- Squid or Calamari? that is the question, Why are some Squid and other Calamari. Is it a species thing or is it food related? if you know the answer let us know in the comments.
In this video we go EGI fishing for winter squid. employing a more EGI fishing approach to these squid generally promotes aggressive bites over the normal lift drop approach i see most people doing on the squid locally.
Nice man. I've been having a tough time getting on to them this year. Perhaps I have to work more on my EGI technique. Always end up with line tangles if I try whipping too hard, LOL. Looks like you got it sussed out. I guess using a proper EGI rod helps a lot. The video was also fun to watch, well done.
A proper egi rod makes all the difference and also you feel the takes too. Love targeting them 🙌

great video, does your drag have to be that loose? I usually have mine tight.
When your flicking egi style and a squid grabs it. A tight drag will pull out of the squid. But with a loose drag you can whip fast and the lure darts fast but doesn’t move as far. Just quickly and short if you get what I mean

The big ones can pull a bit. But their availability and eagerness to hit a lure makes them a great target
I caught some from the kayak recently and didn't have a net so I just pulled them into the foot well. Since there was water in the foot well they went crazy and pumped ink everywhere lol.
