Lov you guys
Thanks love y’all too
Cool advice
Thanks
I'm in zone 9 and we are still able to plant determinate tomatoes. I started 120 of your seeds, yesterday. 😊 So far, all of the seeds that I have gotten from you are awesome!
Happy to hear it, KP!
Best germination rate. Better than MIgardner and Baker Creek.
My roselles are doing good because of Mrs. Thank you!!! Thanks for sharing all the information. You're appreciated!!!
You are so welcome
Indiana just changed southern Indiana into Zones 5a and 5b because the last 2 years the cold weather hung around longer than normal. I didn't pay much attention last year because I was in a transition period and couldn't plant anything but this year, for me, it was noticeable because I couldn't put anything out until late April. It was an eye-opener for me.
Interesting Nancy
Hey, y'all! Time to get dirty here in Zone 8b! I'll be starting my brassicas in the morning!
Exciting.
Carol , isn’t it too early for Brassicas on zone 8b.?. Temp is still 95 degrees Average.
8b for me too, getting it started too
I love my hoss tool seeds.....enjoy watching and learning thanks
Thanks for watching Mary.
Thank y’all for a great video and for the great information
Thanks for watching!
This reminds me the first time I grew brussel sprouts I gave up on them and pulled them up and threw them in the woods thinking they weren't gonna produce. I went back in the woods a month or two later for whatever reason and they were growing little sprouts with what dirt that was left on the roots! Lol.
So true. Have given up many times and then boom, they show up.
Same here.
Done got my brocolli, canbage in my raised beds. Mustard greens, collards, turnips direct sowed already up 3 rows. Cover croping some clover and sunflower in a couple days. Okra still putting out pretty heavy and peppers even some late squash and cucumbers. Saving some raised beds for my spinach and kale.Been a great year. Thank you Jesus
We love to hear stories like this.
I started my tries today in zone7
Good luck.
Love y'all. 6b Idaho. Blessings, julie
Thank you Julie
I'm going to get those strawberry plants you're offering. I'm excited about that
You will not be disappointed.
Awesome episode thanks y’all
Thanks for watching.
Don't apologise for restricted delivery. UK here, but I still watch, yet couldn't do and buying plants. If I was closer, I sure would have. The tips and advice are enough for me. Nice for those you can help.
No worries!
Love yall. And may God bless yall. Thank you for all you do for us all
Thanks for being a part of us and God bless you too.
Time to start my seeds.. I was excited about the strawberries...Texas not included 😣. Oh well. I will research if available somewhere for fall. If not I guess it will be spring. Ya'll Stay Safe and God Bless.
Thanks for joining us tonight.
I used your perlite trick when I direct-sowed carrots last week, and I had the best and fastest carrot germination ever! I've tried covering them with a board (to keep them moist) before, but that just gives pillbugs a hiding place to feast on the seeds. Thank you!
Great job!
I liked this show.... yall kept it fun.... keep on keeping on!
thanks for your support.
I would not have thought of jalapeño and pecans, but that does sound awesome and with the cream cheese. Thank you for talking about us 8-5 ers. That would be my issue. I will have to message my son throughout the day for him to go spray them. I will be getting my garden plot ready for that sorghum Sudan grass this weekend. And my new onion plot needs to be tilled and cover crop planted. I'm thinking the safflower fir my onions and carrots. I am pumped up for getting fall garden ready!!!
Good for you. Hope all does great.
Great show I've been learning so much about gardening from this show.
Great to hear!
Another great show i am gonna start my fall transplants this Sunday Zone 8a.
Thanks.
I planted cheers and just picked number 1 of 12. It was 9lbs 1 oz.
Wow.
I heard ya say in your video that in zone 6 we shouldn’t plant carrots in the fall. Well I’m in zone 6 near Louisville Ky. I plant Danvers half long most every year and we usually enjoy carrots in December and January. Very sweet even after several frosts!
Thanks for all the info and keep it up.
Thanks for the info, we would love to get more information from you on planting in zone 6. Would you be willing to talk to us? If so please email custserv@hosstools.com a phone number for contact.
