- Cacio e pepe a simple pasta dish of cheese and black pepper was the star of Anthony Bourdain's Rome episode of No Reservations, and I'm fixing up a bowl in tribute. The dish is simple, satisfying, and elegant with a touch of spice -- traits we could all aspire to be. ✨ Thank you, Mr. Bourdain. New videos every Thursday & Saturday!

I think Anthony Bourdain touched many many people. I know that when I watched his show or his interviews there was always a sadness in his eyes that made him seem sad and humble...I don’t really know how to explain it. He will always be missed
It's called drunk.
You think he was humble ??? Hardly
"...always a sadness in his eyes that made him seem sad and humble"
Lol, ever work in a kitchen?
Maybe melancholy or depression.
@@BLUDDYknucklez STFU shit stain! 💩
I just wanted to say thank you for always speaking so clearly, I am hearing impaired, and unlike many youtubers, the autogenerated captions know exactly what you are saying! I can actually enjoy your videos because of that, thanks for that Emmy!
well...except for the "itadakimatsu" but honestly, the CC captions for that are often quite hilarious and more amusing than having it captioned correctily (in my opinion)
That's a great compliment! I'm glad you can enjoy it too!
I'm in the UK so of course speak English, but I have real problems understanding people speak, particularly crime type shows. People sound like they don't speak English. Don't get me started on their grammar! I'm grateful my ex in laws were from the Pacific north West so didn't speak like that. I believe it's called the first 48, I could honestly use subtitles myself. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you x
Isn't her speaking so nice? She's so clear when she speaks and it makes me feel calm. I think she would be an amazing speech teacher or therapist for people because her speech is so endearing.
She speaks well, has a huge lexicon of words, and is from new england! Her voice could be a SIRI or Alexa voice.
I had the pleasure of meeting him twice. First time I heard his unmistakable loud laughter and entered the restaurant because I was 💯 it was Tony, the next time we met he remembered not just my name, but silly details like where I'm from ( he did a No Reservations there that didn't go so well) and we had a chuckle about it. He was amazing and he is truly missed by us all. Thanks Emmy!
lol....would you happen to be from Beirut, Lebanon? That episode definitely didn't go well (though thankfully the second episode he did there was amazing).
I got to meet him too when he was in oxford MS. Truly a great guy.
😍 thaaaaaaaats sooooooooo cooooool!!!!
Jealous
You are so lucky to have met him. I loved his show.
What a wonderful idea to make dishes in tribute! I would love to see you make something from Julia Child's book, Mastering The Art Of French Cooking
Gods, yes!
Bouef bourginon perhaps? (I probably butchered the spelling lol)
Boeuf bourguignon * En effet ;) But it's not that bad actually !
Julia's Gratin Dauphinois (Scalloped Potatoes au Gratin) is too die for.
Its good to give tribute to the actors and people from shows who touch you. Your intro was so well worded. You didnt know him but he touched your life. Lovely. Emmy you are millions of peoples mom, aunt, safespace, you name it !
First time in my entire life I've ever teared up watching someone eat. When you said, "This one's for you, Bourdain" I lost it. Such a beautiful man and I absolutely adore your videos. Brava. 💘
My favorite dish in the entire world! I watched the episode where Anthony went to the restaurant in Rome and ordered it and so when we went to Rome a year later I had it for the first time base on his recommendation....as I did the second, third, and fourth time.
I see you lovely lady
*stalker*
Nikki K LOL. Okay, you just freaked me out for a minute!
I guess I should stay on top of my stalkering, you relaxed and didn't expect me to appear out of nowhere.
Love you!
Her intelligence, optimism, kookie sense of humor, and reliability are so refreshing on this platform. Not that all other youtubers are stupid, I just mean that Emmy is so honest and down to earth while still being engaging and entertaining. I've been watching this channel for a couple years, now, and I can easily say that I doubt i'll be losing interest any time soon. I love this channel so much!
Bourdain was a hell of a guy. Cacio e pepe is fantastic! Great eats when you're too tired to cook much, or too hungry to wait but want something besides takeout or frozen food.
