The way you talk is how I wanted every teacher to be. It's informative, hilarious and has the sarcastic twinge that makes learning so much more educational and it'll help the facts stick. Thank you, Craig ♥
I try to make my classes as fun as weezy's videos. The issue is that weezy takes a loooooong time to make a 10 minute video. That's not a bad thing, it's just how long it takes to make 10 tight comedic informative minutes of content. A teacher has to write a *lot* of content (up to 25 hours) per week. We do our best but it's a lot.
counting calories made it painfully clear how many more calories I normally consume than is actually needed to generally sate my hunger, was very eye opening
There's definitely a Mirror Universe Craig making videos like “I got drunk every day for a month” and “I ate sugar for 30 days straight,” and he probably hates beards and works in a bald eagle rehabilitation center for punched eagles.
Hey Craig, your videos about health and particularly your video about intermittent fasting helped me lose 100lbs in 2020, and I have been feeling a bit like I’m slipping back into my old habits recently, but watching this has reminded me to be kind to myself, I’m sure I’ll get back on the wagon in my own time. Thanks for the advice, been watching you for a decade or so now! Keep up the good work.
In the past year I've started exercising regularly, and eating more healthfully, I've lost like 40lbs this year, and I'm honestly enjoying the food I eat now more than the food I was eating before. The key for me was realizing that supposedly unhealthy foods can be part of a healthy diet, if eaten in reasonable quantities along with more conventionally healthy items, and that the real enemy wasn't the stuff I really loved (homemade pizza), it was the stuff I only kind of enjoyed, but was really easy to get (frozen/delivery pizza). Odds are, most of the meal choices you make in a week are more about convenience than about enjoyment, so if you make healthy food convenient, you'll eat it more often. Then, when you do really want an enjoyable meal, get something great that will make you truly happy, not a $3 blob of chocolate flavored bread and corn syrup from the gas station.
"Perfect is the enemy of good" As a nutritionist I couldn´t agree more :) Approve all of your points. I especially think that trying out what works for YOU is important and being kind to yourself. Thank you for this video
as someone with an eating disorder, i love the mindset of this video. it's not about being perfect or adhering rigidly to rules that cause anxiety. it's about feeling good! thanks for this, craig.
These are great tips, I want to add that for people who really struggle with food and weight and compulsive eating, there is probably trauma involved. Trauma is a lot more common than we think. I recommend the book "Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving". Food is the very first thing we had as children to sooth our anxiety, and that stays with us for life until we deal with the source of the anxiety.
i know you get a bajillion billion comments but you're actually the reason i started running. growing up literally no one told me a run can still be a gentle jog. so thank you for this and your helpful tips!
I spent about 2 years eating incredibly strictly and barely had cheat meal. Hell, I didn’t have bread for an entire year. I picked up like 10kg of muscle and I looked incredible. But you know what? I was miserable. I hated eating and every meal felt like a chore to get through. And when I did “cheat” I would hate myself Fast forward a couple of years and now I still eat “clean” but I don’t eat purely for function anymore. I now eat to enjoy the food I make. It’s still “healthy” but it’s nice Also, like you, intermittent fasting has made me really be able to maybe eat like once a day or whatever but that meal I do eat slaps! I also bake some type of bread every week and have really gotten into baking cup cakes and other confections The way I changed my relationship with food really pulled me away from my depression and I so I couldn’t agree more with this video!
“Life is hard. Even if you’re not doing alright, you can try again, if you want to.” You manage to be so, so sincere in between your jokes and I love both.
It's just so COMFORTABLE to listen to you. It's like having an undemanding psychologist who is just nice to you without asking or requesting anything. He makes you think, and it's good, but without stress.
