I'm def on Tresor' team today.
Our community is so big but our mindset is very limited.
Support does not always mean money. It's important to understand that every business ain't free and if you wanna run one you gotta put in the work and accept CRITICS. From sleepless nights to investing your own money etc(..) CONGO WE ARE TALENTED, WE WILL GET THERE.
I always value every costumer, and I get so happy when Congolese ppl support mine, because we def are hard on each other, FOR NO REASON.
LOOK Around and pay attention on how Chinese ppl never eat at Chinese restaurants but never TALK bad about it,
    Love.

It's a sad thing but it is not a Congolese problem, it is a problem we have in the entire Black community. Think about the Carribeans, they have been in this country longer than us yet they are still unable to organise themselves.
This is a real issue in the Black community and I wish Solola Bien could have explored it in more depth.

Lol that’s hurt but it’s true, congolese business owners have that tendency to think they a untouchable just because they successful for a couple year, most of the time they still struggling a lil bit, but having the feeling being the boss make them loose their mind. That’s insane when billionaire owners like Walmart always try to keep the less expensive client. We have the tendency to neglected the less expensive one but we re not millionaire even half millionnaire in bank account. Lol

Gladys, my favourite .. slight correction; Congolese people actually came to Europe and settled in Europe before most African countries however, they just concentrated on getting benefits and not getting involved. Prior to 2010 most western African countries only came to study and go back to their countries; but they did invest in Europe; by buying properties here ., a lot of them teach their kids about financial expenditures and the need to have a good credit score, invest in the community etc

I know west africans who are now 3rd and 4th generation in the UK but I don't know if Congolese people were already in Belgium and France in the 30s. Either way, the Congolese people who arrived in the 50s 60s and 70s are very different then the ones who arrived after. Those who arrived in the 80s arrived by dubious means mostly, and they also came from different environment, they were just running away from Zaïre without any other plans, so getting out was the only goal. Whereas those who arrived early came to study, they got degrees, they integrated the societies.

@@akalkila2769 thanks for your reply; I’m talking in terms of us willing leaving our countries to come and seek asylum; not to come work for European countries. Congolese people migrated due to our social economic and/or the thought of a better life but west African were sought after for their duties to the Kingdom., before they also joined on the movement of seeking asylum and even until now most of them; would rather be offered a job after university before settling here in the U.K.

    • @charleneperry3670
      @charleneperry3670 3 роки тому +1

@@melize7035 I think it’s even worse for Congolese in Belgium and France; purely because their system doesn’t really allow foreigners to prosper.
My grandad came to Belgium in the the 60s/70s; studied and returned to Congo and gained work in politics.
However, Congolese arriving in Europe I believe after the 70s only came to get away from Mobutu’s regime and were most of those lacking in ambition, or just wanted to buy a land back home but not invest so much in Europe for the benefit of the future generations.
Fast forward to our generation, we are slowly waking up cause we’ve gone to uni and mixed with other culture and seen how they hustle and build themselves so we are trying our hardest to move away from the stereotype and leave legacy

My mother always say “Congolais/e could have a cure to cancer ,he will prefer to sit in the formula”
That’s to basically say we like unite . I do think there’s a little jealousy/ evil spirit in there they do not want you to progress and surpass them and as Frankos said because they have a lazy mindset they see that your work ethic doesn’t compare to their work ethic so they go into sabotage mode.
As my mum say “ why is it that they are never late to work ? , but tell them to be here at 6 they get there 8 or midnight”
They do that on purpose sometimes out of spite really
Clearly they have shown that they are capable of spending coins . They will go into a food such as Sainsbury’s and not debate in the price or have this mindset of I will grab it and pay you later I haven’t got money .
I do think it’s very sad we are a huge the amount of things we can accomplish if we United and supported our fellow Congolese, however that’s not to say that one must support a bad structured environment. I’ve been in barbershop and restaurants whereby I don’t even know if their hygiene meter will is one . Like I wonder if they are indeed following all the regulations . I do think Congolese people need to better ourselves with that because some restaurants I’ve been to in France and Brussels has made me feel hella uncomfortable with how packed and closes to proximity we all are or the lack of good presently skills from the waitress to the cleanliness of the place. I’m glad this topic was bought to I think everyone did great at pitching in and I do understand Trésor’ point sont Congolese don things out of spite there is a different between the review Gladis is referring to and the review Trésor refers to
He also made a valid point the amount of time I’ve cursed my network provider, but I look at all the great perks I do get sometimes from being with them I remain a customer . Same with my broadband sometimes it’s slow and I wonder why I’m still with them ,yet I’m still working with them . I think we tend to generalise one or two poorly constructed business and make it seem like all of them are like that
It’s kinda like what happened at Fally Ipupa’ concert with the whole Gare de Lyon in France those so called combattant do know the bad name they have inserted in Congolese Some French people will now forever view us as barbaric . Some business owners may not want to partner with our artist at the expense of their hard work been burnt . They think they only hurt Fally Ipupa they hurt a while generation of musicians because they will keep referring to the times xyz group burnt Gare de Lyon, fought females And man

