A day with a Beer Merchandiser

- Welcome to another Beer Merchandiser video. Here I am showing you what I do for a living during the pandemic. I work for a beer distributor in Orlando, Florida where we sell and stock beers mostly from the Anheuser-Busch portfolio.
This is considered one of or maybe the busiest Walmart in the country. I get here early in the morning to work a truck during the weekdays that I work and just back stock in the weekends. We get around 900 cases every Friday during the summer and yes I get help when it’s that much.
But if you have any questions about being a beer Merchandiser, just ask in the comments section of this video. If you like the video, please hit the thumbs up button thank you.
Very nice video brother much respect. I deliver beer in Toronto, Canada and we don't have merchandiser jobs like you guys do. When I deliver beer to a Wal-Mart or grocery store I just drop my pallets off and the Wal-Mart employees are responsible for putting away and rotating the product. Very interesting and hard work on your part though, respect homeboy.
Thank you very much
Really enjoyed this video 👍🏼 I like that you took the time to talk and explain things.
I used to work for Harbor Distributing here in California so it would be nice to see you merch the Corona,Modelo, etc brands lol
Thank you and I know about harbor, I used to work for Reyes and I have videos working corona modelo etc lol
I start Harbor next week.
This will blow up one day, I promise, here at 450 views.
Thanks, I think I inspired some companies to upload videos on UA-cam because most of them came after my most popular one.
I'm glad you rotate. I've watched many videos in merchandising, and all of them just stocks it, and not rotate the products!
Lol yeah thanks I have to
You gotta start your motus, wait for it to hit 0.3 then stop it, start it again and go about your day, and at the end of the day you do the same thing, stop 0.3 miles away from your house and then start it again so the commute is 0.6 and business is higher than usual 🤝 your welcome homie
@@YoungHDDJ they know that trick here homie people got fired for doing that lol but I’m a lead now so I can do my own.
Do you prefer making a list before pulling everything ? I’ve seen people that prefer to just bring the entire pallet out and than fill up and anything that’s back stock take back and than pull lastly
I do both. Saturdays I make a list, today (Sunday) I bring the pallets out. It depends on how much I need.
What sucks is when there are no pallet jacks or two wheelers available that’s happened to me or if there is something available it’s those beat up platform trucks that I have to use.
Yup, that’s why I bring my break down hand truck
Keep doing more videos bro I deliver beer in Texas 👍🏼
Nice, most people I reply too are from either Texas or California lol
DallasTG how’s much they pay in Dallas?? I’m in Houston
@@donkiko6708 17 as a helper bro
@@ItsDallasYT you work for andrews distributing? I live in Dallas also, trying to see how it’s like working their.
I'm the opposite with the gloves.. i work faster without them and I feel like I have better grip with none. Idk why
My brother says exactly the same
Nice video! Applied last week for harbor out here in California and got an interview with them tomorrow. Currently working for Core-Mark as a merchandiser and run into drivers and some merchandisers for harbor. Any interview tips? And also pros and cons about this job.
Thanks good luck just be yourself and some tips would be to don’t over work yourself, get a breakdown handtruck if you can
Did you end up getting the job?
Hi David, I applied to a Reyes owned beer distributor for merchandiser. They have a hiring event going on Wednesday and I’m scheduled to go. I have a question during the application it says I’m required to have collision and comprehensive insurance on me is that correct? I don’t know why that would affect a hiring decision but it does. I was wondering if you know anything about this or if it’s mandatory. I seen all your videos and they’re very helpful in the case of me getting hired. Any tips would be appreciated as well. Thank you.
Hi, yes if you’re talking about your car insurance. They have requirements for your vehicles insurance to work with them. That’s for them to cover themselves in case you have an accident while on the clock. They pay your mileage so that goes towards that as well.
Did you get the job mr Obi Wan?
the hardest part is being a merchandiser. its gets easier when you get into sales. plus other companies will want to poach you once you have the sales experience.
I’ve done sales before, I’ve been offered that position and I declined it. I don’t like sales, it’s boring, stressful and with merchandising I stay active and healthier. Eventually I will have to do it for the sake of my body but for now, I’ll stick to merchandising. I’m a team leader now anyways.
Great video. Good job bud.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi! I'm an Bud Merchandiser in Nebraska. May I ask what kind of glue works best to seal the boxes? We are given tape & then customers always pick around them. You do an awesome job!
Hi, thanks for the comment. The glue I use is the same one they use to repack cases at the warehouse. I ask for a few.
@@DavidPacJrWe are a satellite location, so our warehouse is hours away which isn't the counties I serve. That's a big reason I asked, since we are all own our own. I appreciate your feedback & response! I've been doing this job for Budweiser for over a year now, so I'm finding helpful tips in your videos! Thanks for sharing!
@@lisastevens7200 thank you
Just keep a glue stick & a lighter with you💪
Great video for me bro, we stock the same exact beers
Its a chill job, but it gets old fast after doing it for a bit, i did it for pepsi, and Harbor its tons of labor, but chill job overall. But get ready to work your ass off, for not much money.
Yes, it’s not for everyone. I mean Harbor and Pepsi is a lot of work. Over here we have a smaller territory and more help to work.
What made u sell the gopro? Those the best for these type of work vids.. I'd why more guys use those
It was already giving up, battery wasn’t lasting anymore
What’s the normal starting pay for someone with experience? I was a Publix stocker for a year and a Coca-Cola merchandiser for 6 months
Depends on the company
Why did you leave Coca Cola. I start Monday 😂
Im having the interview next week with Budweiser for the same merch position. Is the hour flexible? what to said during the interview?
Good luck, each company has their own way of running their hours and pay. Sell yourself in the Interview, say you have strong work ethic and you’re willing to put in the work.
Did you get the job?
I have an orientation tomorrow, do you know how long they usually last, and how soon will I start training after?
All depends on the company
How long does it usually take you to finish up your routes?
I’m looking into apply for this type of position.
Every route Is different
How do you go on about making a list? Do you just count how much product will go in a particular location?
Yes
I’m still in Highschool so I only work the weekends but what I do since I don’t really know what I have Outback I just make a list of everything Outback then I’ll just see what I need for it.
I use to work at Budweiser had 3 Wal-Marts Super Centers had to wake up a 2am to get to one Wal-Mart by 4am did it for 10yrs.
Wow
Good job like video 👍🏽
Thank you
about to go on an interview tommorow do take guys with probationary licenses?
Good luck and I don’t know. Every company is different.
I do this for SGWS for spirits.
Nice work men...
Thank you
Do you have to deliver product yourself or is the product already there for you?
It’s there for me
Any tips on getting faster I got 7 stores to do before 2 usually get up at 4 to 5 depends on the day
If you need to open a case for just one six pack, don’t open it. Wait until you need the full case. Also making a list helps.!
What do I have to expect in the interviews and what kind of questions do they ask im kind of nervous and I recently got a traffic ticket will that affect me in the hiring process?
Every company is different. Don’t be nervous it’s not one of those jobs lol just be interested. If they ask about the traffic ticket, be honest about it because they can find out about it.
@@DavidPacJr Ok, thanks
@@music_is_life95 no problem

