This no longer works and has been disabled via Android Update. Google does not want you doing this. This is called FRP lock or FACTORY RESET PROTECTION, and you must take it to a retailer to do this. Most people bypass via Direct connection and a APK which is more advanced, but yes, this is no longer working for those wondering at least on a consumer level. You can do it with a developer connection and android device bridge if you are a developer or are techncially proficient.
Just connect your tablet with your laptop by usb cable and do the hard reset by push the power button and volume down button together. when the screen is blank move your finger to the volume up button while another finger still on the power button. Release your fingers when the screen shows samsung logo. it worked for me

Hi, I have got a galaxy S6 and I have just recently got the password lock screen come up which I don't understand because I don't have ANY password or lock protection on it 🤔 I have tried numerous times to hard reset it but each time I get the first screen to go black with the volume down and power buttons and I then hold the volume up and the power button until the Samsung logo comes up and that is as far as I can get because no matter what I try I am unable to get the blue screen to come up and it just keeps going back onto my screensaver screen and it's still locked, I am pulling my hair out here and wondered if you or anyone else might have any ideas what is wrong, thanks 😢 x

Everywhere says to let go once you see the Samsung logo. This video helped me see you need to keep volume up and side button held.

it doesn't work. After the image in 1:04, the Samsung start screen appears. The program then starts normally.

On my TAB S6 it was necessary to connect it to a PC via USB. (Data- not only chraging-connection!)

Sounds like you had a Google account protection lock thing that triggered it
It won't let me power down without putting in a code.
It seems that My Tab doesn't enter recovery mode, because it has just 48% battery.
