since it's all about getting to a place of maximal nervous system and emotion regulation,, anything that builds awareness and gives practice at grounding breathing and expressing can be used in a class, so it's incredibly flexible in what techniques can be incorporated into any class.

    Hey, this is so much helpful, i feel a new level of energy flow in my body just by doing it twice on different days, i have a question, are these all the techniques developed by Lowen or is there more to it, and what's your view on Reichian character types are these exercises fir for all, or do i need to do some special techniques, i want to do these exercises as perfectly as i could for better results, like some bioenergetics youtubers sell there courses but i feel these excercises are available on UA-cam freely specially this one should i need to purchase those courses, is this enough or there is more to it. Sorry for these questions, but i really want to do this.

      Thanks for your questions. First, there is no way to learn "all of the techniques" of bioenergetic exercise. That's because there are no "techniques" to be "learned." That idea comes from people who misunderstand what bioenergetic exercise is all about. It's not about learning to do bioenergetic exercises perfectly, it's not about demonstrating that you can do them perfectly, it's not about overcoming your character type by practicing certain bioeenergetic exercises. People who try to teach you that have no idea what they are talking about.
      Bioenergetic exerise is about building self awareness and building the ability to express yourself and move your body in ways that you have not previously been able. This translates into you being comfortable with feeling and expressing your powerful energy when you need to, and into being able to soften and release the tension that life piles on you when you need to. There are no special techniques you need to learn. You don't need to do the exercise "perfectly." You will not get any better results from some program someone wants to sell you online. You can do what I teach you to do in this class, and if you want another resource, you could try to find Lowen's book The Way to Vibrant Health, which is a manual of 100 exercises that Lowen and his wife wrote in the 70s.
      No need to get caught up in character types. Understanding them will not facilitate any of the good things that practicing bioenergetic exercise does for you. They are simply a cognitive rabbit hole that will start making you believe they are some kind of zodiac sign, the way many of the so-called bioenergetic exercise coaches on youtube do. That's all nonsense.
      Just practice the movments with an intention to see what feelings come up, what changes occur in your body and how easy or difficult any of the movments are for you. Always lean in to noticing how you feel. That is THE most imporant thing. It's not performance. It's mindfulness training. Don't let anybody tell you it's anything else. Because it isn't. Good luck.

    OMG - this is incredible. After 1h of this I feel like I'm high or something! More energy, more fun, relaxed and within my body! Thank you! How often one can do that? Once a week? Twice a month?

    • @LeahBensonTherapyTampa
      @LeahBensonTherapyTampa  3 роки тому +2

      Feel free to do it as much as you desire. Follow your impulse. You can't overdo it!

    I had an spontaneous kundalini awakening, and all of these exercises "happen" to me almost every week. The jerking, and twitching, the positions, the rage, the anger... the trembling! it seems like this is the natural way the body releases tensions from viscera and muscles, but sometimes it is scary the amount of energy that can come out

    • @LeahBensonTherapyTampa
      @LeahBensonTherapyTampa  2 роки тому +1

      I agree with you. Bioenergetic exercise totally mimics and primes the natural tension releasing state of kundalini. Being able to ground that type of intense energy release is the other aspect of bioenergetic exercise which is why there so much grounding in the beginning of this class.

    Are there exercises for unblocking the Heart?
    Thanks for this Video. Really helpful!!!

    • @LeahBensonTherapyTampa
      @LeahBensonTherapyTampa  3 роки тому +3

      I'm glad it was helpful! As for your question: yes, there are exercises for unblocking the heart. We don't particularly speak of "opening the heart" in bioenergetics, but during any chest opening movements such as breathing over a pillow or a ball or standing in the bow pose, a heart opening will be happening as a natural part of the process. .

    Is it normal to retch and almost throw up after some bioenergetic exercises?

    • @LeahBensonTherapyTampa
      @LeahBensonTherapyTampa  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, that is 100% normal.. And can be the best way to eliminate certain chronic muscular contractions

      @@LeahBensonTherapyTampa thanks! Is it best to do this first thing in the morning? I usually find I only have the opportunity late in the evening. I feel good afterwards but i don’t know if the benefits last into the morning

    • @LeahBensonTherapyTampa
      @LeahBensonTherapyTampa  2 роки тому

      @@wendyslittleprogram3984 You can really do it any time you have the time. The benefits can last into the morning, but it all depends on everything that's going on in your body and psyche over night. Even if it doesn't last into the next day, it will definitely help you sleep well, which will help your next day. :)
