Well up here in Michigan I’ve been fishing through 20 inches of ice, haven’t seen that much in years. Not catching much but at least out in the fresh air. They’re redoing the boat launch they got it dug out, formed up, graveled and compacted waiting for a little warmer weather. Can’t wait till spring get the boat back out!!!!
My 73' 25hp was doing the same, stayed in reverse popped out of forward, I switched the forward and reverse gear in the lower (as they are the same ), now stays in forward have to hold in reverse but not an issue. Glad you're working on these again.
Hey. I've done a few over the years but it was just part of the build- in others I don't have a specific video titled "upper crank shaft seal replacement". So hears the next best thing- ua-cam.com/video/KDJNHfOgYFw/v-deo.html Thanks!
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 thank you still runs great but this winter it showed signs of oil on coils all da sudden after the 3 yrs I've had it I assume that's my issue
Looks like you're getting it done.....I found out from a buddy of mine yrs ago that a Cross tread is just as good as a lock nut....lol.... You can always tell witch one it should be...most new solenoid stud nuts takes a 12mm wrench and the original one is a 1/2 in wrench.....
I don't believe I missed any of your videos since you've moved and did you ever find Captain Ron you haven't mentioned him excellent video troubleshooting
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yeah he finally called me- his wife got ill and had an operation- So he's been taking care of her- That's all I know. Thanks again !
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! This Old Outboard still had the Lockout lever on it but I probably won't put it back on. Actually the lockout lever is kind of a "neutral safety switch". It locks the rewind starter if the outboard was left in gear- preventing it from being pull started. Just a safety thing. Thanks again !
Had the same issue with my 78 25 hp. Just replaced my forward gear and spun the clutch dog 180. See if that does it. Curious if there is any way to adjust the linkage on these. Thanks for the video!
Yeah I know about the clutch dog thing- another guy said he just swapped the foreword/reverse gears- and holds the handle while in reverse- Whatever Works! Thanks!
I'd be willing to bet your forward gear inset needs to be recut...for the dog great incert to make a permanent bite....just did one the other day...I use a really good snap on die cutter.... I'm sure you've been there before
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. No- luckily I haven't been there! Hahaha- I've heard you can just turn the clutch dog around and/or another guy commented and said he just swapped the foreword & reverse gears- but the problem goes to using the reverse. Those gears aren't cheap! Maybe on ebay. We'll see what happens- Thanks again !
My back feels for you! Hopefully you can get some help hauling that motor off the boat. Maybe too much load for the short shaft causing it to jump out of gear?
Here's other good reason for a late 50's OMC 10 to 18 hp, no battery needed. why easier to get dialed in with two needles. Alot less things to go wrong way less adjustments

I know it sucks that its popping out of gear but these are the best episodes we love to see you fix the problem
Thanks for tuning in!
You will get that 20HP Johnson running great soon enough!
I hope so! Thanks again !
Hell yea brother. Great content and much love to ya from Maryland ❤❤❤.
Hey Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Good luck! I know you'll get it fixed. You are the man, MAN!
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Hopefully I'll end up with a good running motor! Thanks again !
“You bad boy” hahaha
Hahaha! Thanks !

Lock out lever is the thing for reverse 😅😊

Hey, it’s got good compression.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Tune in next time when we hear TOO say, “damnit, your a bad boy”😂
Hahaha! Thanks again !
It's always a saga for real..
But if anyone can figure out all the pains in the ass it's you

Hey. Thanks for tuning in! No I've had other small outboards on it without any problems. It just may need adjusted. Thanks again !
Man, what luck. Looks like you may need a dog and a forward gear (or a strong bungee cord). Not uncommon. Thanks for the video.
First time for me! Thanks!

Hey! Cool man! send me one! preferably an 57 18hp! Hahaha- Thanks again !
2:16 Hot-HOT I'm glad your brain is working, mine has contracted its so cold up here🥶
Hahaha Yeah its thawing out! I wouldn't last a day up north!
Only an idiot puts a ob that size when the boat is in the water. It was better when it was on a trailer to fit and test start.
Wrong! you let this idiot worry about whats better. Capiche!!!
