    “I think that the yellow brick road is no longer the path that you just keep following, because there is no wizard there that’s going to give you your hearts desire. Life is a series of walking adventures. As you’re walking, smell the flowers and feel the air. And maybe you’ll realize you’re actually flying.” - Jon Chu

      I loved this & felt his deep emotion as he said it. That is the point of Wizard of Oz, but it can take some of us a little longer to figure it out.❤️🌈

      @@b-dub6865im pretty sure the wizard of oz is an allegory on capitalism and the way it distorts reality in order to attract labor under false pretenses. the emerald city is not real, people have to literally wear emerald glasses in order to see it. the wizard isnt real and the only person who can save you is yourself. L. Frank Baum literally wrote it based on an experience he had going out west under the false pretense that there was lucrative work. when he arrived he learned that it was all just propaganda and the reality was that he was just as well off if not worse than he was when he was home. if that isnt completely on the nose for how hollywood operates i dont know what is.
      the truth is the Oz books are thinly veiled criticisms of how America was operating in the late 19th century. - its not about the magic because its a consistant theme in the Oz books that the moral is not to be hypnotized by the pomp and pageantry of industry and success in this country, because its ultimately hollow and unfulfilling. you must find happiness within yourself and appreciate what you have and the loved ones you have. youre not going to find happiness in the emerald city because it is a lie and dorothy learns this when she arrives and finds that what she is looking for and what shes missing in life cannot be found in the glitz and glamour of the emerald city, its within herself that she must look and thats where the true magic in life is found.
      the grass is always greener - well the emerald city surely tells you how green it is, but its not till you arrive that you realize it sucks.
      the problem with these types of Oz related projects is that its so completely dazzled by the surface level spectacle of the material that it completely misses the point.

    Playing in theaters, on November 22, there's always Somewhere over the _________ when Wicked has two figure a good witch with her white dress Glinda and a bad witch with a green face named Wanda. Director Jon M. the son of immigrant parents, immersed himself in American culture growing up from Crazy Rich Asians to In The Heights, he had all the musical charms with Asian-American work. Now with a new film Wicked, he tells his work of how he became a filmmaker by building a career. His childhood infatuates his life watching 'The Wizard of Oz' the last time it was a masterpiece but before Dorothy, he tells about how this Broadway smash was in NY during the time it was a master piece. for what Broadway cast were they in Wicked? Two films tapping to his own identity and translating stories of struggle and ambition to the silver screen. He talks with correspondent Jo Ling Kent about how his childhood infatuation with that 1939 tale from Frank L. Baum's book. And that film was in the work a year ago.....

    • @NIGHTGUYRYAN
      @NIGHTGUYRYAN Місяць тому +2

      TLDR: I AGREE!
      its kind of an insane ask for the audience to watch half of the story when we know its going to be atleast 2 hours each. its already a musical about the wizard of oz (not saying its not a good musical) - movie goers havent been happy with musicals lately and other than the OG wizard of oz, every subsequent Oz related film has been a major flop and dissapointment. hollywood keeps trying to make broadway happen and its not going to happen (see mean girls).
      i think this is gonna majorly flop since Ariana has blown up her fanbase with the homewrecking scandal and people are not going to pay for half of a musical in this economy. its a desperate attempt to squeeze as much from the audience as possible with a story that really doesnt have enough going on to warrant a 2 parter. would you go to half of wicked on broadway? its a 3 act story that works on stage, but the Oz universe is flimsy at best when it comes to being a fully fledged world (the emerald city and the wizard are literally meant to represent a false illusion) spend enough time in the emerald city and you'll notice its not all what it seems. its all window dressing. sorry for the wall of text.

    Glad he’s helming the project, but I still think sending Wicked out against Gladiator is not a good idea. They should delay until December when it has a Christmas release and can possibly top the box office

    • @manuelorozco7760
      @manuelorozco7760 Місяць тому +1

      I was hoping it would stick to its original December plans as well. But it would have to compete with that crazy Mufasa spin off from Disney

    • @NIGHTGUYRYAN
      @NIGHTGUYRYAN Місяць тому +1

      while this whole project seems to have an endless stream of bad ideas - this part was smart. nobody is going to be happy about going out for a christmas movie only to find out its only half of a story (part 1 and part 2) - people want a whole story if theyre going to take the whole family out. also pairing it with gladiator is genuis - there is no overlap of fans for both - so a guy can go see gladiator and his girlfriend can go see wicked part 1. i dont think wicked fans would see gladiator in theatres, and gladiator fans will never want to watch wicked. its never going to be an either or situation. but wicked versus another family friendly film would be a bad decision because aside from musical theatre fans, most people cant stand movie musicals.

    • @NIGHTGUYRYAN
      @NIGHTGUYRYAN Місяць тому +1

      he's gotta be a director who does exactly what the studio wants even when its a bad idea - theres no way Jem and the holograms was a movie he did in earnest. it was so bad and boring that he'd never get work again. i think he's one of those directors studios like because he's perfectly fine with rolling with bad executive decisions like making this doomed movie into a two parter.

      he made a low budget Jem movie that was Jem and the holograms in name alone. he did exactly what the studio wanted and when it bombed he didnt throw them under the bus - which was why he continues to work in hollywood. its similar to the director of mad max (miller i think?) he did happy feat and babe 2 because the studio just needed a director - and in return for delivering the tripe the studio asked for, he was allowed to make mad max fury road. sometimes its a bit of "scratch my back ill scratch yours" type of agreement versus it being a passion project.
      its possible this director can only make films like crazy rich asians (which was good) if he agrees to direct crap like Jem and the holograms or this disaster. sometimes its about playing ball rather than executing a unique artistic vision.

      i truly don't think it could've been adapted for the big screen any other way. an already rushed show, especially act 2, without proper development for the characters/major plot moments brushed past quickly. also so much happens in the whole show it'd be too much for one movie.

    • @turnipcrazy4602
      @turnipcrazy4602 Місяць тому +6

      The movie would have probably felt too rushed if both acts were combined into one movie. They would have had to cut songs, shorten scenes because with the medium of film, you can't just go through the whole show like it's presented on stage, because there's establishing shots, scenes need more room to breath. For this musical I think it's best to have it be two parts

    I disagree with him. There is a path in life that is the path of Christianity. If Christianity is sincerely followed, it will not be an easy path to follow. There will be many tests and trials along the path. Those tests and trials, are designed by the Lord Jesus Christ to build our character and strength along the way! These tests and trials are something that I will never take for granted. They indeed serve as reminders to me that I am his child and that I will always be his child regardless of how tough the circumstances may seem. I WILL OVERCOME THEM ALL! AMEN! So whether I am laughed at or even mocked for this post, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND SERVE JESUS CHRIST NO MATTER WHAT! AMEN! #FROMASINCERECHRISTIANTRAVELINGTHENARROWROADOFLIFE! #PEACEBEUNTOYOUALL!