how come to switched to bud? i thought harbor was the better company . i went from classic to harbor lol
I wasn’t working for harbor, I was working for Florida distributor. Reyes has a lot of companies. I don’t know what classic is lol. I switched because it was a better fit for me.
You make it look easy ….
Thank you, been at it for 12 years
@@DavidPacJr the good work you do , hope they take care of ya man
@@peytonledwell2876 I appreciate that thank you
The merchandiser was good only on the beer side but this company silver eagle kept adding water, energy, drinks, tease, and other beverages which that led me to leave the job unfortunately Because I don’t mind getting off 830 once in a while but every single day unacceptable I mean I have a life and I would like to enjoy three hours before I go to sleep now waking up go to work and get ready again to go to work for me that doesn’t work
I do water, energy drinks, & coffee as well. This job is not for everyone. I completely understand.
Are you paid hourly or on a daily rate per day ?
Daily
@@DavidPacJr wow , I hope it’s 150 a day at least minimum
@@peytonledwell2876 soon it will be. Remember you get paid mileage as well.
@@DavidPacJr daily , you don’t wanna be working longer than 8 hours … you basically get paid for 8 hours - 5 days a week
@@peytonledwell2876 yea, sometimes in busy times I work 8-10.
Is there a high turnaround of employees from not hanging with the job? Also is it hard to get hired? Asking for my hubby
Yeah some people have left especially from our competitors. No it’s not hard at all.. well that depends on the company and the HR
@@DavidPacJr he has an appointment with reyes in so cal. Do you have to have your own hand truck? He has a small vehicle but I’m sure he can get an attachment for it like they have for bikes.
@@clockleon oh okay, I used to work for Reyes. They give hand trucks if he asks for one.
@@DavidPacJr thanks for the info. Do you know what kind of questions they ask at the Reyes interview? It’s going to be a 20min phone interview. Sorry last question. Binged watched all your videos lol
@@clockleon no problem and every Reyes company is different. It all depends on the management and staff at the particular plant. Thank you for watching lol
Why do you start motus when you leave home?
That’s how they have it designed for us, once I clock in the store, it records business miles.
Ugh. People actually drink Natural Light? 🤢😂
I also used motus
do you work for reyes or hoffman

To glue open cases and close them back
But I don’t understand what the lighter is used for
