Indonesia Raya was created by W.R. Suparuman in 28 October 1928 ,during the 2nd Youth Summit......
So the song is not just an anthem , but it has a lot of history and meanings......
Indonesia has been colonized for hundreds of years by various countries in Europe, especially the Netherlands. Indonesia gained independence not through peace negotiations but through various battles, even after Indonesia became independent there were still battles because the Dutch still wanted to colonize. Indonesia was a dutch colony for 350 years, then Japan came in 1942, defeated the Dutch. Then after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese helped the nationalist to proclaim Indonesian Independence. 17 August 1945 Indonesian Independence was proclaimed. The Dutch backed by Allied mainly England try to retrieved their colony but failed. In 1962 Indonesia able to retrieved all Dutch possessions in the archipelago after the arm struggles as Indonesian suddenly became a beast with support from the USSR in terms of war equipment and the Dutch inflicted by heavy US imposed sanctions the Dutch finally gave up.

The history of Indonesia was colonized by many countries because of its natural wealth. In the past, Indonesian citizens were able to repel colonialism with makeshift means of war, how about the strength of their army?It should not be underestimated because all Indonesian citizens are not afraid to die for the sake of dividing their beloved country and the ranking of the strength of Indonesia's armaments is at number 13 in the world
i can sing many national anthems, but indonesian national anthem feels so special for me. there are at least 3 kind of national anthem in my opinion: 1) anthem that glorify the nation and bring spirit (i.e france, turkiye, israel anthem), 2) anthem that shows the beauty of the country (i.e iceland, wales, england national anthem), and 3) anthem that brings joy to the people and share the good news, sort of independency feeling etc (brazil, poland, saudi arabia national anthem). but for me, there are 2 national anthem that combine three of them, those are indonesian and russian national anthem

The song "Indonesia Raya" is the national anthem of Indonesia.
This song became one of the birth points of the nationalist movement throughout the archipelago which supported the idea of a single "Indonesia" as the successor to the Dutch East Indies, rather than being split into several colonies.
This song was composed by Wage Rudolf Supratman in 1924 and introduced to the public on October 28, 1928 at the 2nd Youth Congress in Batavia (Jakarta).
The original lyrics of the song Indonesia Raya consist of 3 stanzas (stanza = verse)
After several changes (which we hear until now), the song "Indonesia Raya" only consists of one stanza.
The Indonesia Raya song was played during the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence ceremony, after the reading of the text of the Proclamation by the First President of Indonesia, Ir. Sukarno.
Its legality as the national anthem was further confirmed by the enactment of the second amendment to the 1945 Constitution which included the point "The National Anthem is Indonesia Raya" in article 36B and also the ratification of Law (UU) No. 24 of 2009.
Usage:
1) The Indonesia Raya anthem is always played and sung at flag ceremonies, namely when the Red and White flag is raised and lowered; especially at the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony on August 17, 1945 every year.
2) In an official event held by the Government
3) In the opening ceremony of the plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the People's Representative Council (DPR), the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD)
4) To honor Heads of State or Heads of Government of friendly countries during official visits to Indonesia
5) In international sporting events or activities
6) In an international Science, Technology and Art event or competition held in Indonesia
7) The Indonesia Raya anthem must also be played every day on every television and radio station in Indonesia before the television and radio stations go on the air.

Indonesia build from a thousand of culture, language and multi etnis whic is are heritage from the elder. Comonly the genesis of Indonesia are traditional kingdome at the old time. There are so many kingdome in here before they colapse.. Then after a long time no more kingdome here, people stand alone acording they etnic and religion. Long short story... When in 1945 after an Japan ocupancy defeat by US dan The Allies we declare our Freedom... But actualy in 1928 there are Youth Movement that called Sumpah Pemuda... Meaning All people who live in Nusantara only use a Bahasa Indonesia as formal language to comunicate each other. No mather what you etnic or came from. But use a etnic language to speak in daily are not forbiden... So mostly Indonesian Cituzen speaking in 2 language. Bahasa Indonesia in formal situation or talking with other etnic. Secondly speaking in their mother language which mean an etnic speaking. So if you meet someone who speak with a lot of bahasa in Indonesia don't be surprised... Coz here there are 700 diffirent language. In one country Indonesia. But we use Bahasa Indonesia for all solutions...
