The Phantasm movie/series was indexed in Germany until 2017, why??? But splatter and gore like Saw and similiar crap are on prime time TV 🤷‍♀Altho I can remember I saw rented versions in the early 90's or so. I wonder when they actually put it on index. at least they stopped the sequels at some point. Unlike Halloween, they keep getting worse and the remakes were totally boring. But I fall for it every time and give it a try. I'm always disappointed afterwards. The last one that was reasonably entertaining was Resurrection 2002 imo. But the only ones I really liked were the Original and H20. Maniac Cop I have seen back then too, but I don't remember anymore. Hellraiser I remember a bit 🤔Watched too many horror movies back in those days. The original Suspiria is interesting too. I don't know the remake.

Back in the older days, they knew how to make horror, and music is a huge factor in my opinion for the tone of the whole atmosphere of a scary movie. Today horror movies get some corporate commercial rock band to play the theme music, and it completely takes away from any kind of sense of foreboding on weather to go through with watching the movie, because you're not sure if you will be able to handle it, or take a chance and be haunted for years to come! Actually, one of the main things I remember from any horror films that really would make a movie stand out, was the music, and sound affects!

I can pretty comfortably say that Phantasm is in my top 3 favorite horror movies of all time, possibly even #1. When I first saw the movie I completely despised of it and thought it was nothing but stupid the whole way through, but there was one thing I couldn't deny I loved, and that was the theme. I found myself listening to the theme through this video constantly which caused me to think about the MOVIE constantly. As I thought about the movie more and more I became obsessed with the film and was trying to figure out what everything in the movie meant and as I developed these ideas I started to love the movie more and more. Today, I do think the film is a masterpiece and one of the most notoriously misunderstood films in cinematic history and I essentially owe my love of the film to the theme song, it IS the greatest horror movie soundtrack of all time to me, Halloween? Pfff, nothing compared to Phantasm. I am so grateful for this film, I truly am.

The best parts of Phantasm were the silly parts. What made it good was that the silly didn't overshadow the horror. That "finger-turning-into-space-bug" scene was funny as hell.

In 96 I was terrified into this movie. Was a late night staying with my Grandma I was 6... Alone in a Giant house. Oldschool like 2foot thick big screen tv. Grandma threw on Never Ending story. Well, didn't pay attention and this masterpiece came on while she was up stairs closing up for the night... I was so freaked out I couldn't look away. I went to bed and said nothing. Terrified I didn't sleep. Forever a part of my life I'll never forget . I revisited all this as of this week. I'm 30 now. :) Can't wait to re-watch it for the first time since.

Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave did something nobody else could with this score...they did an imitation of "THE EXORCIST'S" theme, which was very popular, but instead of downright copying it, they wrote something new, original, chilling and completely unforgettable. I wore this track out when I owned it on vinyl back in the day.