I suffer from really bad depression so my over eating gets out of control sometimes. I lost 60lbs but gained 1/3 back because of it. I beat myself up severely for ruining my hard work. Been trying to get back into it but it's hard. Sometimes hearing someone say it's okay to fail and try again is wholesome enough to give me hope that one day it'll come together again. I'm glad you've figured out what works for you! Here's to a year figuring this life out and finally being happy with ourselves. ♡

I'll add my tip: I've found that weighing intermittently is more effective at keeping me motivated than weighing daily. Weight can fluctuate a lot day to day for random things you can't really account for (or shouldn't have to). Weighing only a couple times a month gives a better snapshot on progress than daily check-in, in my experience. Also, slow sustained weightloss stays off better! And it's accomplishable with more modest health goals, like adding 15 minutes of exercise to your day and eating out less. I've lost 20lbs over 8 months, which isn't fast, but I didn't gain weight over the holidays despite basically throwing diet goals out the window. I feel less like I'm trying to manipulate my body and more like I'm trying to grow into a healthier one.
so delighted to hear "be kind to yourself" towards the end of the video. didn't realize i needed to hear it today. thank you for all that you do, craig! i really enjoy your videos and your humor! love from the philippines 💓🇵🇭
The one big tip I can give is: variety. Oh and calorie restriction. But the second one is more complicated than it seems because you have to know what your real maintenance calories are. When I was younger I ate 1900 calories because I didn't know anything other than I needed to eat less than what I normally did (I am a 200 lbs man). This was a mistake. When I became a 250 lbs man (because I eventually gave up on my 1900 calorie diet) I figured a few things out. My maintenance calories are probably close to 2900 (I am decently active, big muscles, etc). That means I was cutting 1000 calories a day (1/3rd of my daily calorie needs) so my body thought I was starving all the time and it made me miserable. So I ended up yo-yo dieting by accident. A strict 5 day schedule at 1900 cals a day and then who knows how much on the weekend! Consistency is better than restriction and binge. Trust me. For the last 245 days, I trimmed my cals back to 2300 per day, everyday (with 100 cal variation based on mood/hunger). Variety was key, high volume meals (vegetables, fruits, whole grains) combined with high calorie fun stuff (mostly baked goods like bread and treats - pure sugars like candy/pop just makes you too hungry and had weird side effects like water retention and pimples). I'm still losing weight but I did it slowly this time and retained a bunch of muscle. Took about 3 months to notice it in my clothes. But it was controlled and pleasant. 2300 a day. No binging. I get to eat pasta, curries, flat breads, butter (within reason), cheese, eggs, chicken, potatoes (lots of potatoes), and all the bake goods you could imagine (only rule is we have to make it ourselves and we're not allowed to cut corners: has to be full fat, full carb awesomeness. We get as much cake as our daily calories will allow. You could eat cake for the whole calorie alotment though i wouldn't recommend it. There's a sweet spot where you get a nice-sized piece without comprising on your other needs. If you do eat all your calories in cake you feel like poopy. We do best with around 10-15% of calories going to dessert/sweets every day. It has worked really well. Best "diet:" I've ever had but this was hard won after years of research and fitness. So far so good. Wow. That was a lot. Bye.
This is the most motivating video on being healthier I've seen. It's just nice to have someone give you tips without makin you feel like you absolutely have to take them. It makes lifestyle changes seem more flexible.
I found intermittent fasting the same - it def just reset my system for like "am I actually hungry rn or am I just bored/sad?" And that was really helpful.
Your style of delivering information it is to the point and sarcastic as hell Love it entertaining and educational ...ps good luck with the space baby thing
I too have learned that my focus on eating right and moving ebbs and flows. I used to feel bad when I would get off the exercise bandwagon but now I know, I'll get back into it when I'm ready and that's ok. Extremely few people exercise regularly their whole lives, so let's not set ourselves up with unrealistic goals.
This feels like a particularly a propos message for the start of February… mindful eating, and acknowledging that I am maintaining my weight, has been a big part of raising my self-esteem in the past year or so. Allowing myself to indulge in treats, and to feel good about the yummy deliciousness of said treat, has been key to a lot of happiness during the pandemic for me ☺️ It stopped me from falling into a negative cycle of guilty eating.
This video really cracked me up while still being very informative !!! I’m a 23 yo muslim woman and I absolutely love your content. I am grateful you’re doing all of these things to improve your life, you inspire me as well to put my life together and you have no idea how grateful I am to have found your channel !! I wish you the best Craig ! Please keep going !! You have a real impact !!
