Rode in the cab of #81 one week ago. Still going strong. The entire setup in Ely is amazing. This video is great in that it gives more of the history of #81 and shows it stripped down for repair. Amazing the work that was involved to get it up and running again. Thanks for sharing.
What a great operation. The 81 is beautiful and the authentic old truss-rod equipment is wonderful. I can hardly wait to see the 40 join these old girls some day.
Wow, I am so sorry for the super late response, for some reason I am not getting notification on comments, I promise we will be more attentive. Thanks for your comment it means tons to us. I bet we see a triple header once #40 is returned to service.
@@michaelcolucci5734 It happened in 1995. Serious damage to the front of the locomotive and frame. The impact was so strong that the tender smashed into the rear of the cab.

Yes Roger the N.N RLW operations are commendable, #81 and her sisters #40-#83, beautiful !
That was very enjoyable to watch, thanks for all your effort in putting this body of work together 😊 🇦🇺
Thank you, Jeff; your comment helps justify the amount of work it takes to produce such a film. We love doing it!

A beautiful loco
Indeed she is, hopefully, you can see her in person. Thanks for the comment.
81 should one day do a tripleheader with 93 and 40 after she comes back from her 1472 FRA Day Inspection.

Real nice footage, thanks for sharing. Who built these locos originally? Alco? Lima? Baldwin? Richmond?
Thanks for the nice comment, Baldwin was the builder of choice for the Nevada Northern.
Question: why is #NNRY81's boiler jacket green?
Thanks for the question, not well known a number of railroads sported Green Boiler Jackets. When delivered #81 was presented in a glorious Green!
What happened in 93s wreck several years ago did it crash into something?
A flat car full of ties broke free , heading downhill it ran into #93.
Oh wow so it was a serious head on collision. What got damaged just the front of the locomotive and what year did it happen?

@@chasingtrains7827 Wasn't it a centerbeam?
Today, the locomotive is in operation at the Nevada Northern. We all know that.
