i love the messy concept so much! It's so simple and eco-friendly. Usually crochet beanie tutorials are about beautiful stitching with neutral or monotone colors, but here it's like the multi-colored sprouts add so much life, charm, and fun. I love it!
Girl I was trying to reach out to you did not see an email. I did do the granny scarf. Om goodness! that was fun. I did it big LOL Love it! thanks will be making more!
Wow, love this so much. I never know what to do with all my shorter scrap pieces other than make them into stuffing. I might just have to try this out. You can never have too many hats :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been having trouble thinking on what to do with my scrap yarns and good thing your page came across the Instagram reel.❤️❤️
Thank you so much for your tutorial, I am in love with the fluffy ends! 🥰 Today I finished my first project with fluffy ends for myself, a big multicolored shawl. It turned out amazing 🤩 I love to crochet, but weaving in ends not so much, so this was the first project of many to come 😊 Have a great weekend and a big hug 🤗 from the Netherlands ♥️
Thanks for the great tutorial! I have never knitted, but now I really want to knit this beanie! 😍 Tell me, please, what is the approximate length of colored and black yarn to achieve this effect?
@@crochetbao Oh thank you! but I am interested in what is the approximate length of the segments. I understand that you used leftovers and they are different. But I have never knitted and I will buy new yarn. therefore, I do not know into which segments it will need to be cut.
This will fit up to 23”. Typically you want your panel to be around 1.5” less than the circumference of your head. So if your head is 24”, you’ll want the panel to be 22.5” in length
Thanks for sharing your video for these really funky looking hats! I would like to make some child sized hats. How long should I make my starting chain? Thanks, Lynne
For children’s sizes, I would measure the length from the top of the head to the bottom of the earlobe, then add 1-1.5” for the brim. Ch any number of chains until it reaches this length. The total number of rows should equal the circumference of the head - 2”. Hope that makes sense! Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
When I tried to make this, one side of my hat was significantly shorter than the other. Almost like I intentionally decreased my stitches. When I fold it in half, about an inch is hanging. What could have gone wrong?
What do you mean by an inch is hanging? When you fold it in half, one side should be shorter (the side with the single crochets). That entire side is actually going to be the top of your hat
There’s no advantage, I just personally like the look of it and think it makes it a little more unique ☺️ it can easily be done without the ends too, just snip off the ends after tying the magic knot

Thanks for teaching me the magic knot! I'm definitely going to be making some of these hats!

Thank you!! This is the perfect project for the short scraps 😄
Thank you for this great tutorial! I saw the insta video you posted and have been waiting patiently for the tutorial 💞💞
Hope you love it!! Happy crocheting ☺️
I love your pattern the best on UA-cam because you taper the top of the beanie by doing the single crochet. It really gives an excellent shape to it.
Aw thank you so much!
This is an amazing tutorial. You have have explained and shown each step so clearly. I learned so much. I love projects with scraps. Thank you!
Thinking of using this technique on a sweater. Love the look!💙

@@crochetbao Thank you! This does make sense!
Thanks for the great tutorial! I have never knitted, but now I really want to knit this beanie! 😍 Tell me, please, what is the approximate length of colored and black yarn to achieve this effect?
I don’t have the yardage unfortunately since this was all scraps, but maybe around 200-250 yards total
@@crochetbao Oh thank you! but I am interested in what is the approximate length of the segments. I understand that you used leftovers and they are different. But I have never knitted and I will buy new yarn. therefore, I do not know into which segments it will need to be cut.
@@annacharmed3833 each segment varies probably between 1’ -2.5’
@@crochetbao Thanks a lot for the information!❤️❤️❤️I hope I can knit this beanie💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻😊

You’re so welcome! ☺️
hello ! i love this tutorial.. i know it’s been a while but how often do you switch your your base color black to achy this look
achieve**
Soooo cute ♥️😍
Thank you ☺️☺️☺️
너어무 이뻐요 ㅜ ㅜ
How long are the scrap yarn stings? Is there a goal/ideal length for each piece of yarn?
There isn’t an ideal length, but I suggest lengths at least 5” long. I think most of my strands were between 10-24”
I see you are crocheting first row into the back loop of the base chain.
Actually its the third or back bump right???
Sooo liking this!!!!!!!
That purple yarn is just gorgeous i love this beanie may i have the purple yarn name❤
Amazing!!! Suddenly I want to have leftovers!!! 🤣 I wish I had now
Looks great! What is the circumference of the beanie? I have a large head 😊
This will fit up to 23”. Typically you want your panel to be around 1.5” less than the circumference of your head. So if your head is 24”, you’ll want the panel to be 22.5” in length

What does "blo" mean in your instruction sheet????
so knots are ok
Love this tutorial!!! But I was wondering how many rows of black in between the colors do I need to get this same effect? Thanks! :)
I alternate between 1 row, 1.5 rows, and 2 rows in between sets of colors
@@crochetbao thanks! Can’t wait to try it out!!!
Id use cardboard instead of paper- sturdier to brush on
how do you add in the black? do you cut it and attach it to the scraps as well?
Yep! Its exactly the same as attaching the scraps. I usually just attach different colors as I go so I can choose how long each color section is
What hook size did you use?
When I tried to make this, one side of my hat was significantly shorter than the other. Almost like I intentionally decreased my stitches. When I fold it in half, about an inch is hanging. What could have gone wrong?
What do you mean by an inch is hanging?
When you fold it in half, one side should be shorter (the side with the single crochets). That entire side is actually going to be the top of your hat
If I wanted to make the beanie shorter could I just do less stitches? Not sure if it is a purposeful ratio if that makes sense.
Yep! Less stitches = shorter beanie
Thank you!
I’m curious, why did you brush out the ends of the knots? Like what is the advantage of doing that?
There’s no advantage, I just personally like the look of it and think it makes it a little more unique ☺️ it can easily be done without the ends too, just snip off the ends after tying the magic knot
What is the yarn that you are using? Great vid! :)
It’s a bunch of mixed yarns but mostly lion brand pound of love and big twist value
Can't I just make a double knot instead of the magic knot?
Highly DO NOT recommend!! Double knots can easily become undone over time
what’s the number of hook? please🙏🏻
They used a 5.5mm hook
