Motorola Moto G54 5G | Unboxing, Camera, Gaming & More!

- Unboxing the Motorola Moto G54 5G, a budget £200 smartphone boasting an OIS camera, respectable gaming performance, long battery life and more. The Motorola G54 actually offers double the storage of an £800 iPhone 15, plus features like microSD support and a headphone jack. So here's a hands-on review of this Moto phone to see if it's one of the best options for that price.
That 50MP camera is quite basic, as you'd hopefully expect at this budget cost. But the Motorola Moto G54 5G can still capture decent enough pics even with strong or low lighting, if you know how to handle it. Gaming chops are just about good enough for Genshin Impact, but that frame rate won't be too smooth. You're best off with PubG etc.
Battery life is cracking, while Motorola has stuffed 256GB storage into the Moto G54 5G, expandable via microSD up to 1TB. You also have the usual slick Moto apps on board (except for Ready For sadly).
This budget phone only comes with a guaranteed single OS upgrade sadly, so Android 14 will be it. But at least you have three years of bi-monthly security updates. And no complaints with the 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS screen, which hits 120Hz, or those stereo speakers.
So that's the Motorola Moto G54 5G, let us know your thoughts down below!

I got one as my backup/work phone a couple of weeks ago, based on this review. For such a cheap phone it is really responsive, butter smooth UI and a ton of storage. Given how I use phones (no gaming, mostly email/web/IM) this would do me fine for extended periods of use as my main device.
I really like the way how you review the smartphones! It's pretty cool that you also treat many budget oriented phones
How is it that these budgets phones have the basic features like FM Radio, 3.5mm jack & SD card whereas the premium phones you pay an arm & a leg for can't supply these basic features which I think should be mandatory on Android phones.
I guess they assume people who spend this much money aren't gonna bother with wired headphones or using SD cards. I'm honestly not sure if these premium phones are even worth the price.
The truth is the tech companies sign deals and want everyone caged into their digital "ecosystems". Not a conspiracy, just business as usual.
Got last year's version (g53) for free with my new contract. Its nothing fancy but solid simple phone that covers all the basics. Battery is basically endless.
I only use the latest IPhone

What a brilliant phone for the price. 💓 Moto!
Oncle Spurt, pourquoi ne pries-tu pas pour ton Dieu ?😠
Love the classic Brit style review
Moto's decision to release the g53 months ago is a real head scratcher when compared with this. The g54 outshines it in every way for practically the exact same price.
g54 now 99e
@@JouniKyyronen-nv1epwhere is that
Well that's their plan
My Pixel 6 Pro is in for repairs as it has an area of dead pixels on the screen so I had to buy a cheap phone to tide me over until I get the Pixel back (or hopefully replaced).
I purchased the Moto G54 as my temporary replacement phone and I must say that for the price, I'm VERY impressed.
It's an amazingly good phone for the price.
Its basically a G power 2023 with more ram.
Love your reviews, but one thing that you (or any other reviewers for that matter) never seem to cover these days is signal reception and call quality! I mean, it is a phone after all, and I do actually use mine for making the odd phone call (yes, I know that seems a bit strange these days, and sales staff in mobile phone shops look at me like I've just arrived from another planet whenever I mention that)! This is now the third Motorola phone I have owned, having tried a mid-range Samsung (A53) between the last two, and I find that I get much better signal reception with the Motorola versus the Samsung, and the sound quality on voice calls is much clearer too. My Motorola stays connected to my provider's network (EE) throughout my entire commute (apart from when going through one tunnel), whereas the Samsung (costing around three times as much!) kept dropping out at various points during my regular journey!
I can take it for 120-30 euro so im guessing is worth it when is in your top under 200 pounds budget video 😅 i will check every other phone you recommend but i doubt it they beat that price ,the only minus i see is again the size i guess they stop.making around 6 inch displays anymore sadge, cheers mate when it comes to phones you're the person i watch ,have a nice holidays and successful 2024🎉
Hey TS, consider testing the headphone jack with cable headphones.
For us nerds who are interested in using a cheap phone with SD card reader and headphone port as a music player.
Used to jave Motorola G30 that was literally INDESTRUCTIBLE. It's still used as my backup phone.
Got this phone for under 100€ thanks to the massive discount from the phone provider. Damn, this phone is amazing! 6000 mAh battery makes this phone last for AGES! For a basic user such as myself, I think this phone is perfect!
How about display and does it lag?
Ive got the g73 and its a good phone. Not quite my 23 ultra, but its great for my everyday use.
You've got the ultra s23,my God
I'm using my bro's vivo to view this cos I don't own a phone for now😪😥
@@odauduhassan2583yes, it's a great phone but it's bloody massive and heavy. Not to mention I now realise I'm no fan of victus. G73 is light and nippy enough for everyday tasks. Bonus is I can use it as a sat nav for hours with no worry of screen burn. If I'm going to family events, days out etc I'll take the ultra for the camera. For work and everyday I use the g73 as it's a better daily and just about the only decent phone I can find with a LCD screen.
Hmm thank you, I've made my decision. I needed something to upgrade from my old Lge LM-X430 and I didn't want any Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor or TLC CCP-phones. I always trusted Motorola and I'm glad I will never change that anytime soon 😁
Joke's on you. Motorola's been owned by the Chinese for a while now, Bozo😂