Wondering if y'all have a catalog. Big fan, try to catch all the shows
No we do not print a catalog anymore. Our inventory changes so frequently based on availability.

As a first year gardener, this was extremely helpful. The visual was great. So excited about getting fall crops going!
Great. we love to help.
I already got my transplants here in 7.... just need to clean up the garden and put them in
Yes time to get busy.
Problem is the rain keeps falling and falling
Corny joke from my Dad who by the way has met you and Travis …we lived in Georgia and you know how kudzu grows everywhere..he always said if kudzu was a cash crop, we’d all be millionaires. Now it’s that damned chamber bitter. So I’m by Savannah, I have time to do some sorghum sedan cover before time to plant my brassicas? Might throw some mustard in there too like last year for the nematodes.
Yes, that Kudzu is crazy.
nice to see you again
Great to see you too.
I'm about a month ahead on onions for zone 9...mine are planted in seed trays. We have about 200 feet total of Peaches and Cream corn planted. Spouts are about 4 inches tall in about 10 days. We've got lots of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, a small variety of cantaloupe, a very Golden Delight zucchini, Burgundy Bush and Green Crop beans planted in seed trays as well...
That is awesome.
I replanted some corn today, thanks for the tip! 8b Oregon.
Good luck!
Loved the breakdown of what to plant per zone!
Great. We love to help
Good show, as always! Thanks! Beautiful Mardi Gras Sunnies! I need some of those! Amen on the "love/hate" relationship with Brussels Sprouts, Greg! I have a similar, but slightly lesser, feeling for English Pea varieties. Gotta try that jalapeno/pecan pepper jelly! Ms. Sheila kinda gave you "the eye" when you put it up after just one, Greg! :)
Thanks for joining us. He is on a diet and we had to twist his arm to get him to eat one.
Awesome info guys!! I’m growing over in north Texas and getting ready. Enjoy ya products. Mrs. Hoss…. Keep him in line😆👍🏻
Haha. It takes a lot of effort to keep him straight.
Be great if you could a show like this every month at the beginning so it helps keep everyone informed
Great idea. We will try to do this
I truly enjoy the actual cards..
Don't know why but it was nice. TY
great to know.
Yes visual cards that we can screenshot and refer back to is helpful. Thank you.
I LOVE your show
Thanks for being here with us.
Where do they measure maturity on Brussel Sprouts, Washington state and Maine in the summer? I got Jaden Cross to eat from planting in late October in middle of May in 8b! The other varieties either never make sprouts, or they make open leaves where they don't ever make a firm mini head.
We have some of the same issues. These can really test my patience. Be sure to keep them adequately watered. Brussels sprouts require 1 inch (16 gallons/60.5 liters) of water each week or more. Brussels sprouts growth is ideal when temp is 60° to 65°F (15-18°C). Fertilize before planting and again at midseason; side-dress plants with well-aged compost or feed with an even organic fertilizer such as 5-5-5 or 10-10-10.
In regions with heavy rains or sandy soil, supplement the soil with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer.
If Brussels sprouts develop hollow stems or small buds, the soil may need the plant nutrient boron.
Great show and great info. Thanks .
Glad you could join us.
Great video thank you
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it.
@@gardeningwithhoss I loved sheilas smile when you brought out the sunflowers
Squash bugs have ruined some of my plants. I’m in zone 7 and trying desperately to fix it for fall crops.
Rotate, remove infected plants, Remove plant debris during the growing season to reduce sites where squash bugs can hide. They are less of a problem in the fall. Early detection is critical! You want to catch squash bugs before they grow into adults or they become very difficult to get rid of completely. Insecticides are not effective to manage squash bugs once they are adults. Companion planting with flowers can help some.
I love the Ambrosia corn. It's probably my favorite corn
One of our favorites. We are planting it this fall.
Ohio zone 6 here
Thanks for the videos!
thanks for joining us tonight.
I got some O-S Cross Hybrid cabbage seed I’m starting tomorrow, I seen a couple of em that got 90lbs and the babies on their with em were 4-5 lbs each but that was in Alaska so I’m gonna give em a try in north FL and see what I can do 🤞🏻🤞🏻.
