As an avid rider who has been on motorcycles for over 50 years my stance is that 2 strokes really still have a place in the industry their power to weight ratio in events such as hard enduro events cannot be ignored. As a former Mx & cross country racer my stance is that a more real threat to off road should not be relegated to shoulder I ride a 2 or 4 stroke! It should be how to not just keeping current riding areas open few as they are but to put forth new legislation to break ground on acquiring new off-road tracks & designated trails this is key to the future of the sport! And I live in tx enough said!
We have a hybrid of the 2-stroke and 4-stroke, called Differential-stroke (D-cycle), which complete 4 strokes different in both displacements and periods per revolution. It has the pros of both, but no con of either. It weight between its hybrid parents, but more on the 2-stroke side. It is simply by splitting the piston crown part from its skirt to be operated by a (valvetrain-like) pistontrain. (see UA-cam with D-cycle)
yeah totally agree, i dont mind 2 stroke on like mx but enduro I'm not the best for it there so use the 4 stroke and find that a lot easier to control for me lol but even since been an instructor always say to people you cant just go off someone saying 2 stroke or 4 stroke because it depends on the person and kind of riding they want to always try both so pick the right bike.
Great analogy. It’s all about the rider and the terrain. We all have preferences and that is and always should be the determining factor. I am, have been and always will be a two striker. It is far more important that you ride not what you ride. 🤟
My ajp pr4 240 is a 4 stroke with 105 kg filled up, it's an AC so No Problems with Overheating, linear Power and short gearing. I tried a lot of Bikes. It's the best Bike for me.
I just went from a beta 300 two stroke to KTM 350 exc-f and one thng I noticed that the four stroke has much better fuel efficiency. You can just ride and ride and ride until hands fall off. And I love the smooth operation of four stroke engine. EFI doest the work there. But what I miss at four stroke is no engine braking that was on 2 stroke. I am non decided on the smell that 2 stroke gave to me after the ride sometimes was just to much I felt like smoked meat.
For me at age of 73 and still an ECEA golden master hare scrambles class rider , my BETA 200 RR is way lighter than the four strokes , all though I love the power out put of four strokes but the average 30 pound weight difference means a lot after an hour or two of competing. If I could get a four stroke as light as my 200RR ,I would go for it.
That is why I bought myself both a 2023 WR 250 F and a 2024 YZ 250 X to tell you the truth I prefer writing the four stroke but I love the two-stroke on a two-stroke
Some info is slightly outdated already :) With the introduction of tpi/tbi bikes, 2-strokes became heavier and more complicated (less reliable) than 4-strokes, for example my 4t honda crf250rx with fuel weighs 108kg, while new 2t ktm exc 250 weighs 105kg without fuel...
I wouldn’t say they’re less reliable. The tpi/tbi is the only 2 stroke to buy imo. He’s spot on when he talks about the limited rpm ranges on the 2 strokes. That they get “wild “ when you’re on the pipe, but he’s also spot on when he mentions that the newer bikes are much more linear. I’m assuming he’s referring to the tpi/tbi bikes in this regard
This isnt even a question anymore lol Unless were talking different "enduros".. Traditional, Hard etc.. In Hard enduro which is what you and most ride here. Anyone saying they prefer a 4t aint riding HARD Enduro.

it's simple...get one of each
Socialism.
This I want to do now. I have yz 250. Beta 300 2024 rr racing. And I Change the Beta for 4 stroke Beta 430

Just got a 2022 Beta 300RR. Can’t wait to go try it out this week. Appreciate the videos. Have helped a lot.
My 2022 TE250i rips in the woods, desert and everything else. It feels like I’m riding a 125 compared to my old 525 EXC. I love my new bike!
2 stroke hard enduro 4 stroke classic enduro

Great video man
Miss my 2-stroke
For enduro, 2 strokes every day all day.
I would have thought you would have shown a 4 stroke riding some of the same terrain to see the difference on the difficult terrain.
I thought the same 🤷
They have “fewer kilograms” than 4 strokes 😂

Why are trials bikes coming with a 4t engine choice? Could be that gearing and flywheel weight have more effect than 2t or 4t?
How many trials bikes you see racing the Hard Enduro circuit? Winning Erzberg? The question is which is better for ENDURO riding.
