I love how these two interact with each other...such humility, mutual respect, honor, and enjoyment of each other!! Thank you for taking the time to share this!!
Bill says the bible does not state that prophets and apostles are foundational to the church and are not in operation today. Just curious about Ephesians 2:19-2 speaking about the church being built upon Apostles foundation with Christ as cornerstone: "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord." To me, it looks like Paul is defining these offices are particular to church foundation. The foundation has already been laid.
Show me the scripture that shows the foundation has been laid forever? Because Paul states in 1 Corinthians 3:10,11 that he laid A foundation and that no other foundation can be laid besides that which is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the foundation and the only foundation that can be laid upon. He never said that he laid the only foundation and that it was done being laid. He only said that he laid A foundation. An Apostle is one who is sent by God. Apostles today I believe are sent by God to establish the church and build the foundation of a local church. It’s not about a title but about serving and bringing the glory of God to earth through Jesus as the foundation. To ensure that the church is built upon Jesus and Jesus alone. He also doesn’t state in Ephesians 2:19-20 that it has ceased operating. He just simply states that that is what the foundation is built upon. If you don’t have apostles and prophets in your church then you don’t have a foundation because apostles establish the foundation of Jesus, as well as prophets according to this scripture. No where does it say that they are no longer present… I also believe there is a distinction between the original Apostles who saw the resurrected Christ and Apostles in todays church. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t still present.
Thank u pastors for sharing such precious views. I’m starting to understand why I get mad at some sermons sometimes. The sermon is not a problem, but each of the fivefold ministries will see church and situations differently. That’s all. And we need the five of them united, together, to bring heaven to earth.
ABSOLUTELY NOT. There are specific qualifications for being an Apostle, i.e. personally interacting with the risen Lord and Bill fits none of them. “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’” Jeremiah 23:16-17 (ESV)
Why do people come here and listen to long conversations like this just to pick on the Pastor or the church? Like, just go live your life right? Why are you even here?

I personally believe continuing to refer to people by the title “apostle” given the current climate of the church (at least in America), will prove to be more hurtful than helpful. Not that I am denying the gifting of an apostle, but using the title without clear distinction - within the English language, that is - from the original Apostles of Jesus only will continue to leave people confused and either rejecting people who go by that title (with or without humility), or will by default elevate them to a status and a place of positional honor up alongside that of or close to the Apostles, though they ought not be revered in a such a way. I appreciated this video, but I would love to see more conversation about the language we use and how it affects our brothers and sisters, not to mention the lost. Saying someone, who is likely a pastor, has an “apostolic gifting” on their life, and then explaining what that means in practicality, rather than using the title outright just seems to prove more helpful. Also, I respect Bill’s sentiment in there not being a hierarchy, but as long as we use these titles, people will inevitably see it as such. All love and respect to my brothers and the leadership at Bethel. As well I’m open to discussion here.
Honestly, I think that people now days idolize the original apostles to be something more than they were. I mean, look at the letters of Paul. There is no level 2 Christian and the very same Holy Spirit that lives in Peter, Paul, and the others lives in the believer that just confessed their life to the Lord 32 seconds ago. It isn't the man because God isn't a respecter of persons and the original apostles had no inherent special gift and the only reason they could do what they did is Christ living through them, it was God doing these things in mere men not super men.
It would be good to actually address biblically exposited views that the office of the Apostle has ceased, or at least appear to be aware of it, from the authority of scripture. This series hasn't really cleared up misconceptions from what I can tell, but seems to just restate your views with no real rebutle. It makes you appear as if you're not really interested in the authority of scripture if you fail to engage with the tougher questions put forth by other leaders in the wider body of Christ. Yet this is exactly what the actual Apostles spent a lot of their time doing - correcting bad teachings from the scriptures (even each other!). Have on brothers in Christ whom disagree with you from a scriptural basis, someone like Costi Hinn, Justin Peters or even John Macarthur. This would seem to me to be following in the Apostles footsteps for a series addressing "common questions and misconceptions".
It would be good to present a scripture in support of your "biblically exposited view". If the office of the Apostle "has ceased" then it can only mean "we all" have arrived unto the stature of the fulness of Christ. The fact that you are calling for a debate with your "other leaders" indicates our need in this present time for the ministry of Apostles, Pastors, Prophets , Evangelists and Teachers. There are no big “A”, apostles alive today. In other words Apostles that can write scripture. Not happening. There are small “a” apostles who are sent ones who have a calling to plant churches. They always use scripture to do this and build and plant churches. They build on the foundation. The gifts have not ceased, they are in God’s sovereign control. So God will make prophecy or tongues rare as He wills. We should be ok if we don’t see a particular gift because it’s not up to us. We don’t have to worry about that. We cannot teach them, they are given as God wills. All we have to do is keep Christ the center & submit to the sufficiency & authority of scripture. The Bible is the foundation laid by the Apostles & Prophets. We are not laying new foundations today. We go wrong when we idolize miracles and insist that there must be miracles. What we must insist on is that Jesus is the center & that scripture is how we discern and build. The Holy Spirit wrote the Bible and will never contradict the Bible. It’s always Holy Spirit & word, never the one against the other, or the one in favor of the other.

