  • Diesel Mercedes Sprinter 2.1 Boost Leak
    In this video I have a 2016 2.1 Sprinter with complaint of intermittent loss of power and check engine light. Scanned for codes P0299 turbo underboost and an EGR delayed reaction code. I will walk you through the process of testing for this boost leak and walk you through the repair to fix this very common issue.

    U worked harder then needed. Take master cylinder off. Set it aside. Remove the brake booster comes out really easy. And instead of separating the EGR cooler, take the EGR cooler off in one piece you’ll save a bunch of time

    Very detail video. Thank you for the information. I have 2016 sprinter 2.1L. Do you know if the egr valve can cause vibration for the engine?

      Thank you. I am not sure that it can cause vibration, however the describing word could be misinterpreted by another symptom. Thank you for watching.

    Take cooler and egr valve and elbow off as one saves so much time I leave fuel filter connected I’ve done them in about 21/2 hours all done 👍

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  6 місяців тому +1

      I have seen all kinds of mileage. As far as why I think it is just a design flaw personally. Idling a lot for diesels is not good plus add EGR in there and recipe for disaster. Thanks for watching.

    GREAT video! thank you for the effort. I have 2015 2.1 and while this problem hasn't come up yet...wondering what an average repair cost and time spent is for this sort of thing? If I did it myself, I'd like to estimate how much I'm looking at for parts roughly and the time it took you (because I'll double the time for myself!)
    Thanks again!

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  10 місяців тому

      I am not sure what the cost is, I do not see the dollar part of any bill only the tech pay sheet. It is super difficult to look this up too, Mercedes makes things very difficult. Unfortunately it is a expensive because you have to replace a bunch of parts instead of gaskets. Message me on Instagram if you need more help. Thanks for watching.

      @cransaftvalve734 if you have access it's best reset ask adaptive but as long as you clear the codes I would imagine it would adjust itself. I've never done it without testing adaptive though.

    Do you need to purge or bleed the cooling system ?.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  6 місяців тому +1

      Well you should fill it with a vacuum refiller. If you don't have one run it with cap off coolant bottle heater on high and may have to run at 2000 rpms to get coolant flowing, one you have not heat let idle. As long as heat is still hot put cap on and drive. If after 2000 rpms and going back to idle if heat gets cool keep running it still has air in it.