I don't know why everyone gets the mother Teresa treatment after they die lately. Bourdain was not a good person.
@@ieatrox what did he do? also, according to some Mother Teresa was not a good person as well
Define "good person." As was stated above, Mother Theresa wasn't a complete angel according to some people.
@@ieatrox Who says he wasn't a "good person"?
Are YOU a "good person "?
Bourdain was genuinely loved in spite of any flaws he may have had.
He was a genuine, down to earth human being.
Let me guess, you're a tRump supporting christian.....?
Edie Bell not to mention he didn’t try to hide those flaws or act like they didn’t exist. He was straight forward and up front and raw with his audience. His deep flaws and imperfections are what made him relatable and made us love him.
Just stumbled upon your channel while trying to find his Rome episode on UA-cam. Thank you for this beautiful tribute to him and the food. He deeply affected me not only as an artist, but as a man, and as a fellow human. Your attention to detail, and respect for the dish is well appreciated on my part, keep up the great work.
It happened the same to me when Anthony passed. Never met the guy but I cried when my mom called me to give me the news. He was such a big part of my life growing up and opened my eyes to mental health. I miss him so much.
Juliana Wees I also cried....i couldn’t help to think about his daughter....I lost my dad so I know how hard it is.
I loved Anthony. I don't believe he killed himself. Nothing in his personality seemed like a quitter.
I am a cook, and when I woke up the first thing I read was about his death. I was in a very dark place at the moment and still struggling with depression. That day I cried until I fell back asleep at night. Chef Bourdain you will be always missed. Thanks Emmy
I understand your Anthony Bourdain tribute. I wonder if he had any idea of how many people he touched. And how many would mourn his passing. Thank you for this nod to a man that took our taste buds around the world.
What a lovely tribute. I almost cried lol. You seem like such a genuinely kind human being. That's why I love your channel. Genuine, kind, respectful, and funny. Not to mention that looks absolutely amazing.
Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
What a lovely tribute. I think Mr. Bourdain would be proud.
MoxieMae he would glow with pride over this. Life goes on.
You're so pretty Emmy, and such a cool person, I'm glad you share your beautiful personality with the world! Your family is really lucky!
Lady Gaga's ARTPOP Shiny Blue Ball i second that!
I third that. I think we all think the same. 😊
I'm a little sad. My dad and I used to love no reservations. Anthony Bourdain was fun and interesting. Sad to hear he passed. When was this? How late am I to the party?
@@nekowerewolf few years..
@@coastTV ah. Well that shows how invested I am in the lives of tv personalities. Still, best wishes to his loved ones.
He showed so many people how beautiful the rest of the world is and how to discover it. Through the art of food.
Anthony Bourdain will never be forgotten, 💕. We loved him! 😢
I've been looking for this video again with a newfound if bittersweet love for Bourdain's work. I grew up with my dad watching the show every single night during its Travel Channel heyday. But I was not a discerning child, couldn't understand Anthony's quips and was generally bored by it. I didn't get to appreciate the world's food, and cooking for myself until well into my 20s. When Anthony died I did feel a bit sad, and upon watching this tribute too when it was posted. But both times, I wasn't yet in the space to understand how he was so revered by his fans.
Shy from 30, I finally got into the shows. I found A Cook's Tour by chance on UA-cam, and once I finally sat down to watch it with a much older mind, there was no turning back. I am now barreling my way through the catalog on Discovery+, finally understanding what this has been all about. His life story has made me feel a mix of emotions, but his way of storytelling viewers to places all around the world has brought me so much comfort in recent months.
I kick my tweenage self for not knowing any better, and not obtaining the curiosity for the world that I absolutely cling to now. I cannot believe it's coming on 6 years since this video and his passing. He left a great mark on those of us who discovered the love and passion of food, and I hope that was realized somewhere.
I feel like vloggers do similar in inviting us in to their lives. I really dislike the hate that is often given. You guys don't have to be here, you don't have to invite us in, you don't have to share. As someone that is basically home bound, living through my favorite channels is the only outsider interaction I get. Thank you for sharing, and letting us in.
