- Aka the plane that crashed a bajillion times and killed Concorde.
Welcome to my fleet histories series. In it I review year-by-year aircraft fleets of an airline.
In this video i go through the history of American's McDonnell Douglas DC-10 fleet from 1971 to 2000.

"Aka the plane that crashed a bajillion times and killed Concorde." XD nice description
No airbus did.
@@mahboobakhajawall7348 It was a joke.
I would rather trust a Boeing a American built aircraft any day over the European made Airbus.
@@americasdream1265 They both produce good aircraft.
*DC-10-10, the DC-10-30 went on to become one of the safest airplanes ever built
The old silver AA livery was timeless, pure class
American, the worlds largest airline, has 1461 planes, which includes 573 regional planes through 6 contractors for American Eagle - and ALL of them have 2 engines. I miss the 727s, DC-10s, 707s and CV 990s of the old days.
The DC-10 shown for the year 1974 is N110AA. That was the aircraft operating flight 191 which crashed on May 25, 1979 at Chicago O'Hare.
I believe the photo shown was at the Long Beach factory just prior to delivery.
Ibirdball! That is 191 was crashed due to lost left engine.
This as all American Airlines aircraft looked great in the bare metal scheme in these colors. Perfect picture in the winter scene, very beautiful.
they didn't put paint on their planes because each coat of paint added about 2000 lbs to the weight of the plane so they wasn't painted at that time because of the bigger payloads
Ok here are 2 crashes of popular crashes of dc-10
1: American 191 (deadliest air crash in American History)
2: American 96 (Cargo Door burst)
American 96 was an incident, not a crash.
Ibirdball i know they landed safely no crash I watch landing Animation American 96
The bare metal livery, the livery that I like in american airlines!
I prefer the new livery :).
@@Ibirdball nah old is better

I didn’t choose to crew her. Went to the MD80 instead. Sure do miss those passenger seats. Thanks for the great look back.

RIP. AA191
Anyone realise that none of AA’s DC-10 has the DC-10 Luxury Liner logo at the front, replaced by American Airlines Luxury Liner after 1979, maybe the Chicago disaster did dipped public confidence about the DC-10, and American Airlines especially
Very nice!
0:27 American airlines flight 191
some of these pictures aren't in the right year. After 1979, all DC-10 stickers where changed to American Airlines Luxury Liner, due to the Chicago Incident.
Which ones? I had never noticed that before.
1:14 is there dude
@@x_xkerwinyeoeaaviationx_x4394 chill dude relax i was wrong get over it
Alexander Gonzalez oh ok
@@Ibirdball THE AA Luxury Liners was not known just for the DC-10 it was any wide Body plane such as the 747
I wish they would bring back that old livery. Think how much they would save on paint

What was the replacement aircraft for the dc10?
From what I found whilst researching this, it was originally MD-11s, but both them and the DC-10 were replaced by the 767-300ER.
what about the 777 200 ? was that the replacment to ?
As far as I know, it was more of a complement to their 763ER fleet.
and maybe the md 11
ok, thank u, ibrdball, but u should start putting the replacment aircraft at the end of your fleet history videos
#AA191
#AA96
Please Make American Airlines Md 11 Fleet History, Thanks🙏
I have a question,do the AA 747s still operate?
No. They only had the 747-100 and 747SP which they retired in the 1980s I believe.
Ibirdball Thanks
Np :)

What's the song's name?
Look in the description...
Ibirdball Sorry Didn't Notice It
I just thought 2 vid a say but gh upfate qas yeaterday:)
The L-1011 I liked with GE engines.
29 years of service with American Airlines!
I always wanted to ride on that kind of plane before it turned to a cargo plane.
This is a strange fact but on the final dc-10 flight for American when the plane was landing in Dallas, the plane went of the runway.
It then had its landing gear detached from the plane
@@sumeetbeniwal6365 is there like a video or any proof you can show me of this happening?
@@RobloxianX i do not know how to send the link of the footage
Oh sorry..i messed up. What i was talking about was the last flight of the dc-10-30 which was in 1993. The last ever dc10 for American was a dc10-10. The last flight of the dc-10-30 in 1993 is the one that went off the runway, it had its gears detached then it ran into mud and parts of the wing were broken off as the gears were detached because after they detached the wing was dragging along the ground breaking pieces off of the wing. A couple of people were injured but there were no fatalities on ground or in the plane.
@@sumeetbeniwal6365 alright
I have flyed n103aa on September 25th
What plane?
Dc 10
Airline?
American airlines
I been on the md-11 american in 1971-1978 may 12th
The MD-11 in 1971-1978? What?
md-11 existed in 1990 not 1971 thats the year when airbus a300 existed
I have never liked the planes that had it's engines on the back tail section of the aircraft and most of the reason is they are very loud if you jet on the tail of the plane. So much more quiet on the Boeing 737's 747's 757's 767's and 787's
@@americasdream1265 🙄
Jetstar Airbus A321
that was not made by a us aircraft builder and the A321 is a Airbus made by the EU and the McConnell Douglas DC -10 and Boeing are. McConnell Douglas was purchased by Boeing.

Yep, that photo was taken at New York Idlewild/JFK.
Ibirdball I subscribed you. I'm getting an American Airlines 767,a Delta Airlines 737,and a United Airlines 747
Nice, which model manufacturer?
Ibirdball Daron (I don't know if they are models or toys)
Joke:What sound does an airplane make when it bounces?
Idk, a clunking I guess? I've not had many bumpy landings so I can't really say xD.
Ibirdball instead of going boing,it goes Boeing
Try adding 'Joke:' a bit earlier xD.
Ibirdball yes, that's why I edited it
