Insignia 55 inch TV has sound but no picture. NS-55D420NA16 full tv repair.

- We have a 55" Insignia LED television model ns-55d420na16 in which the red standby light at the bottom flashes as though its coming on but the screen is totally black.
In some cases you may have sound coming through the TV but still a black screen with no picture.
We are going to totally tear down the TV and replace the bad backlight led strips to get our picture back.

Good job big dog, my hint is to wear nitrile gloves when removing the diffuser screens, if you accidentally hit them with your skin a bright spot can form in the picture. Especially annoying on TV’s with 1 million screws…. With those little led lenses a bit of UV glue can make quick work of reattaching if not replacing them all
Another one saved! I get a kick out of saving them. I sell some but lately have been giving them to friends and family. I have several in the garage that I have only replaced one or more LED's just to see how long they will last. It's a good hobby for this old man.
I’ve fixed single LEDs and in a couple sets a few hours later a random one goes. In others, they are still running. To remove I grind off the one I’m replacing and cut a small strip off a working strip and solder it onto the strip without removing anything. Gotta make sure the color of LED is good or it looks weird. Now, for the Effort it takes to take a TV apart, I just replace all the strips and feel confident it won’t come back. Maybe if LED supply dries up we need to start doing singles, but until then…

I have a JVC lt-70maw795, have you ever seen led lights with voltage even though its disconnected from all boards?
Over the last year or so I’ve rescued almost 10 plasma TV’s from the dumpster. Most work just fine and are in the 50” size range. Most don’t have a stand or remote. What is your estimate of there value for resale? I’m not looking to make lots of money but wonder if there worth the time?
Just order the OEM remotes off of Ebay and you can make a few more bucks off of them.

Hey BigDog is there a certain suction cups to use because i drop a few with suction cups

Those are the best ones in my opinion Leon, just get 2. Never dropped or came aloose from any TV screen.
I wipe the cups with a damp paper towel. It increases the suction.