This is making me more relaxed .. i lost around 12 kgs in 4 months, then i lost control of my routine and diet, I didn't know how to stop the diet which wasn't sustainable at all, and i gained around 5 kgs, and now every time i try to go hard mode on, i just f up again, which is frustrating, it's good to have someone who can give you realist and not so hard solutions
I’m having a really hard week and had terrible anxiety at work and have just been beating myself up and being really hard on myself. This is the video I needed today. Thank you.
Everything in this video has been my own personal life journey for the last 6 years now. The have patients & be kind to yourself (aka, forgove yourself for not being perfect and falling off the band wagon) parts are ABSOLUTELY key to better habits. In todays society learning to be healthy is most definitely a marathon not a sprint. I'll likely be on this journey for years to come, if not the rest of my life. Thanks for getting the word out there fellow human & future Space Baby... (we WILL make it happen!)
Loved the call back in the intro there with the chair slide. Also, I've been living my diet by just eating "generally healthy" and not being uber specific for a while and I found it has worked so much better for me. Love this video. Cheers!
I couldn't agree more with your philosophy Craig. After years of battling with health and weight management and finally coming to a good place, the 1 rule I've found most important in the process is: What works for me may not work for you. And that's okay.
it's interesting how some people like Craig can do diets/challenges like these and learn something positive from them and other people tend to spiral into unhealthy behaviors/habits due to restriction. I wonder why
Needed this. Been going strong for the last month with better eating habits and exercise but with it taking a bit to see results, this is welcomed encouragement. Thanks Craig!
Need more of this content. Yes healthy eating is good for you. But you're a lot to indulge now and again. The measure when it matters point is a fantastic one.
I just stumbled on to your channel as I was looking for weight loss and healthy eating habits. I have to say WOW. This is me. I can totally relate. I feel that there were some great tips in your video that I can use for myself. I am happy I just happened upon your video here ! thank you.
the thing that got me to being more put together in healthy was just general goals (like you mention) and being kind to myself (also like you mention). Beating yourself up because you didn't eat enough carrots isn't going to help you be a better person, you can just eat carrots tomorrow. Its okay. The point is to keep trying, and if something doesn't work for you, try something else. To me, life isn't a ladder to be climbed in discrete measurable steps, its a direction you walk. And its okay to stop and smell the flowers, as long as you keep going in the right direction in the end.
thats well said im only getting into the fitness industry and beating ourselves up is sadly, commonplace. its not even restriced to the stereotypical overweight gymgoer either, from huge female bodybuilders to streamlined long distance runners😅
There is a joy I get from your videos that I can only get from your videos. Like a favorite food or a favorite jacket, your videos delight me in a truly unique way.
Thank you. I’ve watched a few of your videos and this one solidified why I enjoy your content. You remind me of Marshal Rosenberg’s statement, “Don’t do anything that isn’t fun.” (Or something like that… I cannot find the exact words). Fun doesn’t mean it has to be easy. And you look like you enjoy your challenges. Thank you for sharing your time experiences.
Wheezy waiter I appreciate how honest you are with your videos and I loved how motivational you were there at the end (not sure if that's what you were trying for) that if you fail just keep going and trying. Thank you
Sensible ideas, everything in moderation! And something else to remember is to be busy - I try to occupy myself I'm tempted to eat out of boredom, or make a hot drink. That can stave off the hunger pangs!
Every time I watch one of your videos, Craig, I laugh my best laughter for extended periods, and I feel, in a relative sense, outrageously good about myself as a normal human being. Thank you for what you do on this channel, I really should become a Patron…
I found your videos yesterday and I’ve now seen 6 or so of them and I appreciate the humor and information. I could learn from you every day and enjoy myself every time.
Hey Creggo! I have loved following your health journey. I've been a beard lover since almost the beginning. I appreciate how you've shifted your channel as you've grown and developed as a person.
I’m sure no one cares about what I have to say but coming from someone who has struggles from an eating disorder for most of my life finding ways of getting healthier without counting calories has been the key to a lot of the ways that I was able to get healthier.
Really good advice, basically I did the same with my eating habits and cut a lot of sugar out of my daily diet, ended up losing nearly 90 lbs over two years. Slow I known but I'm in a stable weight range that I can easily manage and indulge when i want to.
