Zigbee Range is not an issue, Zigbee devices create a mesh network that is half the point of Zigbee vs Wifi routing, Zigbee is the really the only sane choice for having devices which need to be outside etc, since it is a mesh network each device can communicate through each other back too the controller, just make sure your Zigbee devices are within range of each-other.

Not true if you’re talking about battery powered devices. Those are endpoints only.
At the moment I only have this one device, so no mesh for me ATM 😔
