On my system Zone 4, I used to have Rain Bird HE 12VAN nozzles. But I upgraded all the sprinklers on the Zone to Hunter Pro spray PRS40 sprinkler heads with hunter MP2000 nozzles.
Most stems are able to rachet both directions by grabbing it below the nozzle and twisting in the direction you need. It will make a racheting noise but it's expected. If it's too tough they might not be able to as some models aren't able to and you would need to adjust the head that goes underground.

These appear to be so much better.
My nozzle sprays straight in the air. I like this better.
Can I change the direction? Mine is spraying to the left and we did some landscaping and now need it to spray to the right. How can I fix that please.

Whenever you can use fixed arc spray nozzles, use them rather than VAN. Trust
They also look like van nozzles with roots in it
Just buy the 18VAN 360 right

They're great, but fragile. Doesn't take much to break the thin top and spray goes everywhere.
I have this in zone 1 outside not inside is a spray head
With time the spray pattern changes. Not worth the effort.
I don't like these nozzles. One step, and I have seen these nozzles break.
I like the Rainbird rotary spray nozzles the best.

Hunter mp rotators all the way the rainbirds clog to easy