Cheese... More cheese.. Yum!
I was a huge fan and that was very sweet. I saw that episode and he will be missed by millions. That was a very nice tribute thank you for sharing.
I completely agree with what you said about his passing having such an impact. I've been a big fan of his for years, I grew up watching his shows and they helped me realize that I want to travel like that and try new foods and experiences. It was particularly hard for me as an anthropology professor of mine who I really admired who used one of his books (Kitchen Confidential) in her class had passed not long before him. The Rome episode is also one of my favorites and I think about the Cacio e Pepe scene a lot as there is something really impactful about it. Thank you for doing this series, can't wait to see what else you do with it
Yes!!!! Love you Emmy! So graceful and wonderful way to pay tribute to Anthony Bourdain!!!
Thank you.🙏
Antony Bourdain was genius, and his writings are ICONIC - RIP a master of culinary art and knowledge!
Tonys death hurt. I tried to do what he did. Sorry to be dark. Kitchen Confidentiel is so great on Audible. His voice was amazing
I'm glad you're still here.
It’s uh, it’s hard. But at the end of the day I’m glad I chose to stay.
I’m happy you did too.
@@emmymade thank you 😊
@@PetiteRosalie it's no fun. We're still hanging on.
Please never quit fighting. There IS a way out. It has taken me a long time (20 years) but I’m finally on the right medication thanks to a really effective psychiatry office. From one who has been there, exactly there, many times, please keep trying. Love to you.
As an Italian, I really like that you cooked a very delicious plate and as a fan of Bourdain that you did a tribute
*Love u*
P.S. don't worry about your pronunciation, because it's pretty good :)
Aww...shucks. 😊Thank you.❤️
He was probably my favorite celebrity. So interesting, intelligent, humble, full of life experience. Talented, but still with a sense of wonder about people and their food that he gushed about a woman’s roadside bbq greens in Detroit (I’m a Michigander), calling them “luxurious.” I’m sure he made her whole year, haha. I wish he could have seen in himself. I love that you’re a fan!
Excellent tribute Emmy! The world definitely got a bit dimmer with his passing. Was such an inspiration.
What a great idea for a series! And a perfect tribute to Bourdain. I'd love to see you do a tribute to Paul Prudhomme, the master of Cajun/Creole cuisine. I grew up watching his shows on PBS and he always amazed me.
Yes!!! I loved watching his shows too.
How about Justin Wilson? He also made some righteous Cajun & Creole cooking.
The Italian in me is drooling.. Bellisima!
Also, please tribute Alan Rickman. So, maybe Harry Potter inspired recipes?
Ooo...I'm reading Harry Potter with my son, that would be so much fun!
Oh yes AlAn Rickman.....
That's a good one! If not Harry Potter, maybe something British?
Robin Holly my goodness please!
How about doing something based on his great villains?
this is the first emmy video i’ve watched in college, and it’s like a little piece of home. thanks emmy💕
*Have a blessed day everyone!*
Oh my gosh I know what you mean. I actually cried when I heard about Anthony Bourdain. It made me so sad to think he was so loved and admired by many but yet he left this world all alone and in such a sad way. 😥 RIP Monsieur Bourdain. And Emmy this looks so good I'm sure he'd be proud. 💙
You have a voice that is clear and pleasant to listen to, just thought I’d throw that in there 🤷🏻♀️.
I really like this recipe. Thank you for sharing.
I just found your account a few days ago and have been completely thrilled binge watching all your videos and now I’m starting to realize you probably live in or near Rhode Island which is really cool because you’re local to me. Awesome videos!
Four years later, and loving this.
Especially how you explain the nuances and clues of what to look for/work towards!
It hurt me so much hearing the news of his passing. My mom was also hit hard. We loved watching his show together. Thanks so much making a tribute video. Thats just great. Love it!
I'm drooling watching this... Looks delicious!
