In 2011, Prolight Laser Harp Controller won an ILDA Fenning Award for Technical Achievement which makes this Laser Harp the only one in the World to receive such recognition from the leading laser companies association -- ILDA (International Laser Display Association).
Prolight Laser Harp Controller is the latest and greatest product from Prolight that will turn your laser projector into a powerful frameless full color laser harp. It creates a one-of-a-kind, virtual light harp of impressive size that employs multi-colored laser beams instead of strings. Just like a real instrument, when you play it, by blocking laser beams, it makes sounds. What really happens is when the sensor detects blocked laser beam it sends a signal to the Laser Harp Controller which, in turn, sends a MIDI signal to the synthesizer, sampler or a PC sound card and they are responsible for playing the desired sound according to the information received.
Great advantages of Prolight Laser Harp Controller (LH1 Controller) are its adaptability and versatility. It can be programmed to trigger any type of audio or video event, any visual image, sound or music, special effect or even pyrotechnics. Combined with Pangolin Live PRO, Pangolin Quickshow or Phoenix 4 Live software the Laser Harp Controller can be used to play selected laser show cues and effects by blocking laser beams like a true Laser Jockey! It can trigger synthesizers, PC samplers, DJ software or any other kind of MIDI controlled device.
The Prolight Laser Harp Controller is ILDA-Compatible which means that it has a classic ILDA connector that can be connected to any standard ILDA compatible laser projector.
IMPORTANT: Prolight Laser Harp Controller does not include a built-in laser projector. It is a MIDI controller box with a sensor unit. It requires an ILDA-Compatible laser projector to operate.
Since Prolight Laser Harp Controller does not come with a built-in laser projector, you are free to choose your own laser setup for every performance, whether you need a less powerful laser projector for indoor events or high-powered laser for open air performances. It can be used with monochrome lasers or full color lasers, as well.

I think if the height at which you cut your hand into a given beam were used as an additional degree of freedom this instrument could become considerably more awesome. You could place your hand on one string, and then by moving it up slowly, give the effect of pitch modulation (or move it up and down for something like finger vibrato).

Is it just note on/off? Or is the capability for modulation or velocity by varying the height at which the hand interrupts the beam and moves thereafter?

I'm surprised you've not complained about 6 string guitars.

Lol that's it isn't it? Boring 12 tones but wouldn't know how to play a flute :)
This is great and I wish I could own one!

I just watched it again. The players are so bad they actually make the instrument look hard to play. It will probably turn off some potential customers. Some decent musicians would really help to sell this thing.

They messed up the cover of Jarre's Rendez-Vous 2 sequence. But, never mind, here is Jean Michel Jarre in 1986 playing the original laser harp. ua-cam.com/video/pc838yqA8Uc/v-deo.html

@xyFAILxy You can change midi banks so you have much more than 12 tones. BTW For famous Jarre 9 beams is enough and you are complaining on 12 ?! :)

cool idea, but these musicians should invest some time actually learning to play this. some of them really have no timing.

They are playing out of time really badly, especially the rave guy at the start he's just so badly off time for dance music. That lady can play better but she's got no stage presence. Neither does the guy in the tron suit.
If you want to loan me a used demo model for a couple months I'll use it to control my analog gear, and bring it on stage with my band. I'll send you some videos that will blow away all these people.

just boring. Who needs a laser harp, which has only 12 "strings"=12 tones?