I really dont know if i should choose moto g54 5g or g72
@@OnlineElevator g54. Because it's a new phone and will get 1 more OS update, i believe it'll probably get android 14. G72 comes with android 12 and even if you get android 13 on g72 it might be laggy or have some issues etc etc. So, g54 is a whole lot better choice
Already received the phone. Overall its a good device without any crazy design. Camera is good for the price. Mint green colour version with 12 GB Ram and 256 GB storage. Looks very sophisticated .
Hi @Natura804, I'm thinking of getting this phone as my current one is on its last legs. Can you give me more info on how hot it gets? Some reviews I've checked mentioned overheating on multiple recent Moto models and I want to make a good decision considering my budget. Any info you find relevant would be appreciated :) thanks!

Moto G52 remains superior overall... sometimes i don't understand Motorola, even if im a loyal customer whose 5 last phones were theirs.
Super happy with my Edge 30 Ultra, but had g82, g52, g8 Power.
But G54 has a Power version with 12gb ram, 6000mah, 33W charging although it lost the ultrawide cam.

wondering outside of the reviews, what phone do you use?
Does the matt back or the faux leather provide better grip? Having M.S. means I have trouble feeling things in my hands, hence surface texture is really important to me.
I needed that subs thank u for puting them.
Moto actually means fire in Swahili. Not bad!
They bring out new phones every five minutes. Try selling a second hand Motorola and see the response. Virtually zilch. Updates are pretty non exsistant . Never will I personally touch another Motorola. After your review of the Realme 9 Pro I decided to purchase one. And am so impressed with it. Thank you so very much for all your videos.
Thats Chinese ownership for you. Look at Xiaomi and all their subsidiaries. They have completely and utterly saturated the market with handsets at every single level and they keep pushing out new handsets every 6-12months.
im really not buying a motorola to sell it second hand later, im buying one to use till it croaks. i personally dont care about android updates its a fkin os and i dont care for constant "features". they get 3 years of secruity updates which is just 1 year less than samsungs so its fine on that front too
That is your choice.

Hey, quick question. Is there anyway to get this thing to work in the united states on att? I bought it without doing proper research, because it was a reasonable price and had the best specs for the price. It said all carriers, but after getting it I realized that this might not be the case…

Build quality. Don’t be concerned. Always get a case. My super duper expensive iPhone’s rear cracked within weeks, in a case! I hate glass and prefer plastic.
256gb of storage is very good. Again pay crap loads more for an iPhone that’ll break if not in an expensive case.
I’m making the switch soon.
Moto G64y sounds like a serious contender. Gotta see the official specs though! I have been hearing about this one with the associated mediatek chipset that is quite a performer I guess!
Silly question, I have years other brand ,can I in this motorola change the order of navigation buttons?
Moto g54 power edition, Android 14 when? Europe
And will it get Android 15?
Does it have double tap to activate the screen?
Will the phone still be operable for awhile after the new updates have gone out?
Hi mate
I found this , the moto g73 and Xiaomi redmi note 13 4g for the same price 170 quid. What's your opinion go for moto g54 , g73 or redmi ? I'm not a gaming freak but I use the camera often and videos.
I've saw reviews of the redmi note 13 that says the battery is terrible drains very fast and doesn't last and put me off a bit to be honest.
Thank you
Far too much emphasis on which Android version you use - in practice there is so little difference that it is never a deal breaker. This is a good cheap phone for 10-30% the cost of a headliner. More money would get you a better phone - but it is the law of diminishing returns and whatever you buy it will be out of date in 18 months. Decent review.
Hello I wanted to ask you if at maximum brightness you see outdoors , I have a Redmi Note 8 that you can see , do you think it is lower in brightness ?😏
Looks like there's very little to choose between this and the G84: slightly better design in the G84, with an OLED display too?
OLED is better
thanks Mr. Spurt
Hi Tech Spurt, I suggest you to review Infinix GT 10 Pro and give your impression of the phone. Thanks