This one was a bit hard to watch, since I too feel like I’ve lost a good friend, ever though I never met him. I will always be grateful for the interesting information & insight he brought into our lives. Plus, I always thought the pasta in that episode sounded delicious. Emmy’s version looks amazing too. Thanks for that video! 💜
Oh Emmy. You’re going to make me cry. I miss Anthony Bourdain so much. 😢
After years of trying to teach my mother to say "itadakimasu," she watches one emmymadeinjapan video and picks it up instantly.
-_-
She is probably saying “ eat that ducky moss”
I've enjoyed no reservations for years then my wife started watching.anthony Bourdain will truly be missed..r.i.p chef.
This felt good to watch. Watching Anthony Bourdain really got me to look deeper at my own cooking. I felt so sad when he died. Thank you for this
Mr. Bourdain is a big inspiration to me, personally. I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmingly sad when i first heard his passing and i shed more than a few tears. I still feel sad when i remember him. Wish i could have met him.
I already know i'm gonna love love LOVE this series ❤ can't wait for the next episode!
Thank you so much for this. I also have greatly mourned since his untimely passing. I have spent many hours watching him on tv and have never felt a celebrity's death the way I have his.
Being the same age, and working in the food biz like Anthony Bourdain, I always felt a kinship. He would have appreciated that you focused on the food, and the journey rather than him. Thank you for that.
I think as a show I used to watch growing up I'd like to see Graham Kehr, the Galloping Gourmet as an upcoming Tribute.
I still miss Anthony Bourdain. I was shocked when I heard of his passing. Personally, I prefer to think of him as The Food Ambassador to the World because that was exactly what he did with his shows. Was there even a corner of the Earth he hadn't visited? Seems like he covered pretty much the entire globe, some more than once.
I’m rewatching his series, on Netflix, and I find myself smiling at all of his one liners. It’s very sad about what happened to him. He was just such an interesting and eventful man. Very very sad. 😞 lost a legend too soon.
I was interested in cooking because of my mum but my love for eating and food itself came mostly from watching Bourdain on TV. I’ve made a couple of very good friends whom I bonded through meals. There’s just nothing like sharing a meal with people who loves food. I know a number of young cooks who were similarly inspired by him, myself included. His death was quite a blow to us. May he continue to inspire us all to make and eat good food, hopefully with good company.
God yes! I still havent had an authentic version of this!! ❤️❤️❤️
Sorry, but it isn't. The original Italian recipe doesn't have butter and Parmigiano. But this meal looks good.
bourdain showed that no matter your beginnings, staying true, working hard and not forgetting where you came from success is possible - and yeah i could eat this dish by the bucketful!
You always make me smile with the adorable faces you make when you are eating. Such an expressive face and so much fun to see you experience so much and share it with us!
I love you Emmy! You are such a source of calm and relaxation during my daily routine
Thank you!🙏
"Nooo Reservations" Anthony Bourdain.
Huh?
Love all your videos Emmy! Great tribute episode!
One of the nicest tributes to a beautiful soul that I’ve seen. Thank you, Emmy. This dish (and his treatment of it) was so important. His passing has particularly bothered me, and it made me feel better about it to see you remember him 👍
Love the idea of the tribute recipes. Loved Anthony Bourdains show no reservations. He was really so cool to listen to. Such a sad loss. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t wait to try this! Thank you!
Simple with a twist!
Loving this series in particular
Looks so good and simple to make, thanks emmy!
Thank you for honoring Anthony Bourdain in such an appropriate and authentic way.
His words were deep. I felt almost every word.😢
Emmy, the Rime episode was my favorite as well. Anthony did what we should each do, leave a wide footprint when we pass, and our name and image on countless hearts and minds. I miss him.
This looks fantastic. Thank you, Emmy! Touching tribute to a wonderful man (to say the least) ♥️
This is one of my FAVORITE Italian dishes. Best quick dish to order while wandering the stone streets of Rome.
Thank you for showing us how to make it!
I love the music that was used at the beginning and the ending of the video. It just has this nostalgic yet sad vibe to it which seems appropriate for these tribute videos.
