90’s Alternative is so amazing because they are first POETS, and put that to music.
I absolutely Love Adam Duritz!! The man is so freaking Beautiful and so Talented!! Such a Poet! He just seems to have an aura about him and you just want to be his friend/hang out with him. I always looked at this songs meaning as dealing with mental health issues. I know Adam has dealt with Depersonalization disorder. It's a dissociative disorder that causes sufferers to feel as though they are outside observers of themselves, disconnected from their physical bodies and no longer in control of their thoughts and actions. He made it public in 2008. He says it makes it difficult to write songs. I think it also makes amazing songs too. Adam is Legendary!! I wish him nothing but the best!!
Love "Anna Begins" by them
Hope we see a reaction to it at some point... beautiful song with complex lyrics
I agree, Anna Begins is another amazing song for that Album. Definitely up there. A Murder of One is also very good as well.
Anna Begins has hardly any reactions and yet it’s probably the best song in the album.
Even in the 90s, when they were famous, they were underrated. I think they only have 2 big hits, this one n Mr. Jones, I don't recall any other but I'm gonna listen to their album n see what other song is good, they have to have a few more good songs
Love that you love them. Counting Crows/Adam Duritz was always a perfect "middle" in all of the 90s music. Not the darkness grunge of Nirvana, not the strained emotionality of Alanis, not bubblegum pop either, because their music and lyrics always went an interesting different way. What their songs are about were never an easy grasp, while the music itself was very accessible ... all while never falling into the simple 4/4 of basic rock/pop. How do you write complex music that still sounds like pop? That was always their talent.
Adam has such a great voice, so distinctive.
Counting Crows and Rob Thomas toured together many years ago. You would have Loved it.
Great comment 👍. I saw Counting Crows touring with Matchbox 20 in 2017 near Chicago. You are so right it was an amazing experience.
This is my jam. I was in downtown Los Angeles when they filmed this classic.
This whole album is freakn sick, August and everything After: Rain King, Perfect blue buildings, Omaha, unreal.
I've always loved this song. This and Mr. Jones are my favorite of theirs.
You're reactions are great homes.
YESSS, my second favourite album of all time! Every song on here is a gem , every song they’ve ever made rlly is a gem. Love these reactions and would love to see more Crows!
I'm in agreement with you that the 90s was one of the best Era of music. My favorites are are 70s and 90s Thanks for telling me why you like the 90s because I could never put it into words. but I agree with you about the sound . just something about it. I also like the lyrics and theme that were written about in the 90s
Nobody can sing a song conveying as much feeling and emotion as Adam does. He sings like he's just talking to you.
I absolutely recommend watching the performance of this song on Howard Stern Show. Probably the best performance they had on there.
Saw them a few years back. Great band!
I am usually a country music and nothing else girl, but I LOVE counting crows
I am one of your Patreon Sponsors. Round Here is my favorite song, and I would like to request that you react to Round Here live :) I recommend their performance at Pinkpop 2000. They are something totally unique and mindblowing live, and I know you will enjoy it - and we would enjoy being part of it too.
I appreciate what you do so much. Blessings to you, Anton.
Agree live is better, they extend it, pink pop is a good choice but there are many good ones. Live at Atlantic City is good. They are all different
Counting Crows are awesome.
Anna begins, perfect blue buildings, catapult, I'm not sleeping, a long December, Sullivan Street
One of the many Cds i listen through non-stop!
Perfect Album
I watched their concert at Sun City in 1999 in South Africa…when they sang this, they added an extra verse…it was packed, and no one made a sound. It was magical. A perfect moment in time…Adam was an AMAZING performer, his stage presence was incredible…he spoke intimately in between each song, and pulled us all in. I know every word still. Just beautiful! ❤
I'm about to be 43, born in 1980. I miss 90's music so much, of all genres, great time for music. Got to enjoy this as a teenager!

10 solid models for the VH1/Adult Alternative Rock/Jangle Pop Vibe that those guys were doing.
***N.B.: I'm purposely leaving out Dave Matthews Band (album: Under the Table and Dreaming), because I can't stand their vibe, nor their fans who have to talk about seeing 'Dave' for the 20 hundredth time.
****Bonus: But to submit a quality international addition, happy to include Barenaked Ladies (album: Rock Spectacle) to the essentials list above. So many great tunes amongst the lot.
You have to listen to *Anna Begins* please, probably the best song in the album and one of the least requested.
90s... Such an amazing time to grow up for music!
You would love -Collective Soul- "Shine," "Where the river flows," "December," "The world I know," "Gel" and so on are great. I know you would love it!
Lyrically, Palisades Park by Counting Crows is amazing, I would love to see a reaction to that. Awesome man!
So many amazing songs by the Counting Crows. Recovering the Satellites is a very underrated one by them.
It's definitely a coming of age song. The only thing I can think of when he says the _girl in the car in the parking lot....looks up at the building, says she's thinkin' of jumping"_ is he said the song was about himself. Lol, k, see if you follow me here...clothes come off, the protective walls of youth fall away, and it's him looking up at the building wondering if he is ready to take the leap into adulthood because he is tired of being a kid. He's tired of being sent to bed early. He's tired of being told to wait etc etc.. Just a thought.

This is by far my favorite band. I’ve seen them live a lot and have heard all of these songs hundreds of times. It’s hard to go wrong with the Crows
Can i recommend "Cover Up The Sun" from one of their later albums
I was really hoping you would listen to the storytellers version. It’s amazing.
Of course mr jones is the most classic counting crows song and I loveeee it but round here will always be my all time favourite. The emotion in the song and lyrics is next level
Very van Morrison esk
You should react to Mariah Carey - Lead The Way.....
Mindblowing vocal ability
Lyrics… they make me sad
Why does this depress me?
Because it is about depression. It's about Break up, mental illness, distress
