      always test to ground too.. cant tell you how many times I've tested across 2 lines and had 0, but then 1 line to the ground and a triple digit looks me in the face.

      Never trust anyone saying it's off and never trust that it's wired proper all the way down to the simplest job.
      1) they may have shit something off but not your circuit
      2) just last week I had a rodent damage and bridge wires crazy like,
      240 from neutral to ground!!

    I just found your site, love it. I’ve been an electrician for 49 years, got my training in the military and have only known maybe three female electricians. And out of there only one I would call a real electrician, I love what you do I like your channel. I watched some some back videos, I wish more young people young women in particular would see the trades as a good alternative to college. You’re doing a great job. Please keep it up I’ll be watching.
    The old electrician

  • @Lostin2024

    We need a podcast with “Karly the sparky” and “Lexi the electrician” You gals would have a very unique experience in the trades that would probably translate to a very interesting podcast. With zoom or FaceTime it could totally be done. I’d listen for sure.

    Safety precautions are written in blood. Following the protocol is the smart move. Wild how much ego runs through the trades, asshats thinking they know better. Glad to see the example you're setting

    • @vk2ig
      @vk2ig 11 місяців тому

      I often wonder if the ego is due to people not wanting to be told what to do - they see agreeing to such a request as a sign of weakness - or because they they're so self-conscious that they think they look "sissy" (not tough) in PPE.

    I had to bend conduit for the first time and i realized quick im not a fan. Mc i actually dont mind working with but conduit is insane. I respect all the journeyman and other apprentices that have mastered that art. Every time I see perfect looking conduit I get jealous.

  • @Longeno55
    @Longeno55 11 місяців тому +4

    I get you regarding all the Burndy connectors you needed to install for the replacement generator leads. I lot of extra work and time, but you handled it. 😬 All the best!

  • @jaygosch8705
    @jaygosch8705 11 місяців тому +9

    This is amazing! There doesn't seem to be anything you can't handle! I really like seeing all the details. Don't worry if your video isn't perfect. Obviously, you need to focus on your work and stay safe. I'd much rather see the details with imperfect video than just see a few perfect shots and miss all the action. I've only done residential wiring, so seeing everything required on a large commercial job is interesting. I can't believe they wanted you to cut those cables in the middle like that! I probably would have asked to talk to whoever requested that and tried to explain how much extra work it would cause, plus a lot of unnecessary splices. Although you spliced them perfectly, they are still additional failure points. I don't complain often at work, but when someone requests something stupid like that, I speak up. If they insist, I'll do it, but i let them know first.

    Крайне необычно видеть многопроволочный кабель под болтовым соединением. По нашим нормам все многопроволочные кабели необходимо оконечить гильзой перед тем как затянуть под болтовое соединение. Сделано это для того чтобы кабель не распушался при затягивании и не повредить жилки.

    Love your work as always!! Just curious about the test for dead/de-energised, I would do L1 to L2, L1 to L3, L2 to L3, and from Neutral I would test every leg N, to L1, L2 and L3 and lastly a proximity volt detector and test all devices on known live power. Maybe I'm just over cautious, LOL.

    • @vk2ig
      @vk2ig 11 місяців тому +1

      I check neutral to each phase, just in case one is floating which won't show up on a line-to-line check.

    Whether you're working on household or industrial A/C or EV high voltage DC or A/C always use the rule of live dead live.
    Verify your meter works (live test), verify your circuit is dead (dead test), reverify your meter (live test).
    Best way to keep safe

    • @vk2ig
      @vk2ig 11 місяців тому +1

      Good advice. No point testing with a dead meter ... might as well test it with a brick.

    9:56 If only the keyboard warriors knew that only a 4 foot fall can be dangerous... A 6 foot fall can be fatal, shoutout to you for actually tying off. Ya never know when it could be that day something goes bad or someone falls. better safe than sorry! 👍🤣

    • @downrangefuture6493

      Sure, but that lanyard expands at least 8 foot. It wouldn’t help in a real fall. But as 3rd party, you do what the safety man says.