What a lovely tribute, Emmy. Super enjoyed this. My kids & I loved him... Watched all of his shows & bought all his books. He will be greatly missed... 💖
The loss of Anthony Bourdain completely shook me he had a life people only dream of having he was such an amazing man.
@Branzinotito There's always one...
He was so honest. Didn't sugar coat anything. He truly left an imprint on this world. My heart and prayers go out to all that knew him. Love and Blessings. XOXO
Rest in peace Anthony...may the tables of the beyond be blessed with your amazingness...! Thanks for this video Emmy!
A fitting tribute. Perfection in simplicity.
I’ve always wanted to try to make this, and it’s even better that it’s one of Anthony Bourdain’s recipes. Thank you for the video!
Anthony Bourdain absolutely touched my soul. I've been watching his shows for a million years. I had such a hard childhood, and was still very young when I discovered him on the Travel Channel. I could see the sadness in his eyes and I felt that he had similar sadness to me. I wish I could have met him, and I hope he finds his peace. I will be trying this dish asap!
Missing Bourdain and missing Rome, infinitely. Cacio e pepe was something I ate often during my two weeks traveling solo in Italy. It was pure comfort.
Emmy, you really bring a light in the youtube community. Love it ❤️
Aw this made me so nostalgic, thank you Emmy 💜💜💜
love your vids and Anthony Bourdain inspired me to try new spices and tastes in my cooking...
I made this for dinner this evening, complete with the parmigiana cup. Who knew such a simple group if ingredients could be so wonderful? I even browned the butter. Oh my goodness! A winner!
I’m Italian and I love Italian food to make for my family! Great look 👀
You are also someone connecting with folk in their homes, your very relaxed and friendly, educational video style combined with the food theme makes your channel a comforting place to visit- thank you for another awesome video! Really excited about this new series, best of luck!
*relaxed, friendly, and educational
I was 14 when I started watching his shows! Now 21 I’m so intrigued and inspired by Bourdain how he was such free spirited individual who didnt give a F about what others thought of him. I was so distraught when I heard the news but he always said that you gotta live now and enjoy life your own way, because you don’t know if tomorrow is your last day!
Why is your voice so dang comforting? I enjoy you, my darling. Thank you for being you!
I can tell that this dish made you Happy. Thanks for giving props to Anthony
I absolutely love this dish, so so yummy
Well done Emmy! A lovely tribute.
This makes my heart happy. Thank you for this video inspired by Anthony!
What simple dish can't wait to make it.
I actually read Kitchen Confidential and Medium Raw this summer! I've been on a Bourdain binge, so I really appreciate this video. Good stuff Emmy!!
R.i.p Anthony Bourdain, I miss his show. He was the realest traveling food TV personality. He wasn't afraid to go to gritty places, and he always gave such tribute and respect to others cultures.
Last one, but it’s a really good one. You should do a Golden Girls tribute. With like one or more of the weird recipes Rose would cook up. 🌹
That would be so cool
OMG yes that's a great idea
Agreed
This is my children’s favorite quick meal! It is so easy and delicious. A staple in all Italian homes!
Perfect way to pay respect towards Mr. Bourdain! Thanks so much Emmy 😄
I’ve watched your channel for 3 years almost 4 you never fail me 💚 love your channel and learning new stuff
Thanks for sticking with me. 🙌
Love this idea.
Thank you for this... great recipe. And I was so saddened by Anthony Bourdain's passing... he was one of the coolest celebrity chefs. Something about him was just so... humble and REAL.
Great idea, looking forward to your next tribute. And can't wait to make this.
Tried to watch this ... I still can’t see anything related to chef Anthony Bourdain without crying 😭 i looked up to that man and he inspired my pasión for food and travel since I was 8 years old . I tried to watch this but I can’t :( I’m so weak .
RIP chef we’re behind you ❤️
It also hit me harder than usual when Anthony passed. I have just lately (2019) gotten where I could watch anything about him, or anything with him in it.
Totally made this after watching!! Omg so good!! 💛
