Freddie Mercury was there and fell in love with her voice this night, so much they later did an album together. 💛

    6:55 I love the way she screams "e m'afissa"
    It sounds like "meraffì"

Impressive Caballe with a cold...ugh, a nightmare for an opera singer! 🌹

Wonderful singing with an unparalled purity of tone, only the top C is below her best

Caballe sang this amazing Performance with heavy cold! I think there was also an announcement at the beginning of the performance…despite the Cold she sang an amazing Amelia!!!

I wonder how a singer with cold tests the voice to know that she can pull it through

@@LohengrinO sometimes they really risk! I have the complete recording of this Ballo and Caballe at the end of the duet with Pavarotti, she almost cracked!

@@OperaMyWorld I remember Birgit saying once before a performance, she was testing the Voice, the top was there, the low was there, the middle was gone...

@@LohengrinO Yes because some singers even said that being in cold, some they have better low notes and some even top! But on the whole connection of the sounds from the low trough the middle to the high is not good and you crack!

@@LohengrinO just depends on where the cold is. If it’s directly on your chords (vocal folds) then no singing. If it’s more in your nose (sinus cold) or tonsils (tonsillitis) most singers, if the technique is good enough to begin with, can “sing around a cold” by not singing too soft as normal but also not a loud.