This was so nice and was perfect timing for me to hear. I've also had shorter periods of time where I count calories, and it works very well for me. Once in a while I weigh myself, and if my weight start to go up, I'll start counting calories again. I'm actually in a period with this now, and I just reached my "normal" weight. This is the first time though, that I feel like it's ok if I can't maintain it at all times, and I accept that I sometimes need to do this. So thank you for reinforcing my self acceptance.
I haven't done as out there or as strict diets or challenges like you have but my experiences have been pretty similar, and all the advice feels accurate and helpful. Thanks for being you :)
Thanks, you are so fun, and make things seem doable. Yes! Watch What about Bob! Also, I used to go to a crazy healthy and knowledgeable chiropractor who eats so clean, and he told me stress is more toxic than Ramen noodles, so yes, relax and be kind to self.
I love the 80/20 approach when it comes to food (over the course of weeks/months). There is very little (if any) harm in snacking once in a while. Much better than burning out and reversing to a super bad diet! Consistency wins, as always.
WeezyWaiter you are the wise man that everyone needs! Learning through experience is a much better teaching tool than just saying facts to others. Thanks for all of the knowledge you have given the community over the years!
I've been over-eating for years, I just enjoy eating tons of food and stuffing myself. On the other hand, I hate exercising. I just can't stick to a routine, it's not enjoyable. Over the pandemic, I stopped eating cereal and sliced bread and I usually eat very little in the mornings. And last summer, I really cracked down on my eating. I still eat a lot of the same things I did before, just a lot less of it. And I've experimented a bit with swapping things out and whatnot. I hadn't been weighed since early 2020, and back then I was about 230lbs. I have a scale now and yesterday I weighed in at 205.6lbs, and I was 210lbs when I got in just over a month ago. So I don't know when those 20lbs were lost but I imagine it was when I stopped stuffing myself. XD
Thank you wheezy, for always being able to phrase life's big anxieties, in a way that is informative and funny, that makes me actually want to tackle the problem with kindness and understanding, instead of with anger and misguidance. and the funnies make that easier, somehow. this and the inspiration video are gonne be bookmarks in my tab from now on.
Hey look. Someone that put how I eat into words. But like, in a funny relatable way. I love that since I lost my main weight, I held it off for a year and I wasn't restricting after that initial loss. And it means it worked and is permanent because I ENJOYED junk food and didn't gain (for like a weekend or party or whatever feels). Then I go back to normal living which is maintainence. Now I'm back to weight loss mode AND IT SUCKS but I have goals. I can enjoy all the foods in 4 months
I 100% needed this!! Thank you!! I have lost 20lbs in 30 days. I keep reminding myself this is a long term mindset. Lesson 7 was my absolute favorite btw.
I adore this, your video style and your humor! Cannot wait to see the year long no alcohol video too! Can’t imagine what that footage folder looks like
Great video. I think temporary restriction has made me more creative with cooking other foods I like but wouldn't normally cook. Agree it makes new habits that change over time.
One of the most depressing things when I had a lot of weight ot lose and counted calories: when I found out what a serving of pasta actually was and how many calories it had in such a small amount of food...it definitely helped me
Without a doubt you are my favourite person on this tube thing. Can you adopt me and educanate me in all things life. I am in my forties, and do have family, but I've still got a lot to learn and give. Disclaimer, my back hurts from sitting in chairs too long.
Everybody has a different body so basically be mindful about what you eat and pay attention to your body and you might figure out what's best for you
I love that you mention one about Bob it's one of my favorite movies. My family quotes it all the time
this made me absolutely ball my eyes out, especially at the end. there’s something about your way with words that’s so special. thank you bub!
And its okay to stop and smell the flowers, as long as you keep going in the right direction in the end.
thats well said
im only getting into the fitness industry and beating ourselves up is sadly, commonplace.
its not even restriced to the stereotypical overweight gymgoer either, from huge female bodybuilders to streamlined long distance runners😅
Had the wrong word for the quote, but similar intent: “… that isn’t PLAY.” 😄
Wheezy waiter I appreciate how honest you are with your videos and I loved how motivational you were there at the end (not sure if that's what you were trying for) that if you fail just keep going and trying. Thank you
Sensible ideas, everything in moderation! And something else to remember is to be busy - I try to occupy myself I'm tempted to eat out of boredom, or make a hot drink. That can stave off the hunger pangs!