WOW. let us know how it goes.
Very thorough as usual. Thank you 😊
Thanks
Started 5 flats of mixed brassicas last weekend and they are almost all up. Zone 8b bordering on 7a. Buckwheat in the 2 main plots are sprouting. Figure by the time it's ready to cut in, cover it and sit for a month, then plant transplants in 1 plot and a winter cover in the others.
Nice to have someone to let us know the proper times to get things started. Something I have had problems with for several years, Fall starts. I was always too early or too late. Too early and cabbage moths ate up seedlings. too late and it was too cold. Hopefully on time this year. Already have hoops and cover screen to keep moths away.
Thanks for the info, this helps so many of is :)
Glad it was helpful.
I have problems with mold on my perlite
How are you storing it? Question 1, are you keeping it too wet? Question 2 is do you need more circulation? Is it in a hot and humid area?
I’m not sure where I can ask this. So here it is
I have lost so many vine plants for 5 years. How can I grow vine plants and not get a vine bore?
In west Michigan zone 5
You have to start early and stay on top of them consistently
I so wish you would talk about zone 5, I am a new gardner and there isn't any show like yours in our area and to tell you the truth I feel like I am in the dark.
Contact your County Extension Office, they can help you.
We would like too. Looking for some people to discuss this with.
MIgardener channel will help
👍
Thanks
Are still gone to still do the father and son show.
No, he left the company in April to begin his own adventures.
Live in Florida just got done planting cover crop sun hemp till next month when ill kil and plant into that cover
Sounds like a good plan.
Zone 8 can you plant fall crops seeds directly in the ground or raised beds now?
You will need to wait a few weeks. Still too hot
Hi good morning my squash plant doesn’t have any female blooms on it
The males will appear first. The females will come with time.
@@gardeningwithhoss ok ty

Can I plant onion seeds in zone 6b in Kansas for spring? Will they live thru the winter??
No, I don't think so. We are not experts in that zone, but we think it would not work.
@@gardeningwithhoss thank you!
@@frasersgirl4383 Regular onions probably would die, but surprisingly, I had some bunching onions that survived -8F last year.
@@malcolmt7883 I’ve never grown “bunching onions”….?? Not sure what they are? I read that onions get bigger if planted in fall but I don’t think our zone is warm enough to plant in fall. I never grew onions before last spring and grew them from seed. Didn’t plant enough but boy they were delicious!!
@@frasersgirl4383 Yeah, too cold for fall onions. Bunching onions are tougher. They don't produce a bulb, but you can use them like green onions.
Question about starting onion from seed in zone 8. Am I planting onion seed for spring 2022 harvest or for harvest before first frost 2021?
Spring 2022
Thank y’all so much for all of your wonderful advice!! Planning to start my brassicas on 9/1 in zone 9A indoors? Is that ok, or should I start them on a different day?
Yes, that will work. You have plenty of time left.
@@gardeningwithhoss thank y’all!!
Zone 6B Indiana by Cincinnati Ohio, wanting to plant Walla Walla onion starts if I can find em, when should I plant them, thank you kindly
Yes we have them and they are good for the northern climates. hosstools.com/product/walla-walla-onion/
I’ve started my brassicas under grow lights inside and they are about 3 inches from the light but they are still a bit leggy. Can I save these or do I need to start over?
Stay the course
Hey great info thanks for sharing, I’m down in zone 10 B just curious about strawberries after you harvest are the plants done, or will they keep growing through the summer or does the heat do them in?
The heat down there would do them in.
Can I pretend I'm a zone 6 if i'm a 5b with high tunnels?????
Interesting question, but I'm not confident enough to answer. Always give it a try and see.
@@gardeningwithhoss Yep, my first try with high tunnels so I'm definitely gonna experiment and see what I can get away with. I'm all about the microclimates! Pushing a half a zone or even a full zone seems reasonable, but we never know if winter will show up in November or January🤣😂🤣
I want summa them red cabbages and brussels too!!!!
Not cool no sc
Agree, we are limited in what we can get.
Corny joke! 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching
I'm going to get those strawberry plants you're offering. I'm excited about that
We are too.
