Aggressive and contact are two different things. I like SVG and the Mark Martin approach. Even Schrader. I like racing. I like to see who can win. I don’t care for - actually I strongly dislike!- wrecking and pushing to get into first place. If you can’t drive it or the car can’t get first then so be it. I actually hated DaleSr’s driving style a lot of the time, and a few others. I wanna see a race, not a bully elimination pissing match where the supposed winner happens by accrual.
its hard to pass ! SVG " hold my beer 🤣 SVG will bump and run all day, he made gaps all the time in Supercars, but he wont wreck on purpose, so really he is perfect for what Dale is talking about , controlled aggression, with a good outcome.
I remember a few years ago when drivers were tearing the cars so bad that the owners got together and set a rule that if a driver purposely tore a car up that the drivers had to pay for the repairs on the cars. Because of that the amount of wrecked cars and the amount of damage dropped dramatically. My suggestion is to implement those directives again.
I know Jr doesn’t like to say anything bad about NASCAR, but it makes this show less than DBC or Denny, who are just more honest. Jr hates to hear that the cars can’t pass, but ffs, think about how stupid that is, race cars…that can’t pass. It’s a problem. Acting like it isn’t won’t help anything.
The only problem with those rubbing at the end is: Nascar hired that security guard that doesn’t allow drivers to fight anymore so there’s no way to make yourself respected again. And if you retaliate on track you can be suspended, so… Let’em fight!!!!
If a team can put their car back out on the track safely, they should be able to do so at any point, even on lap 499. The more NASCAR "manages" things, on the track, the worse things get.
It was a drivers race. The dry conditions with no rain for a few weeks led to dirty conditions. Great ! What a exiting day. The racing line was anywhere between the guard rails.
Why is it that if you flatten tires in a wreck and you need to be towed to pit road, you get to work on the car? If it is going to be the same across the board, the way it should be, if you cannot drive to the pits under your own power then your race is over.
I would love to mention 1 thing about the Blaney complaint. I happen 1 race that jr. raced in his first winston cup race at Darlington. His car was messed up, drove horribly and crashed and when he got out of the medic check, jr was ready to leave and tony jr. said get back in and drive. Jr said it was so bad. Turns out it was a bad drive train.
Only thing that i really hated about the Glen race was the stage cautions, those need to be REMOVED already ! Keep stages but remove those stupid stage breaks that ruin what could be interesting strategies.
It is such a shame, coming from not only a former driver but a current team owner, that we are saying from a fans perspective that this level of aggression is fun to watch and exciting. I like this podcast but its getting to a point where we cant keep letting the voices of our motorsport get away with not keeping nascar accountable and we continue to praise this manufactured drama and talentless racing. We cant be okay with Harrison Burton having a shot at a championship and Chris Buescher/Bubba Wallace not. We cant be okay with Watkins Glen (which is also one of the bests tests of the skill on the entire schedule) turn into a bumper cars match with about 7-8 combined overtimes between the Xfinity and Cup races. And we definitely cannot be okay with hyping up the championship race in Phoenix knowing that not only could one guy wreck his 3 opponents, but a guy with multiple wins on the season could potentially lose a championship to a guy who has less top 5 than the other guy has wins. Its okay to hold people accountable, its okay to say this is bad and we need to change it and think of ways that we can change it for the better. Its so sad that we have Dale’s co-host (on the daytona review show) say that the playoff system is what it is and if you dont like it then oh well… as a lifelong Nascar it just breaks my heart to hear someone on a very well known podcast just say that so easily. Without the fans and drivers Nascar is nothing and the sooner we as a collective realize that, the sooner we can go back to having competitive races and real championships worth racing for.

Well especially now too that toe-links are so fragile these days. I think maybe extend the damage clock and get rid of the towed back requirement.

The 12 car had some issue but the team didnt know if it was nothing like a rock stuck in steering again or is it broken. they didnt get to look at it on pit row. That should be requested by the team and Nascar decide realtime.
I thought the whole reason they did the repave the way they did at Phenix, and flop the start/finish, was because they started running the dogleg like that when it was the backstretch?
Just a fan , in terms of the Blaney situation , why not just say you have unlimited time to repair your car. No crash clock. However, if any debris or anything from your damaged vehicle obstructs any part of the race, you automatically finish last and/or are docked points, for example? If there's a penalty in terms of points, may make crew chiefs think twice before trying to put a piece of crap back on the track. Just a thought