@Dean Agnor I'm not sure which verse or passage you're referring to. Paul often defended his apostleship because others didn't consider him one or tried to discredit it.
Beautiful!
I don't know what you would call him? One of the best teacher preacher I have ever seen... I believe Jesus would say the same thing!!! He knows it too and he is not arrogant about it, he is just pastor Bill. I have been praying for God to give me some of this wisdom Isaiah 11:2
Doesn’t Apostle mean that you have seen Jesus or am I wrong
Apostle is a 'sender' - or a 'sent one'.
I love you ALL so very much
🤟♾️🌈
4:17 “Explain how you let people call you that?”
This conversation is not very thoughtful in its beginning when that odd question is posed to Bill Johnson, a self-proclaimed apostle. Why was the interviewer so tentative, even unsure about this whole subject of ‘apostle’ the title given to Bill Johnson?-he admits he’s “uncomfortable” with that title, but not with the title “pastor”... Something just doesn’t ring true here...
/Lonewolf Liberties
NAR...another label that Satan can persecute.
I've been wondering for about 8 years 😆🤣
Keep wondering... because Bill Johnson couldn't even convince himself in this video that he is a prophet.
/And so it goes...
He is. I’d like to hear more about being a servant than a leader
I receive a lot about that from Sunday’s sermons. Be very blessed
The Apostle is both leader and servant and first in both
This is just nonsense. They are building a kingdom of man.
How do,you get that ?
@@1CarrieRoberts wow, that’s a judgemental statement……
They never read chunks of scripture in one go. Verse here and there out of context
An Apostle is someone who saw the risen christ, which no one living to has seen.
Just curious but is that what the Scriptures say or does this come from human understanding? Not imply but explicitly say?
What about Paul?
@@rabitrouh Right. Paul was blinded by the light when he met the Lord so how could he physically see him??? However, the NLT version translates the greek word horao as seen in Acts 9:27 & 1 Cor 9:1 which can mean to see, look upon, experience, perceive, discern, beware. In addition, Barnabas, Silas, and others were apostles but no mention of them seeing the Lord is mentioned in Scripture.
@Dean Agnor Paul was defending his calling and establishing that he was just as much an apostle as Peter, James, John, and the others. Paul never needed to establish himself as he was already established by Christ Himself.
@Dean Agnor I'm not sure which verse or passage you're referring to. Paul often defended his apostleship because others didn't consider him one or tried to discredit it. His words in 1 Corinthians 9 defends his authority or rights AS an apostle; not him trying to establish himself as an apostle. He had to do the same thing in 2 Cor 10-12 in response to false apostles. I would like to take a look at the context for what you're referring to, sir.
Your not an apostel!👎👎👎
Answer to Titel: NO!
No BJ is not a prophet! He fails to understand the revelation of the mystery that was given by Christ to Paul the apostal to the Gentiles.
By the end of this interview, I was convinced that Bill Johnson should have been on the right-hand mic and the Dean should have been on the left-hand mic, and Bill Johnson should have asked the Dean, “What are the marks of MY apostleship?” ... Honestly, this interview was backwards and a waste of broadcast time, because I still don’t know what makes Bill Johnson an “apostle”...
/Lonewolf Liberties
Both are false teachers. There, I fixed it for you.
@@WilliamtheWorst --Here's the thing: Had Bill Johnson given a Scripturally valid reason for his 'apostleship' on this public forum, I might have taken him seriously. As it is, I'm as unconvinced as both Bill and Danny are; (by the way, I love your handle)...

@@GeoCalifornian good point, and thank you.
No he's not
You mean APOSTATE
Do apostles exist in your opinion?
He'd prefer that you call him "Bill" .
This comment should be at the top
Stop responding to other people's hate videos. And let the Lord defend you. Jesus never defended Himself when He was accused. It gives people the right to judge you.
No
No.
5:41 The interviewer cannot even ask Bill Johnson point-blank “what are the marks of YOUR apostleship?” He dances around the question and is afraid to even ask the direct query to his own superior! ... I don’t believe either man in that room really believes Bill Johnson is an “apostle”... This is not the way to conduct this interview...
/Life Coaches, pay attention.
While I agree with you that this was not the best way to conduct this interview, and Bill probably should have turned the question around, it seems clear to me Bill does believe he is called as an apostle, and Dann does also. They are just being way too humble here and so indirect, that only insiders see the confirmation. Dann doesn't "directly" ask the question because to him, he doesn't need to. They think they're being strong enough as is. But he is not afraid.
@Dean Agnor --With his fruitless title 'apostle' Bill Johnson 'prophesied' over, and accepted Todd Bentley into the "office" of prophet, and even co-ordained him in public with Peter Wagner and other "apostles" and "prophets" in Florida ... this is a matter of public record.
... But Todd Bentley was already failing right under their noses, and 'apostle' Bill Johnson has not so much as retracted his false "prophetic" utterances given to Todd Bentley on that day or offered an explanation to his followers.
... Current events teach that the modern day "apostle" or "prophet" is merely an example of gross egocentrism. And so it goes...

@@djunk747 --"Only insiders see the confirmation"? Very odd.
... Then what is the point of this public UA-cam video?
... It was put out for public consumption. But only insiders know what it means?
/Life Coaches, pay attention.
Unfortunately the future prophecies that have come from bethel have been 100% wrong so it makes you wonder if the gift is for today. And the apostolic structures that have come from bethel have brought more embarrassment and Shame on the church than anything. Bethel your track record sucks
They said the same about OT prophets and killed them. They turned out to be right in the end. Jussayin
Yo bill why don’t you grab gandolfs staff again you gay wizard lol
