Angeline the Baker - Clawhammer banjo (string missing)

As I was tuning up to record this, the second string snapped. Nyl-gut strings take so long to settle after being replaced, so I decided to go ahead and record anyway.
So here's Angeline the Baker in gCG-C tuning, with guitar playing the accompaniment.

Hey Bob, Im torn between starting Irish banjo and claw hammer, in your opinion , what’s easier for a beginner?

I would say go with the one that allows you to play the music you want to play. That said, if you can read tab, there's a whole world of mandolin tab that will get you going on the tenor banjo very quickly. With clawhammer, it will take a while to get the basic technique down, but then it's a small progression to playing impressive-sounding solo tunes. Hope this helps.
