Most convertibles are similarly built, and water is kept out by two pieces of rubber pushed together. If rubber isn’t maintained it becomes hard and no longer seals properly. I think this can work and it’s worth a try. Your rubber needs rejuvenating. Sometimes a leaky roof is structural, for example, if the car was in an accident and the roof was replaced or bent back to normal… rubber rejuvenation won’t help. Keep me updated if you do try to moisten the rubber with silicone. Also, your drainage holes could be clogged, and may need clearing as shown in the video. Definitely worth trying.
@@TAYxBENZO you may also want to waterproof your roof fabric. Sometimes on the CLK that can also be the problem. Autoglym makes a roof protectant spray but others do too. Here’s a video I made on how to do this: ua-cam.com/video/r1JraU2HFKA/v-deo.htmlsi=O-uT1OuBFZVjAUbP

Oops I ment 2001. But I’m going to try your method today/tomorrow. Hopefully it helps. Been dealing with this problem for years 😂

👍 From Holland
Bedankt!
Previous owner of mine did the ole giants globs of black silicone as “patch” work🙃
Oh no. That's terrible. Black silicone caulking should be kept for sealing shower floors and kitchens, and not for cars or their roofs.
👍