Also, we really need to be careful with our limited mindset. Some businesses have the potential to reach and impact other communities, but we're so lacking in marketing skills, customer services, etc that we don't invest in the things that would make the business grow.
Quick story: One day, I went to a congolese restaurant (where you can dine-in and take out), and I was waiting for my food to be ready. Two caucasian men entered the restaurant, and they sat at a table, but no one was there to welcome them. Later, the waitress came and one of the men says: "Hi, it's our first time here. We want to try something new. Can we have the menu please?"
The restaurant didn't have a printed menu... So the waitress was just standing next to them saying : "... On a le ntaba.... le nsoso.... ehhh.... comment dire?... le pondu...."
The men were so confused because obviously they didn't know that ntaba = chèvre braiser, nsoso = poulet etc etc.... They thought it was completely ridiculous so they just left the restaurant, cuz let's be honest, what kind of restaurant can't even give a menu to their customers?... Anyways, the moral of the story: businesses' owners need to stop assuming that all of their customers will only be congolese people. They need to stop neglecting the simple things that will make their business be taken seriously.

    Hun...
I'll cut a long story short. Few years ago a friend 🇨🇩🇦🇴 of mine invited me 🇦🇴 and another friend 🇦🇴 to help a "mama"🇨🇩 who had a business in Finsbury park.🇬🇧 She didn't want to hire a Congolese people for whatever reasons. Anyway, we were extremely polite all way through. However, the amount of verbal abuse we received from congolese people were beyond a joke. What actually made us taking the decision of leaving the toxic environment was because in English and Portuguese (some speak) they would be nice and even smile but, in lingala OMG. I could not believe how someone could be so fake. They didn't know I understood every single word they said. Well, this is to say. Respect comes both ways. Respect it's something you earn. Customers also need to respect who's providing them services. First time watching this channel. Congratulations!🖤

I hear everything you have said, ever you guys ever thought about franchising a value chain and distribution management with Congolese community business. You also need a Chamber of Commerce, you already have Likelemba, but you need to adopt some of the Western structures and scientific processes.

Gladys is right we need to leave reviews that's the only way a company will change because they don't want to lose their business.

Really appreciate the talk , and everything. Congolese people specially young professional and businessman/women need to learn to collaborate share and refer. We do not trust each other and have that tendency to feel superior when we re successful or inferior when we re struggling. That takes us away We really need to change our mentality to be more successful as a community. Specifically in area off business and other high level work (such as finance, medicine , biotech , engineering, real estate, business analysis,...) i saw a lol of congolese people gave up to their dreams just because of the balobaki il parait ... all those assumptions without any proof. Life is hard wherever you go... not saying other jobs does not matter covid prouve that neglected jobs matter but us congoleses, we re not pursuing high level jobs, don’t do enough business, don’t collaborate enough, don’t help each other to succeed. We re next generation of the leader we gotta make some changes and improve a lot in those area. Our diapora is one of the biggest, in term of population but not enough represented in the highest level, we got to change our behaviour... still known for our styles fashion, music and party 🎉... not our brain 🧠 and sens of business. 😆 got to improve.

I dont agree with the other guy Reviews are very important. Even Tesco has reviews on Google..most establishments have reviews on Google.. just recently I received a bad service from Morrisons, I left a review on Google... Reviews are important for both businesses as well as customers...you as business owner you need to know that Customer is always right..so even if someone is being disrespectful to you..maintain your composure..lead by example. Be polite and calm even when disagreeing with them...you need to ensure that you get good reviews more than you get bad ones

I agree that we got to supports our community but customer service it’s very important. Depend on how you’re being treat as a customer if I get a good service with Indian than Congolese I will go to Indian next time than Congolese also must of stores or business owners are not open minded to receive comment or reviews from a Congolese. Very interesting and important topic. We definitely need to encourage our businesses more and more. However, I feel like some of these businesses don't have the "basics", such as customer service etc etc... Many of them have great ideas BUT If you're starting a business, PLEASE make sure that you get the necessary tools/knowledge/information about how to run a business, and make sure you form yourself and your team as well. It's true that most of our businesses are baby-businesses but there are so many ressources nowadays that can help you start and manage your business. Let's educate ourselves and help each other

This happens in all the communities, and especially in business. At the end of the day the Pareto 80/20 principle stipulates that you only need 20% of your customers to become loyal and repeat buyers to break-even. However, from my experience I seen a Congolese business that i questioned their service levels and quality saying to me, "yo oza Congolais ya ndenge nini?". Majority of Congolese business do not know due diligence and the processes in place to add value to your business. But trust me they are no way near the worst.

Ko kakola na monde ya business eza eloko ya normale, mais ba Congolais ba kakolaka te, balingi kaka biloko ofele. No respect for people business. I really think that having a business in a Congolese person mind is still degrading. I mean in the time of Mobutu most people were taking pride working in offices, having a business wasn't respected, I believe it's still the case. For Nigerian, having a business is a normal thing, igbos have been traders for decades, we not there yet.