Yes!!! Be compassionate towards yourself. You really matters to you.
"I felt bad about it. I shouldn't have." Relatable to my core.
Every time I watch one of your videos, Craig, I laugh my best laughter for extended periods, and I feel, in a relative sense, outrageously good about myself as a normal human being. Thank you for what you do on this channel, I really should become a Patron…
I’ve just discovered ur videos and u love them 😍😍 You + China = Relationship goals! ☺️
I forgot about the angelic choir chair slide….hit me right in the nostalgia 🥲
I found your videos yesterday and I’ve now seen 6 or so of them and I appreciate the humor and information. I could learn from you every day and enjoy myself every time.
First time I don’t skip a sponsorship ad. That was so fast paced and entertaining.
Hey Creggo! I have loved following your health journey. I've been a beard lover since almost the beginning. I appreciate how you've shifted your channel as you've grown and developed as a person.
Yay for bringing Firefly back! Let's get Craig to that all-seeing-baby state by subscribing!
What About Bob is a family favorite! You should watch it for the pod.
I’m just starting a calorie diet. Thank you for the reminder to be kind to myself!
Thank you! I love how you don't put incessant music behind yiur videos.
Oops *your
I hope I can look back in a few months and say this video popped up in my recommended at just the right time.
I’m sure no one cares about what I have to say but coming from someone who has struggles from an eating disorder for most of my life finding ways of getting healthier without counting calories has been the key to a lot of the ways that I was able to get healthier.
Really appreciated this vid. Thanks Craig!!!
I honestly think this is the most important video of your I've seen thus far! Great job Craigo!
The chaos of your videos while teaching me things really speaks to my INFP soul. Your videos are the dopest Craig. Supes dope
Really good advice, basically I did the same with my eating habits and cut a lot of sugar out of my daily diet, ended up losing nearly 90 lbs over two years. Slow I known but I'm in a stable weight range that I can easily manage and indulge when i want to.
What About Bob is HILARIOUS and should be required viewing for everyone. Every. One.
Space baby will bring back firefly?! Screw it I'm in!
Definitely watch What About Bob.
I haven't done as out there or as strict diets or challenges like you have but my experiences have been pretty similar, and all the advice feels accurate and helpful. Thanks for being you :)
WIth the policy of bringing back Firefly, I will be happy to vote you to be the All Knowing Baby In The Centre Of Universe.
That was by far the most engaging daily harvest ad I have ever seen
Craig has the best takes.
Thanks, you are so fun, and make things seem doable. Yes! Watch What about Bob! Also, I used to go to a crazy healthy and knowledgeable chiropractor who eats so clean, and he told me stress is more toxic than Ramen noodles, so yes, relax and be kind to self.
I feel so indetified, cause I can naturally do that thing with my nose, and the another thing with my tounge. Thank you, Craig.
Awesome video!
Totally agree on everything you said. Just find something that works for you and be kind to yourself 🙂
Totally with you on bring back FireFly
I've just realized recently that I'm at this kind of "place" in my relationship with food too. Pretty cool, thanks for sharing!
Your existence makes me happy. Space baby or not. Thank you for existing 🖤
How have you not seen "What About Bob?" It's fantastic!
Your editing skills are dazzling
I adore this, your video style and your humor! Cannot wait to see the year long no alcohol video too! Can’t imagine what that footage folder looks like
thank you for this, brings a lot of comfort
Great video. I think temporary restriction has made me more creative with cooking other foods I like but wouldn't normally cook. Agree it makes new habits that change over time.
HI CRAIG. I'M NOT YELLING OUT OF ANGER I'M EXCITED I JUST LEARNED HOW TO YELL IN COMMENTS!!!
Look good, feel long, live good, enjoy life.
What about Bob was amazing! I need to watch it again to see if it holds up.
100% spot on. You and I are really similar. Thanks for making great content.
Oh you...this is such a great video. So much wisdom said in a very delightful, funny, and easily comprehended way.
But other than that, I would flourish under your guidance.
I love this channel and everyone in it. Thank you for choosing a route of sustenance that gives back! 💖
