Long ago a species of bird landed on this atoll finding a haven without predators, they developed flightlessness. But this meant that when rising sea levels submerged the islands there was no means of escape for these birds and they went extinct. After thousands of years under water the islands resurfaced. But oddly enough the fossils of the birds before the flood are nearly identical to the flightless birds that still wander the atoll today. So how did these birds manage to de-extinct themselves? We’ll find out in this Evolutionary Tale.
It makes sense that similar animals would converge toward the same evolutionary path given similar (or in this case identical) environments. Even animals as genetically distant as sharks and dolphins have converged toward strikingly similar phenotypes on account of competing for similar niches on the same environment.
Excellent. Hope you do some more along this line.
I have to say that I knew what was coming just from reading the title. No, I never saw any of the click-bait pages talking about this.
Pretty nice video, though.
I think your presentation style is so good that you could make videos about any topic and I would still watch them
extremely interesting coverage of this little known but amazing species
I find this to be a complementary addition to your other content.
Enjoyed it very much
i like short educational videos like this
I only knew about this bird because of a friend having two Aldabra tortoises, and I looked up if they were a subspecies of Galápagos giant tortoise. Found out about the island of Aldabra and how it's famous for having a bird that went extinct only to re-evolve thousands of years later. Kinda forgot about it until I saw this video in my feed.
I like the Hyenodont skull
Thanks a lot
Honestly, I'll watch anything you make - it's all interesting, Don't make another channel - just create playlists in this one and save yoursself some work!
Epic cheese
Iterative Evolution could explain artificial artefacts that are millions of years old, humans have evolved and gone extinct many times.
Adding information to the dna of undomesticated animals changes them into new species
Holy shit
NO! the mix is the magic no no nono no no no
Re-submerging? Or re-emerging? 5:45
I meant to say re-emerging
1 u 1 channel
Change ✓ evolution ×
Even Darwin told us evolution is a lie. I unsubbed
?????

Has to be a troll Noone can be that dumb
I’d rather be labeled a reactionary than have monkey ancestry like you
Source or you're lying.