Hi..my g54 has no beep sound after saying "hey Google". Searched on the net n they say to accessibility n go to switch access..play sound etc. But all these are missing on Android 13 on moto g54? Is it the same with u? Without the beep it is very inconvenient n I have to keep looking at the phone to check. Anu suggestions?
As a huge Quintuplets fan, I appreciate the Yotsuba wallpaper 😁
Wish I'd watched this before ordering, I was expecting it to come with a gel case like other reviews but I guess they don't include it on the UK model for some reason :(
I think Moto are fantastic value for money...but.. one OS update is brutal. If you get 14 say early next year, that's basically it bar the security updates. Surely they could offer two updates at the very least? Trim down the Moto range to allow it?
De quoi vous moquez-vous en ce moment !?
Doesn't apply to all Moto phones and isn't too bad upgrade after 3 years
LOL this smartphones you use 1-2 years max.. so never mind about 2 or 3 versions of Android )))) its not flagship...
For all practical applications one Android version works same as another. Maybe newer one will be more -bloated- a bit slower for same hardware as developers are coding for current generation of phones ignoring fact that two years older phone has less RAM and weaker CPU.
Still using my Moto One Hyper...Which shall be my next phone?!? In the Moto Family of course...
Hey Uncle Spurt why doesn't the budget friendly Motorola phones not put a lest 64 MP 20 MP and a 32 MP cameras?
I have just been experimenting by just taking screenshots of those photo examples and then using a photo editor to see what quality I could get . Even though a screen shot is only 4mb on this laptop, after processing them and then re enlarging. I found that the quality was much better than the original. I therefore would say that showing examples is not much use as they can easily be improved, In fact even those on here can be made almost as good as my more expensive Sony digital camera, In fact with modern AI software buying an expensive phone because it's camera is better is a waste of money.
Does it comes with screen protection applied?
Would you recommend i buy this phone to replace my redmi note 10 pro.
Does it have screen recording??? Just noticed it! It has!
Does it support VOLTE in Lebara AUSTRALIA
When you dropping the Moto edge 40 neo review
It's much different than indian version.. And it's looks nice than indian version.. 6000 mah battery indian version
A question here, as odd as it may be: I got the relatively new G54 5G with the new contract for laughable 5 euro (being around 175 on the market which is cool in itself, ok) but I find the camera somewhat worse than my Moto One Zoom (both front and back cams seem better on the One Zoom) but as you might know it's gotten a bit old in many things and yet still better in as many. Question is, can someone tell me if G54 is more worth it than the One Zoom if it makes a little sense? Thanks in advance.
Yay Motorola 🎉🎉🎉

Did you watch the video?
Diving into the rumors surrounding the Moto G64y. Is it 64 or something more? Plus, a potential peek at the Mediatek D7020 under the hood!
I've seen this phone advertised with 5000 capacity batteries and 6000 capacity? Which is the correct capacity or are both correct depending...
I believe you can't get the 6000 version in the UK. But you can in countries like India etc.
Hi, can anyone advise me on how to transfer data from another android (Huawei) to this new Motorola? Thanks very much!
It's a shame Motorola isnt releasing the G54 and 84 with the same specs in the UK as the Indian versions (G54 6000mah battery, G84 with WiFi 6) as I'd have replaced my trusty G7 power, still going strong but a bit outdated now with one of those and been prepared to accept the limited android update. Since not will prob pay more for Samsung A34, tho no WiFi 6 great battery life with better performance and cameras.
You'll despise the Indian versions. I have a G54, and after 30 minutes of using the camera, you can't hold it without plunging it into a bucket of ice. Also, after 20-25 minutes of gaming, the camera area starts to heat up. Heating issues, camera alright okay. But Moto doesn't harm the device with updates.
