  • In this episode we go into detail about color gemstones which make a great alternative to diamonds for not only engagement rings but for wedding bands and jewelry as well.
The first topic discussed is the hue, tone and saturation of color found within each gemstone. These factors will make up how the gemstone appears in real life
After that we break each gemstone down by color and speak about popular types of stones within those color categories. Starting at blue, red, green and down the line you are sure to lean about your favorite color stones. Some popular ones mentioned in this video are sapphires, rubies, emeralds and morganites to name a few. We also discuss some lesser know color gemstones like chrysoberyl, kunzite and more
Be sure to check out this video if you are shopping for a color gemstone engagement ring or would just like to know more about this topic.

I love colored stones. I specialize in them. I hate that diamond dealers tell ppl that "colored stones do not make good every day wear jewelry". Too soft. I have a Nigerian tourmaline(7 mohs) I wear every day/yrs. Still gorgeous no damage. Garnets are hard stone in so many colors. Tanzanite, Benitoite, beryls emerald Aqua, morganite, so many more.
Thank you for educating the public. AdirondackJewels NY 🥰

You know it is crazy how the range of color has changed for gemstones. We also have discovered some new gems that were completely unknown back in the day. But when I think of it most of these colors unheard of in my Grandmother's time. Pink Amethyst, Purple and Green color Garnet. But the fact is gemstones are a resource that change with the environment naturally. The colors we now have today, is truly quite impressive.

Thank You for this video. I am having a ring made by a one of a kind designer in Wallace, Idaho. I am at the stone selecting stage. While my designer has educated me repeatedly about the hundreds of thousands gemstones he has to offer the format of your video has given me a strong understanding of what I am looking for. I now know why I like and what I dislike when looking at a gem. I'll subscribe and keep watching.

Yes exactly! Gemstones have such beautiful meanings, and depending on the quality can be worth more than a diamond. Nevertheless when a gemstone comes from someone you love, and of course someone who loves you, it makes that gemstone priceless. #gemstoneloversunite

Oops early. 1960’s my grand son dumped about 10 boxes and how do I now sort them out. Can I buy a detector of some sort to help me identify types again?

The color of of a gem stone is determined by the defect material (usually an element) that is incorporated in it's crystalline structure.

How much does a custom design typically cost if made with you? I have a simple design in mind,, which would want a cyan moissanite as the main stone. I have sketches and a 3D 360° render ready to go.
What would something like this cost if I decided to work with you guys?
I am very much drawn towards your energy and your love for gemstones beyond JUST diamonds and bright white stuff.
